Great information. I just ordered 6 or these filters and am excited to see how they compare to the standard sponge filter. I've not heard of that pump previous so I'll be looking forward to finding out how it does for you.
Ive recently added 15 of these filters from aquarium co op in various tanks and I love them. No need to squeeze the sponge to get them to sink and they do what theyre supposed to.
Excellent video! I was going to ask you to do a review on those because i know you are a fan of both sponge filters and aquarium coop!
I ordered 4 of the sponge filters from the Co-op. I particularly like the new green color and I can add an air stone. Mine have been in since the green ones were available. Mine get an A+
Great video love using sponges might have check out the new ones
Love the stacking of the sponge filters!
I just ordered some sponge filters from the co-op today, since I am setting up a few more tanks after the holidays, looking forward to trying them with the coarse material. Be sure to keep us posted on that new central air pump, I'm going to need to upgrade mine and want to see comparison to the Jehmco
Very cool of Cory to do that...I was thinking of buying some of them this week so I Cant wait to see the updates on them Zenzo...Nice to have met you at the SAS when Jimmy was speaking..Happy Holidays..
Grate video zenzo hopefully the filter will be available in the uk one day keep up the grate work merry Christmas 🎄 love from the UK 🇬🇧
Love the sponge filters, it's very easy for maintenance and I highly require these for a tank and pond as well boss😎😎👍👍
I'm just not sold on coarse sponge due to water clarity so thank you for addressing that issue. I felt that way about the sponge pads also but never got a definite answer on it. I hope you will do an update to see how they performed in the messier tanks. I have a sponge filter in all of my tanks and love them but none of them are as coarse as those.
I did the same thing. I swapped out all my old sponge filters for the green ones. I love his filters and the green looks much better
Great video. I hope you enjoy the filters as much as I do. I recommend them too anyone. I have learned more about filters in past year then I ever did. I have switched over to sponges this year and only have 1 canister as polishing filter one hang on the back just for meds. With that be said. Hope you have merry Christmas and holidays
Thank you! Same to you!
The coarse sponge does polish, just takes some time. I love them!
personally the fine sponge relly does a better job, and i dont mind squeezing it out every water change,
I have been thinking about going to strictly to sponge filters for while I'm going to set up a 40 gallon planted tank I'm running on nothing but a double Sponge Filter the great video!
Really going all in on those sponges. I would love to try them in my fish room but wouldn't for all the tanks without an experiment first, good luck!
Yes, those coarser sponges make a huge difference in maintenance and longevity. I have them in my tanks too.

Merry Christmas to you and your family
I’ve heard good things about that Fuji MAC septic air pump. They run cooler than other pumps and don’t wear out the diaphragm nearly as fast. Almost bought one but ended up going with a Jehmco linear piston. Please do a follow up on the pump. Would be helpful as the hobby seems to dominated by Jehmco and Alita when it comes to central pumps. More options would be nice.
Great video. 💪🏼
Nice video, I'm interested in the air pump you currently have vs the new Fuji Mac, cost/performance comparison. Can you also shed a light on what is the effect on running this using 1/2, 3/4 and 1" pvc pipes. Also what is your take on linear piston vs linear diaphragm technology, that would make for educational and informative video. Looking forward to your future videos which are getting better in quality (did Jimmy give you pointers? lol)
Hey there having a malawi cube with about 350 liters (I am from Germany). What kind of inside filter would you recommend for this scize? Till now I use 2 filters called HMF Filter sitting in the corners with 45 ppi so they are very fine.. But I still have very small parts swimming around, so water doesn't get clear... Any tip?
whats your opinion? I was going to build a aio filter into a new 20 gallon long which I have one already like that but want to try only sponge which i always have put with HOB. So 20 gallon long tank with divider. put 2 small ones … one on left and right sides and Im good? It seems nano has better surface and looks better then the small. (I have 2 of your mediums now im using) Plus that divided tank may have 3 divides if the fish have fry. So divided into 2 but possible 3 how would you set up and which ones would you use? thanks 👊 is this enough for clear water n flow to keep temperature steady
Great video brother..I'm getting ready to order some sponge filters for my new 40 Gal Breeder tank for a baby bass and love these green coarse ones better..Keep Crushing It!!

That Fuji Mac looks great, hope it works. Japan makes the best water pumps too.
Don't get me wrong most of the co-op's products are great but if that is all your gonna filter your tanks with the pores are to large will hold bigger waste but with that being said it don't hold enough beneficial bacteria I do love his intake sponges 😁
If you dont do a video on wednesday, merry christmas!!!
I have a matten filter I’m using on a shrimp tank I’m setting up. I was debating on getting this co-op one. I’ll probably still pick some up at some point. Newer sub 👍 I’ve been enjoying the channel.
Cory has the same foam in sheets, you could probably Matten that stuff as well.
How would you us filter floss with a stacked filter
Hello and happy holidays! Do you think longfin rosy barbs, rummy nose tetras and opaline gouramis can be kept together in a 50 gallon?
Yes. Happy Holidays!
The aquarium co op sponge filters look really good hopefully I can try them soon
Wills Tanks . They great easy to set and clean. When I clean I take a ziplock large bag place around then pull out to clean. If you get one I recommend get the never clog airstone too.im run 3 of them now 1small and 2 large ones
Ya I use air filters pumps in mine worth it heres a question for ya what u do when the power goes out for a while do u have back up enzo?
Yes. I have a generator (if you watch the DIY background videos you can see it in episodes 1 and 2). I also have my tanks upstairs on backup batteries.
Tazawa Tanks can you post a link or reference the backup batteries you use? I was going to buy some at Best Buy awhile ago but it didn’t seem like they would run very long after reading the box of them. Would appreciate it as I’ve been holding out on buying back ups for awhile but I know how important they are.
Thanks, and great vid again! Love the channel.
Humm I just get Duracell or raovac batteries

Hey zenzo i was doing some research about plants, and i read that pothos are great for removing nitrates, i also red they are toxic to humans, dogs, and cats, what happens if a fish or a turtle eats them?
I’ve never had turtles, and my fish don’t eat them. They are toxic to mammals though.
I prefer to see my sponge getting dirty rather quickly because that tells me it is doing it’s job.
i would highly recommend a finer sponge, youll know they can house so much more bacteria and waste the 1st time u clean one, vs a course sponge that doesent offer much mechanical filtration benefits because of its anemic suction power
Do I need to still use my aquaclear 110 in my 75g if I use like 3 of these sponges?
Probably not. It depends what type of fish you have and how many. Three sponges in a 75 gallon tank will filter a lot.
You could always keep the 110 HOB and run an additional sponge filter.
I keep cichlids like blood red parrots, sevrum and jack dempsy. I already use two sponge filters with my hob. 1 regular and 1 from co op.
How many sponge filters should you put in a 125 and is it possible to just use sponge filters only on a tank that size? Great video as always. Merry Christmas
Yes, you can filter a 125 with just sponges. The amount depends on what you have in the tank and if you have plants, etc. If this were a planted tank, I’d probably run 2-3 sponges. In a heavily stocked cichlid tank, I’d run 4-6.
Great video👍🏻...Can I use only sponge filter in a goldfish tank...
I am planning to shift my my 4 big fancy goldfish to a 70 gallon tank...
Thank you😊
Yes, you can. Probably 3 sponge filters in a 70 with goldfish.
Tazawa Tanks...thank you for you prompt reply...I got my answer 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
So. You use just sponge filters right?
I have 110l tank and I dont want use my external because fish what I wanna keep need very low water movement and I thinking about sponge filter. What type can I use?
I only use sponge filters in most of my aquariums.
@@TazawaTanks great. What size I can use for around 100l water? Its for planted tank with Norman's lamp eyes.
Do those filter come in corner version
I don’t believe so. They do have thin nano filters that can easily go in the corner though.
@@TazawaTanks I do have a question. I am doing some shopping today and got 2 (up to 60 gallon) sponge filters for my 125. I only have one tank and I was wondering would it just be good to run the power with just one. it has overflow and I've connected that to cascade cannister.
Can you only use sponge filters as your only filtration on your 60 gal Mbuna tank?
Yes. I do on my 75 gallon mbuna tank and my 75 gallon dwarf mbuna tank.
Tazawa Tanks thanks for your reply! One last question. We have low PH where I live. What do you recommend to bring it up within the proper parameters for Mbuna
anthony breuker I would add crushed coral or aragonite to my substrate and use a Cichlid buffer.
Tazawa Tanks I was wondering if you could offer some advice. I’m putting together a 60 gal Mbuna tank. Currently I’m trying to decide what type of Mbuna I’m going to put into it. Here are some fish I like. Let me know what you think.
Bumblebee
Yellow tail acei
Clown lab
Halomaylandi chizumulu
Kenyi
Marmalade fuelliborni
Blueberry OB Zebra
Cherry red zebra
Demasoni
Snow White
Msobo magunga
Cobalt blue zebra
Electric yellow.
@@anthonybreuker5206 I wouldn't get the bumblebee or demasoni. The are aggressive. Kenyi can sometimes be aggressive too.
It will be very educational to see how you hide these sponge filters. Your new Hikari filter is definitely of interest. Can we buy it on Amazon? How much is it? How many outlets?
The FujiMac pump has one outlet that needs to be plumbed into PVC pipe. I will make a video about it.
I saw Fuji Mac 80R2 on ebay for $230 with free shipping. I'm also interested to see which model Zenzo got, how much and a full review.
Ah 32k subs, explains mucho.. Still lookin swole bro.
👍
Arent sponge filters noisy tho cuz the hum from the air pump
It depends on the model of the air pump and where you put it. The great thing about an air pump is that you can hide it anywhere. It can even be hidden in a closet, as they don’t need to be near the tank.
Unfort i have no closet to hide it in it has to go under the tank in the stand which air pumps r quietest i have a 90 w about 24 adult peacocks/haps Which air pump & sponge filter/s would u recommend
Would anyone be willing to take a quick look at how I’ve got my sponge filter and hardscape set up? It doesn’t seem to be doing much if any polishing and I think I need to move it or get a smaller one
Edit: This is a 10 gallon with a small sponge
imgur.com/a/OkSUjjK
are sponge filters enough for goldfish?
Yes
What size tank do you use double stack sponges
Wait... you had to strain to lift it? So it weighs 400-500 pounds??
Does less ppi mean less room for beneficial bacteria?
Technically yes. But with higher density makes less water/air flow, so if not maintenance frequently BBA towards the middle of the sponge will die off (no oxygen). And imo any sponge can hold more than enough BBA, not including everything else on your tank. So these coarse sponges imo are huge for the hobby, better flow, healthier BBA, less maintenance. If u need to polish your aquarium due to small particles you can always wrap it with some sort of poly fiber and ruber bands for a few days. Go Niners!
Nano K, excellent answer.
🤠👍🏻👍🏻
The biggest concern is not holding enough bacteria
OMFG !!!!
Hard to go wrong with a sponge filter even if you already have decent filtration, theres no such thing as over mechanical and biological filtration!
If they sent you the sponge filters without you having to pay...Then they paid you for this advertisement.
These spongefilter aren´t able to filtrate most of your tanks on their own i guess, cause u said " i even got a sponge in my sump"... If you need alternative filtration why even bother to use spongefilters?
The sponge filter in the sump is for a few reasons. One reason is for the extra oxygenation. It also aids in a little extra biological filtration. Also, by having one in the sump, if I ever start a new tank, it's ready to go (already cycled).
If you look at the fish rooms of professional fish keepers and breeders, 90% of them use sponge filters exclusively.
