    This was the best explanation of luster that I have ever heard. Thank you!

    Showing different grades of the same coin design really helped see the differences. Thank you 😊 for the great educational videos. I have yet to purchase a $5 Indian for the type set. This video has prepared me to begin the search for a specimen.

    I really like the design on those but have always found them more difficult to grade. Seeing examples is helpful. Thank you!

    I'm looking at purchasing 2 of those now, one of them was graded at 62 and the other had been cleaned 🤔 both are in a annex slab?

    good vid with usefull info, im considering buying a $2.50 indian head online to be mounted on a signet ring as jewelry there ares two i looked at both ngc ms 61,ms62 the 61 is $500 the 62 is $600 im wondering if there is really any objective visual difference between the two both are being marketed in a plastic case with the ngc grading displayed

      Don't ever put these in jewelry, it will destroy their value.

    Hey Coin Geek what are those silver Littleton Select stickers that kinda look like those by CAC? I have been collecting PCGS & NGC coins & never seen them before. I highly doubt they were made by the Littleton Coin Company since they don't really deal in quality coins 🤣🤣

    • @jeffw1267
      @jeffw1267 Před 3 lety +1

      Littleton grades fairly and they have quality coins, but they charge usurious premiums for them. If they sell you a common-date raw MS63 Morgan dollar, it will BE an MS63... but they'll charge you $150 for it.

    Fir thought - Littleton has a sticker???? WTFFFFF whyyyy? If anyyyybody including brand new collectors is found to be lacking with their grades in coins IT'S THE LITTLETON COINS COMPANY!!! Right?
    Second thought - can we have a deeper dive into what makes a PF Morgan Dollar since it's one of the Holy Grail's that all collectors hope they find in a pawn shop one day ? :) I guess the videos up to this point don't show enough of the detail to convincingly and obviously relay things like how you were talking about specialized denticles in your previous video. Maybe some side by side further analysis would be nice? :)

    @ROGUESILVER Před 3 lety

    So why do cleaned Indians cost so much to buy but buy back is spot+ a few bucks...I know they are kinda lower mintages thru all dates but I dont understand why premiums are so crazy to get them but when you go to sell you dont get the premiums back becuse they are "cleaned or damaged". I love the Indian design but I never understood how shops play both sides to their advantage when it comes to these.

    • @jeffw1267
      @jeffw1267 Před 3 lety

      Then don't spend your money at that kind of a shop. That sounds blunt, but if I went into a new coin shop I'd listen to what the dealer says to other customers (and I'd note how he treats them), and I'd find out what his buy/sell offers are on American Eagles, for example. If he charges a big premium for them but buys them at spot, I'd know he was a crook and I'd leave. The same goes for gold coins. If you have a cleaned gold coin in a slab and someone wants to pay you spot, then jet out of there.

    • @ROGUESILVER
      @ROGUESILVER Před 3 lety

      @@jeffw1267 i wasn't saying that as a specific shop. I was just wondering why that's how these specific gold coins are treated. I've seen it at multiple shops and I've heard of alot of people buying cleaned raws and then being offered spot basically from the same shop when they went to sell to upgrade. I've just seen it happen with Indians specifically. Not liberty heads or anything. Im not much of a collector even tho I am kinda. Im more of a stacker but I do want to learn more about numismatics and I've just seen so much bs with Indians.

    • @ROGUESILVER

      @@jeffw1267 and I love Indians but never bought any because of all the inconsistencies I've seen or read about.

    • @jewyork718
      @jewyork718 Před 3 lety

      There are a lot of items in Numismatics like this. The buy/sell spread & attitude shift kills me. World Silver Crowns and cleaned higher grade type pieces are two I can think of.

    • @ROGUESILVER
      @ROGUESILVER Před 3 lety

      @@jewyork718 im not an experienced collector. Part of the reason I never got into numismatic stuff is that reason alone. The wind shift could kill my investment or speculation and its to much about feeling and things contradict themselves like this Indians. They claim premium when selling a cleaned coin due to over all lower mintage and survivability. But I've seen and heard people all say the same thing. They bought it at a premium and buy back is like bullion+ a little because its a problem coin. Idk im not a good judge of what the real reality is with them becusee as I said im not an experienced collector which is why im trying to understand why thsts all I've seen with them is this backsided sell to buy back price I've noticed. Or is what I've experienced not supposed to be like that and I've just seen and heard the wrong thing and these people basically just got taken. But it wasn't at the same shops either and I've heard online that is other peoples experience with them.

    Guessing that the "Littleton Select" stickers cost the original buyer a pretty penny.

    • @jeffw1267
      @jeffw1267 Před 3 lety

      I could easily see them marking up a coin like that 50%-75% over market value.
