- "Acting is a gorgeous profession, if you give it it's due" Larry Moss.
Larry Moss is one of the most renowned acting coaches alive today. In our interview we ask Larry what actors can do everyday to work on their craft.
If you're feeling like you don't know what to do as an actor, learn 4 monologues every 3 months. A simple, tangible acting goal from Larry Moss himself.
This interview was shot at the 16th Street Actor's Studio work shop in Sydney, Australia. - Zábava
"PEOPLE DON'T READ ENOUGH"
Very true!
Im trying vert hard to read more but now i just read abt 20 pages a day i’d like to read a lot but i just make excuses to do it later
@@luisedmd8890 ever consedered that you might have adhd?
Not to say that someone without it wont procrastinate .
Maybe you havent found the right books
I know it was like that for me
I needed to get used to liking books first , so i listened to audiobooks for a whille and then one time, the book i was listening to which was Dune 2, was missing half of the chapters, and i was so intl the book that i started reading it
And this is after having only 1 book that i read that i actually wanted to read, the ones at school i read, but only cuz i had to
So i recomend ya audiobooks, but on youtube whare you mjght not find some chapters, so if youre invested enough in the book, youll read that
Desides, better 1 audiobook, than no audiobook and no reading, right?
I mean, its not the same, but the same info is there. You can actively imagine what the nerrator is talking about too,as you listen.
Have a good day
1. vocal warmup
2. minimum of 4 monologues every 3 months, 2 contemporary 2 classical, one at a time.; one comedy one drama; swap w partner.
Who i am what i want the obstacle, what do i do to get it. Spontaneity is not possible. Physicality and character too.
Study the plays, the character. do the monologues diff ways daily.
Great resume
As a lit nerd, writer, performer, and confused new actress, this video TRUELY IS a gift from God.
I have watched this video a lot of times and each time i watch it i learn something new. That ladys and gentleman is a great teacher. He is a master at teaching actors. As a 16 year old boy I feel confused about this profession but this incredible man has open my eyes so much, i can not describe how great full i am with him. Thank you
It is a profound gift to study with this man. To even be in the same room with him is almost indescribable. He is a true Godsend for actors.
Does he still teach? If so, where? How can someone get in touch with him? Does he work with all actors? Thank you very much

I study theatre in Paris and I read his book last year he is amazing I wish I had your chance to study with him !
That’s a little much
This is pure gold. We're listening to a master.
Love this guy. Studied with him for years in the 80's (and a bit in the early 90's) and he knows. He is a living link to the original, great "modern" acting teachers of the 20th century, carrying on their traditions. Just got his book and it's marvelous. Highly recommend!
Hi
Good inspiriration
Book name please?🙏
Lakhvinder Singh The Intent to Live: Achieving Your True Potential as an Actor...I just got the book today haha
Why would you recommend his book? Is it for new actors?
I'm an adult actress and this advice really added a new depth to the rolls I play! Thanks 👍
So glad to hear, and thanks for the support!
Unlike a lot of acting teachers who like to play at being gurus (and many even find groupies to oblige in making them feel so), this guy sounds like the real deal. Would love to meet him!
Such poetry. I'm a new director and as I study actors, I came across Moss. I love his passion.
Amazing person, currently reading his book. Really awesome and learning alot.
This is good for all professions. Be proactive not passive.
For sure! Proactivity is the key!
I just watched the other video you uploaded of Dean Carey waffling on for 38mins about really nothing and got nothing. I watched this 5 mins video of Larry Moss and I am re inspired by this remarkable human with such precise and valuable advice about craft, acting, theatre, writing and humanity. Thank you.
I am taking notes here . Great this is. So greatly he is..
Larry's work is so incredibly insightful and clear!! Such an appreciation of the writer and their ability to shape, inform, inspire beautiful ideas.... and the work of actors finding their way inside stories.
Greg Kennedy absolutely! He's wonderful.
Thank you Larry Moss!
Amazing guy. Bought his book "The Intent to Live", after watching this and have been glued to it since. Thank you for making this video!

Great to hear!
Great stuff. True not only of actors but performers in general.
Absolutely! He is as much a self help guru as an acting guru!
Thank you so much 💚🙏😇
Such a great interview!
Elizabete Pauliute thanks Elizabete!
good advice, wish I'd had this twenty yrs. ago
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."
Very profound advice
this is absolutely amazing advice
Thanks so much, glad it resonated
What amazing advices, thanks for the video!
Thank you for the kind words - glad it was helpful!
I do my speech and breathing and put as I study cause it’s the only way I get all these things done. I try meditate the thoughts of character as I speak the text with cork in my mouth. Patsy Rodenburg is my fave. Etc. it’s hard to do all the extra when you work full time and life stuff lol.
Brilliant
Thank you
this is sooo profound and honestly process is the product
thank you larry
Such an important figure in the modern acting landscape!
I have his book "The Intent to Live" and is an amazing, self explanatory book. A+
It's so good! A very inspiring teacher.
Thank you! Every interview I hear people saying, “you gotta do the work, the work is important, blah blah. Here’s actual constructive advice.
Good to hear!
This was powerful
Great to hear it resonated
Amazing that you interviewed Larry! His book is always within arm's reach. His "Monologue Workout Program" is something I'm always working at!
He is great!
ThePoorBoy monologue workout program ? Is that in his book?
@@averhamilton8823 Yes, it's at the end of The Intent to Live! I believe that every actor should own a copy! Larry's approach is really inspiring, and there are some very useful exercises throughout his book!
@@ThePoorBoy awesome, looks like Ill get this one next
@@averhamilton8823 You won't regret it, cheers!
I like this man
He’s the best!
True words
Thanks Gil!

Right
Work actor needs to do
Vocal warm up
4 monologues per 4weeks different emotions
Understand wt ur bad at working on it
Confident voice
Not being closed emotionally
Work on dialogues voice accent of character on daily basis
100%
❤️
What I got out of this video is that it’s OK to go Wilds and unleash the emotion but also don’t be afraid to work with other people
Absolutely! Following your impulses is such an important part of being an actor
@@StageMilk it’s kind of like mindfulness being aware of the moment and just letting whatever’s happening happen?
@@ZephyrBW Absolutely! That is a great way of thinking about it
@@StageMilk holy crap that’s really something if that’s case people should be able to do it more often

Study & read...its a craft.
I feel attacked 😅
Acting without acting
Love these advice but it sucks when you got 1 or 2 hour less to do these. :( how do you get more hours when you squeeze 27 hours out of the 24 hours for the career
It is always hard to find the time in modern life. But always great if you can do this work!
Where to find monolouges?

Larry Moss: the destroyer of actor laziness.
That’s a great caption!
We always read though, youtuber title, this comment, text message, we are always reading on our phone
The word 'actors' doesn't need an apostrophe if it's just a plural, Stage Milk.
That’s the most irrelevant thing to point out...
There is no such thing as a comedic monologue
Interesting thought. As you in always play the truth?
