    Oh my GOD, you are SO stoned! Look , I love you, Geebz, no shade, but the first minutes of this are just... Incomprehensible...

      Yeah, probably shouldn't have done the video. However not stoned, NyQuil, wasn't feeling 100%

    • @Nitehawke
      @Nitehawke Před 9 měsíci +4

      I hate Nyquil but I'm a lightweight to begin with. Takes me half a day to shake off te aftereffects. I'm more awake the next day if I just cough myself awake all night long.
      Put a nice coat of Vicks on the bottom of your feet, put some socks on. Works better (I have no idea why, it just does) and skip the Nyquil. You won't feel so dragged out the next day.
      Feel better, dude!

    This song is a very clever retort to their critics (fans?) that were upset with the direction that the band was going. Architects are pioneers in Metalcore and were famous for many of these stereotypical sounds in this song, but when they started experimenting with different sounds, some fans were very upset with them (to the point of threatening them) since they were no longer as "Heavy" and "Angry". Thus the line "We only ever love you when you're seeing red." So they went all out heavy in this track. The funny thing is, that if you read the lyrics carefully, there are responses to these "fans" such as "Why do you want me to scream? Are you a junkie punk medicating for free?" and sarcastic lines like "I'll never grow tired of your great advice". Finally, during the breakdown, the lead singer stares down these fans and you hear "Are you happy now?". Since it's not easy to understand lyrics during the first listen, many of the "fans" couldn't realize the meaning at first, which I found comical. I love listening to your breakdowns of the musical aspects!

      my favorite past time this week has been seeing how long into each reaction video it was before the metal reactors realized it was a metal core dis track. Nik got it in

    • @Raynorlxix
      @Raynorlxix Před 9 měsíci +3

      @@ModelNoob Same here. It’s amazing how many are completely oblivious throughout the entire song. Even during “Are you happy now?”, they reply “Yes!“ Not realizing that architects will likely not make another song like this.

      @dougf9900 Před 9 měsíci +4

      And yet the song proves their critics’ point: their last album was weak. This song is miles better than anything off the last album, even if it’s a diss track. Unfortunate that the song was written under protest and may not signal a return to a heavier sound

    • @jjwhalen2587
      @jjwhalen2587 Před 9 měsíci +2

      To add to this.. Geebz mentioned the clapping during the breakdown. Again, a sarcastic flare... a little jab at "fans" who only like heavy breakdowns.

    For me, Wasted Years is the quintessential heavy metal song. Killer intro, killer riffs, unreal bass, amazing drums, and the vocals, melodic tenor and hook just embody everything I love about metal. For 30+ Years it’s been my yardstick.

    This song is basically a diss track to all their "fans" that said they loved the band but when they changed genres and styles, they were like RIP and this band sold out.The lyrics all reflect this, on the audacity of the world saying "WE LOVE YOU" and then you change and they are "RIP"and sending death threats.

    This song is hilarious. Band is literally crying about the fact that the longtime fans who got the band to where they are take issue with the fact that they sold out and started writing paint-by-numbers pop-core when they were once one of the most promising bands in their genre. Fans make band popular, band sells out and abandons all artistic integrity, fans get angry.
    People will say they "evolved" or started "experimenting," but that's a crock of shit. They "experimented" by doing exactly what all of their pop-sphere genre contemporaries were doing to get a slice of the mainstream pie because they care about money more than their music. It's generic, watered-down corporate-core written for money and as a pathetic attempt to bring back old fans....by bitching about them in a terrible song that fails to deliver even that basic premise. Song proves that the band has _no idea_ why the fans don't like their new material. Spoiler Alert: It has nothing to do with it not being as heavy, as this song seems to think it is.
    Their first three records: _Nightmares,_ _Ruin,_ and _Hollow Crown_ are excellent, but they've been in a mostly consistent downward spiral since, and this is just embarrassing. These guys have had the most severe fall-off of any band I think I've ever known.
