My 4th grade teacher was Chilean, my best friend's brother went on a mission trip to Chile for two years, I listen to Chilean artists like Los Prisioneros, Javiera Mena, Francisca Valenzuela, and Gepe. My Spanish for native speakers teacher lived in Chile for many years and introduced me to those artists and taught the class some Chilean slang and even gave us a quiz on it and I studied hard on it, so I knew the meanings of several of the words used in the video. Everyone in class loved the word "bacán" and my favorite song by Gepe is "Bacán tu Casa"

Most of these are actually in the Real Academia, they do indicate that they are colloquial words from Chile. I know this cause in Spanish class my teacher once told the class not pay attention to the word I used cause "I was making up words", to which I responded by showing her the word in the dictionary! :)

El slang existe en todas partes. Es una distorsión del lenguaje normal que lo hace sonar "cool" para la realidad local. El slang ha sido acuñado por los jóvenes para comunicarse entre ellos. En Chile se ha formado un slang casi oficial, una lista paralela para cada palabra del español normal. El problema es que hay gente que casi solo conoce esa forma de expresarse y es una limitación grave/gravísima. Me ha tocado viajar a otros países de América con amigos y prácticamente tengo que estar oficiando de traductor español-español, porque cada país usa un set de sinónimos del español diferente, su propio slang y su propio acento. Se puede volver inentendible, pero solo si eres holgazán, lo cual lamentablemente es muy común en nuestras tierras.
Considerando que todos deberiamos saber el Espan"ol correcto. Uno no debe hablar slang cuando no es apropiado. Hay un problema de educacion y relajo al hablar.

Hello, I'm chilean, and I know that the word pololo comes from a Mapuche word, it refers to an insect similar to a fly, this insect sticks on your clothes an follows you for several minutes, so the act of "flying" around someone or follow someone was called pololear. It was also the name for a pin used by the first firefighters in Chile, so if a young girl used that pin on their clothes, that meant a firefighter was in love with her. so they were pololeando

yo he estado con muchos extranjeros por intercambio y amigos de la vida, también cuando he estado en otros países y no es para nada complicado comunicarse, es mas, es una manera de entablar conversación super común sobre nuestra jerga informal y se abre un dialogo muy agradable, el querer conocer otra cultura. Por otra parte, decir que ser holgazán es común en nuestras tierras jajajaj que onda bro, a lo mejor tu conoces gente así, pero la verdad es que es una generalización horrible.

todos los países tienen sus modismos, siempre joden a los chilenos, pero todos usan palabras diferentes a veces para referirse a lo mismo... la base del español es la misma pero lo modificamos con nuestros modismos

Hello, I'm chilean, and I know that the word pololo comes from a Mapuche word, it refers to an insect similar to a fly, this insect sticks on your clothes an follows you for several minutes, so the act of "flying" around someone or follow someone was called pololear. It was also the name for a pin used by the first firefighters in Chile, so if a young girl used that pin on their clothes, that meant a firefighter was in love with her. so they were pololeando

No hablamos MAL, hablamos DIFERENTE, es un dialecto del español, es diferente al español, se conjuga distinto, se pronuncia distinto, además del obvio "slang" que tiene todo país. El Español Chileno es un DIALECTO del español. Decir que los chilenos HABLAMOS MAL es como decir que la comida típica chilena ESTÁ MAL porque no es paella, que es lo que correspondería a España. Absurdo. Y en fin, en Chile nos entendemos perfecto, tener el desierto en el norte, la cordillera al este, el océano pacífico al oeste y la Antártida al sur nos ha aislado, y como en toda población aislada su lenguaje evoluciona en forma autónoma y distinta. Así que a los que dicen que hablamos mal les respondo: "no estamos ni ahí con ustedes, a la chucha la weá" jajajaja
