Occidental Nuevo Vallarta Resort - All Inclusive
Royal Level with Royal Rooms from Barcelo.
    Resort written review
    Positives:
    - The beach, very gradual into the water, and no seaweed at all. (usually our most important feature)
    - The service, everyone was very friendly and many of the servers learned my name after a day.
    - Royal level add-ons: Highlights being the quieter pool and the restaurant on the 7th floor.
    - The rooms, they were massive and my family was really happy about the space.
    - The mini bars, they were always refilled with what we asked for. (usually just waters and snacks)
    - Food, was good overall. The royal level restaurant had the highest quality food, but the rest were good. The kids were happy with the selection at the main buffet. I really liked their cappuccino's.
    - Free use of their computers and printers on the 7th floor for royal guest (we had to print out our return flight, and this saved us a lot of hassle).
    Negatives:
    - Slower service on the 7th floor, only 1 service rep and she or the system was really slow. (she was really nice and apologetic)
    - Restaurant booking, royal level should be able to book for the whole week but we couldn't get reasonable hour for booking the a-la-carte restaurants (mainly the Japanese and Italian).
    - My in-laws got to try Japanese at 9:00pm one night, and it was so bad they were just laughing the whole time. (so I guess it's good we couldn't make it).
    - The shower pressure, during peak times it was only dripping out (unusable).
    - Noise, it was super loud even as high as we were, we could hear the party every night we put the kids to sleep. (we are okay with noise, but I can see how that'll be a big issues for other families).
    - Small resort, can probably walk around the entire property in about 30 mins if you really explored all the corners.

Hi, was your room called a Royal Level Master Suite? Was there a hot tub, how many bathrooms, and was the couch a pullout? Lastly, any details about your whale excursion? Any transport, snorkeling, and drinks/meals included?

Hi. Yeah, it was called that on the Barcelo site we booked from. I don't think the resort calls it that, though (kinda confusing, I know).
There was no hot tub, 2 bathrooms, and yes, the couch was a pullout, but we never used it (seemed kinda flimsy)
My in-law booked the whale excursion from a vendor on the beach. It was like $60 a person, and they left from the marina across the street (5 min walk away).
It was a speed boat that actually picked up more people from the main port in Puerto Vallarta. It did come with snacks (sandwich, water, and apple), but we didn't eat it as it was super choppy, and my kiddos got sick.
I'd recommend just paying a bit more for a bigger boat if you or your group gets sea sick easily. (Saw some for around $80 ish) but they did leave from the marina that you would probably need to taxi to. If you don't want to plan, book with the resort and they usually have it included (of course they'll add the charge for it too, but less hassle).
Hope that helps, and let me know if you have more questions. ^^ thanks for watching.

How did the check in work for royal level? Do you just go straight to the 7th floor when you get to the resort or do you have to wait in the lobby first?

Its just 1 giant entrance, so I went to the front, and they told me to go up to the 7th floor for royal check-in... honestly speaking, they are kinda strict with having to use the 7th floor if you are royal level.
FYI, you can only book for more than 1 day for restaurants from the 7th floor. (Although I found it impossible to book normal hours for certain restaurants)
