Recommendations
- Bring some of your own food (preference and cost savings)
- Ask for a higher level room, it's further to walk but we found it quieter and nicer overall (we had previously tried lowest floor room - where the waterpark entrance is and I found it a bit stuffy - still nice though)
- Order food from the app so you don't need to wait in line. (you can scan a QR code for the "Crazy loon" near their counter in the waterpark to get their menu.)
- They have a new high end restaurant called "Barnwood" that you must make reservations for if you are interested in trying it out.

We had a last-minute change to our travel plans, and I ended up finding a great deal with points to Asia from Canada. We ended up flying on our first ever business class flight! What were the inclusions for the diamond club? How much did you pay for diamond club?

You can find the info for the diamond club perks here: www.royaltonvaradero.com/diamond_club.asp (definitely didn't get everything listed though) I put my thoughts on it within the description if you are interested. I paid for it during a black friday deal approx $1800 USD (usually $3350 ish) but in terms of a regular vs diamond club room I can't quite remember the price difference (most likely a few hundred) It wasn't really worth it in my opinion though. (We didn't take full advantage of the free excursion and the Butlers were kind of hard to get a hold of or seemed like we were bothering them.) We had most our fun enjoying the beach and it was pretty quiet in the resort when we visited.

Hey Simon - looks like a wonderful trip. Wondering if you guys faced any shortages while on the resort ?! Water, food and electricity sort of thing. I'm thinking of planning a trip but I've been hearing mixed things about Cuba
No shortage at our resort, but we really didn't wander outside of the resort.. it was more of a relax and laze type trip for us. I hope you have a wonderful time if you decide to go. Although I do recommend bringing some travel toilet paper.
How did the check in work for royal level? Do you just go straight to the 7th floor when you get to the resort or do you have to wait in the lobby first?
Its just 1 giant entrance, so I went to the front, and they told me to go up to the 7th floor for royal check-in... honestly speaking, they are kinda strict with having to use the 7th floor if you are royal level. FYI, you can only book for more than 1 day for restaurants from the 7th floor. (Although I found it impossible to book normal hours for certain restaurants)

Hi, was your room called a Royal Level Master Suite? Was there a hot tub, how many bathrooms, and was the couch a pullout? Lastly, any details about your whale excursion? Any transport, snorkeling, and drinks/meals included?
Hi. Yeah, it was called that on the Barcelo site we booked from. I don't think the resort calls it that, though (kinda confusing, I know). There was no hot tub, 2 bathrooms, and yes, the couch was a pullout, but we never used it (seemed kinda flimsy) My in-law booked the whale excursion from a vendor on the beach. It was like $60 a person, and they left from the marina across the street (5 min walk away). It was a speed boat that actually picked up more people from the main port in Puerto Vallarta. It did come with snacks (sandwich, water, and apple), but we didn't eat it as it was super choppy, and my kiddos got sick. I'd recommend just paying a bit more for a bigger boat if you or your group gets sea sick easily. (Saw some for around $80 ish) but they did leave from the marina that you would probably need to taxi to. If you don't want to plan, book with the resort and they usually have it included (of course they'll add the charge for it too, but less hassle).
