- Had a chance to go through the new 2021 Shimano Nexave spinning reel which is a mid entry level reel that has had some impressive cosmetic changes and some pretty good specs considering it's price! I walkthrough the features and spec info in this video.

Line propulsion management and hagene gear system , what more could you ask for ....for 50 bucks.

Always thought it was a misstep for Shimano to not put out a spinning reel that matched the SLX lineup given the popularity of the line; good to see they've come around. The matchy-matchy crowd should be pleased! Nexave was always a solid budget spinning reel in the past, this one looks like a great reel for the money. I'm a bit surprised they're using the Nexave name for it rather than going with SLX-specific branding, though.
Agreed, I would have liked to see Nasci in this color scheme as the price points would have also matched.
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors Absolutely! I said the same thing on the Bass Resource forums a while back. The Nasci is a fantastic reel for the price but the name has no real pedigree, would've been an easy (and smart) change, IMO.
Can you give me some tips to identify the original Shimano Reel? a lot of fake Shimano reel available in our local market so your tips will be help me to get the original

I like the comparably priced Penn Pursuit III reels (the new IV looks awesome), but it seems like Shimano reels cast somewhat better with braid than the Pursuit and feel a bit smoother. Daiwa doesn't seem to have anything competive at this price point, but gets great one you step up to their BG MQ, Saltist, and Saltiga line-up.

Hi, quick couple of questions, what material is the reel, would the 3000 or 4000 reel handle 1 to 5kg salmon, what material are the bearings and gears inside the reel, and what is the biggest fish that 2500 reel can handle? If you can't answer them all, you can just answer the ones you know, thanks.
Pretty sure the frame is graphite and the bearings are standard bearings, not shielded anti-rust bearings like in their higher end reels. The reel will have no issues with 1-5KG fish if maintained and used properly... a 2500 size reel should never have more than 10 lb mono or fluorocarbon spooled onto it or braided line above 15lbs. The gears are a standard gear, not Cold Forged aluminium either but the reel is on the lower end for price and you are getting quite a good performer for the money.

I planned on getting the 3000 for inshore fishing. Would this work?
For smaller species yes, just be sure to be diligent with the proper maintenance as saltwater is incredibly tough on reels. Especially ones without moisture treatments.

What's the difference between the 4000 and C5000? Other than the 2 extra inches per turn?
Line capacity would be the biggest difference. Same size body as the 4000 with a smaller arbor on the spool to hold more line.
Can I go from right hand and left hand on the spinning reel on my Shimano 4000Hg it’s still in the package and I haven’t opened it up yet

Hi. Can I use this reel for saltwater fishing?
You can but I would be very diligent at cleaning it properly after each use as the salt will wreck it quick. Use a Salt Away type product when done fishing or a mix of half Windex half water in a spray bottle to mist the reel. Do not hose it down as that drives any saltwater into the body

I picked up the 4000 nexave on sale at canadian tire for 50$ and ordered the new 2022 model slx one piece in a 7ft. Can't wait for the rod to come in so I can try out the combo

I believe it is, yes. If it were aluminium, it would be listed as a Hagane Body

No, no SARB bearings in this reel. Not at this price point.

Depends on the size of lures you are throwoing but the drag is 20 lbs so more than enough for 90% of Pike fishing, especially with smaller baits and inline spinners
