I use the 3000 which has 19lbs of drag for inshore fishing and have had great great time with it, it is at 9oz reel for anyone looking for a small reel that is to me light cause I used it all day with no fatigue. Then I bought the 4000 for set it and forget it’s. The 3000 is my go to. Great video and info. Thanks.

Shaminao and Daiwa have good balanced reels low to high not many other companies do that I noticed Abu is starting to step up on there lower end reels but still not as good as those 2 I feel the Japanise reel market is focusing more on lower end equipment which is smart

Awesome. Very informative. I can afford the more expensive gear but why. I’m a weekend warrior and would rather spend that $ in my little girl making fishing trip memories. Thank you sir for showing us what Shimano marketing didn’t failed to do. I’m sold and most likely ordering then 4000 model.

Thanks for the great review! I'm probably going to buy the 2500HG and 4000HG for me and my buddy. Some years ago I bought the fantastic Stradic CI4 4000FA with the great gear ratio 5.8:1. So I actually wanted to buy my friend a new Stradic reel but none have that great gear ratio 5.8:1. I also looked at similar price models but the all have low gear and high gear 6.2:1. I didn't check the Nexave models but now I see that great 5.8:1. It's something special. Around 90cm retrieve length, depending how full your spool is. At the moment these reels are very cheap but totally worth. You should try a Stradic from 15 year ago and the new Nexave will be smoother and better overall. I had the whole Stradic family 15 years ago in the awful baby blue color. Like someone mentioned below, the Nexave 3000HG model has double the drag (8.5kg 19lb).

Always keep a few of the less expensive Shimanos on Ugly sticks spooled up for when it's time to take other folks out fishing with me. Also, I've been known to throw a couple additional perch/bluegill rods out while casting for bass. Great way to build up quantity of gear without going broke!

Instead of backreeling, just reduce back pressure. The reason shimano takes them out is because it is another point of failure. Also somewhere that sand/water/grit can get into. I prefer not having the anti-reverse.

I was in the same situation as you. Ended up going wit the Shimano just cause it’s a Shimano. I tried both the Revros and Nexave and in the end it just came down to the brand. The Revros is a nice light reel as well though don’t get me wrong. It was a tough decision. Can’t go wrong wit either or.

@@reachmiked You’re right, Daiwa Revros LT 2000 is very light, I got both of them for Father’s Day, My Son bought me Daiwa Revros, and Wifey bought me the Shimano Nexave, I paired Nexave with Scheels Outfitters ProAngler rod, Daiwa with Okuma Celilo 1 piece UL 4.6”.

I wanted to say all my fishing combos are under 100 dollars except for my Abu 5000 I got years ago for saltwater and fishing for big game freshwater as my budget is limited people on a lower budget you can get good rods n reels for 30 to 50 bucks buy a reel first then next time you get money buy a rod ect... that's how I do no need to spend hundreds at a time same with baits you don't need 30 dollar baits lots of decent baits 4 to 10 dollars ect.. plastic worms same you don't need 10 dollar bags you can get baits cheaper that work as good....

It will balance better with the rods that are normally used for trout fishing. The line used for trout fishing range from 2 to 6lb test.If you used a 2500 size reel with 2lb test it would take around 500 yards or more to fill the reel properly.
