The beach aspect really gives you some perspective. I've surfed it 6-8 and it is truly heavy. To be in the water at this size is unimaginable. Props to these guys.

I vividly remember a printed guide of different Mexican surf spot spots from years ago before everything was online. In it's description of Puerto Escondido: "Guaranteed broken bones and contusions. Experts only."
I've been to Pasquales in Colima state Mexico. Stayed a month in a tent with the fishermen of the village. Amazing time. Wave 18 to 25ft faces. Scares me to this day. But I'd paddle out everyday
Same here, sorta. A buddy went down there with his brother. First paddle out on a medium day and a set wave breaks right on his brother back. He broke his back before making it to the lineup, can you believe that shit? He didn’t even catch one wave, lol. Not paralyzed but had to fly back to the states because of the pain.
Check out Pavones in Costa Rica. It's not that big but it's the longest warm water left in the world. And it's good for watching too, the lineup is pretty close.
I’ve surfed there close to this size & suffice it to say, it cured my constipation. Yea, it breaks REALLY hard & if you go for one, ya better commit 110% because if you miss it, you’re left in the impact zone for what’s behind it.
@@happyedwards8134 - why some surfers embrace stupidity, is beyond me. I could have written in terms you could relate to but it would have been too painful. Believe what you want & play armchair critic to your hearts content, I couldn’t care less.
Spent 25 solid years chasing that barrel, saw lots of injuries and several drownings. Hats off to the latest chargers, but your by no means the first. Lotta hard chargers we’re already pulling in!
Wow,, ,, ,, nice shot, looks like the waves are about to reach those on the beach, and their just sitting there :) but of course, they're very far apart huh
I feel like the proximity to the beach must lull some folks into thinking this is an easy Break...........I for one wouldn't even risk paddling out. My stomach churns when my local Break exceeds 4 or 5 foot............. Respecto total a los Gigantes esses!
Me seeing the amazing waves gotta keep myself over I always watch amazed riding the heavy waves with heavy music like Delta Parole or with relaxing music videos in background.
My memories of this place are majestic like my memories of puerto rico, puerto has hotter ocean water than puerto rico. with waves, like the bubbles are cool or ocean foam is cool and once you get in the water is like a jacuzzi. Ive been in puerto where the ocean water felt like hot water coming out of a shower.
My friend Shaun Dollar, rode a" then world record 61 footer, In Mexico( no name but you can, " bank on it"), and got seriously hurt in A6- 8 foot wave in Northern California.Try broken neck, not always the size but what lurks below! But that wipeout, betcha a good ear ringer!
If it's a beach break that big, it must be Puerto Escondido. Hey! The water looks pretty clean out there today for a change. Someone tell the harbor master about the pollution!
Don't be fooled by the telephoto lens used here. Its hugely compressing the depth of field. Check out the houses on the hill. They're actually very far away.
And I thought my four foot beach break was pumping 🤣
Same out here at Myrtle beach lol

Truth, I’ve surfed it @1 meter and it’s heavy;)
That looked even better than pipeline.
Used to surf there as a kid and loved it! Nowadays I’m content to watch... Thanks for the video and memories!
The scale of the waves so close to the beach is really alarming. Great perspective.
The trick is to stand back and use a humongous zoom. This makes things look much closer to each other than they actually are.
It's not that close at all..
I vividly remember a printed guide of different Mexican surf spot spots from years ago before everything was online. In it's description of Puerto Escondido: "Guaranteed broken bones and contusions. Experts only."
Yes I think I remember that too Low Pressure world surf spots I think
I wiped out so hard at Esco that it took not 1 but 2 doctors to pull my head out of my ass..
...I haven't been right since...
2001 one morning I just saw a mother crying there and people consoling her.
I just can't believe how close to the shore this breaks !
Amazing stuff !
Yep noticed that right away. Too close to shore.
Ok loopkomol
This is zoomed in from the distance, its like taking telescope zoom picture of a moon in the background of a city.
Damn, that's a heavy wave.
Yo, those are some serious waves of consequence.
So heavy
Death being one of the probable consequences.

me too, best wave of my life & worst wipeout....incredible spot, broken boards everywhere
Vinniiiiiieeeeeeeeeee! Legend, charger! We're proud of you back home!
This isn’t Mexican pipe. This is heavier and deserves its own name
I agree these look really aggressive and heavy. Not the smooth graceful curl that I associate with the pipeline.
This is my favorite wave to watch when it’s big like that.
Teahupoo 2k21??
These guys are f****** crazy!.. Awesome!
A very steep beach and big waves mean Doctor Pain is in the house!
Puerto es muy hermoso!!
I have a buddy who got parallelized for the rest of his life surfing there. This place is no joke.

That's no joke. Those things are happening every week somewhere around the world.
😔
Dark that's heavy.
That's insane!!! Raw power!!!Respect to you guys takes a gut effort to paddle into those behemoths from west Oz
Just beautiful !!
I thought HB was pumping today ... this is next level 😬😬
That is some serious waves 🌊
Oh Vini te pasaste... increibles olas !!! Saludos a Marina y cuidensen x
Beautiful!!!
Incredible!
this the type of wave i see and i go to another area lmao
Vini representing! Viva Mexico!
Que bueno seria estar ahi! Saludos desde Argentina 2021
That guy rode the wave so well then just decided to bail right into the impact zone
Better chance of survival then going for the lip.
It closed down on him he didn't have a choice
Nowhere to get out of it.
he had no where else to go...the whole thing was closing out right on the shore
Wasn’t many options.. think he took the best one
Looks scarier that pipeline
I agree it's so much more Fierce
There’s no reef
I'd take semi shallow sandbars over shallow waist deep sharp reef, any day. Nothing is scarier than Pipe and chopes.

No U haven't. Let's be honest when people write 7 lines and use 'suffice to say' I'm really awesome at surfing it's just a lie

What kind of board did you use for such a wave? Did you travel with a 8ft+ gun or just a stepup? 🏄💥

@Juan Taco 🌮🌊😂
I've been slammed there so many times. Had my shorts ripped clear off and they were balled up around my leash
I could tell that this wave is bigger, better and heavier than pipeline
More please! 👍
That last guy ditched his board right under the lip 😂
That's crazy dangerous. It looks like someone could get pile driven into the sand in 4-5 ft of water from 25-30 feet up.
This place is just unreal.
I legitimately have nightmares like this.
See you guys in 5 years when this gets recommended to me again
Almost looked like yeah, then when bro was in the frame I was like nah!😂 looked like his board took dat lip dead center 💥

Is this Puerto Escondido?
I wanna go watch the surfers there. I live north of there in Acapulco. 😎🤙🌊🏄🏻♂️
Is the appearance of a shore break an optical illusion caused by the camera location and focus? How deep is the water where it's breaking?

it’s right there
slightly above my comfort level.
Well, that's not a comfortable type wave, it's a do or die type wave. Most probably die.
