A little bit of a correction, the Titan versions of the characters from Liu Kang's chapter are implied to be the versions from their ladder endings, not strictly the endings of MK11's dedicated story mode.

1. The reveal that ALL the MK11 ending are canon is awesome
2. I love how so many people agree that Reptile should be the final fighter that helps Liu Kang. Our boy went from secret boss fight, to a jobber to a main character in his own right and its GREAT!
3. I love the reunion between Liu and Kitana. These characters have been denied a happily ever after so many times its not even funny anymore.
4. Can we just talk about how good this game is? Sure the multiverse storyline has been done to death by this point, but they did it well and they took the time to give a soft reboot so many characters, while also acknowledging the history of the franchise. Its just such a breath of fresh air.
Baraka, Reptile, Mileena and Geras were the biggest winners here in my opinion.

Liu kang is a little bit of a dumbass we should have seen titan subzero and titan scorpion instead of fan lady but still a great game
1. Multiverses sucks. Making all the endings of the worse MK story canon is not a good thing.
2. Reptile doesn't make any sense here. Raiden would've been the perfect choice:
- Raiden was the only one to fight the Deadly Alliance in the original timine, the rest died to the tarkatan horde. He was the one to kill them in the end.
- At the start of MK9 Raiden fought on top of the pyramid and was the one to introduce timetravel/manipulation into the MK franchise.
- Raiden was the one to make this Liu Kang a god in the first place, allowing this timeline to even exist.
- Raiden in this timeline was Earthrealm's champion.
3. This shouldn't even be "his Kitana", but even if it was, in the previous timeline they had no time or opportunity to develop a relationship. They had one scene together where Kitana was still on the badguy side, and Liu Kang mocked her by toying with her. There's no reason for them to be on kissing terms.
4. This game did a bad job with the multiverse. The whole thing feels like bad fanfiction, and there's nothing new in the story - almost every thing is a reference to older MK games / plots in one way or another, and a bad immitation at that. Some references even show up several times because the writers are creatively bankrupt. And every reused plot was done worst than it was originally. It actually spits on the history of the franchise and the charaters by the way they've bastardised old storylines and lore, and swapped characters around or made them caricatures.

I think the biggest problem with this story is how quickly act 3 gets resolved. Titan Shang reveals himself and then in one chapter we defeat his entire army and in the very next we stop him from enacting his backup plan and send him back to his timeline. We needed at least one, maybe two more chapters between 12-14 to let the story flow better.
It would have also helped with the sudden gut punch of the multiverse as well if they saved that drop till 14 and we got multiple chapters of just assuming it was the two after Shang revealed himself.
18:17 this moment moved me to tears, I had to pause for a few minutes to clean my self up. Such a powerful line.

The good:
All of the first two acts. No joke. Everything in the first two acts is really strong. Baraka and Reptile being good is awesome, Mileena and Tanya being good is awesome, Johnny rules, the flipped Liu Kang/Raiden dynamic is great, Ermac’s creation rules, and Sindel is back to being good too. Choosing to keep the events of MK11 canonical was risky but they pulled it off. It makes sense for Shang Tsung to be the villain, because he will ALWAYS be the bad guy.
The bad:
The chapter system (as usual), Sub-Zero turning evil (done poorly, Sub-Zero isn’t evil unless Bi-Han becomes Noob), everything about Nitara (Megan Fox is a complete waste), jump straight to multiverse instead of staying grounded with just two timelines (kinda overwhelms the third act), the Armageddon ending being very rushed (leave that for an MK2 reboot), no Sonya or Kano (if you’re gonna rename the series MK1, you should at least have the original 7 characters all be playable)
The thing about Sonya and Kano is not a negative point, they did not fit at all with this story and they had a lot of focus in the 3 previous games, it doesn't hurt them to rest this game.
Nitara’s character is in need of a voice refresh bc Megan was giving NO conviction in her voice 😂
She gave the energy of reading a script rather than actually speaking as a character.
I figured he'd choose reptile for the last chapter.
I honestly feel the story falls apart as soon as it focuses on different timelines and getting random characters from there for the final showdown.
Give me more of the low power mortal kombat from the beginning, I really loved that part.
The story falls apart from the Lin Kuei chapter. Bi Han being a 1-dimentional villain. The pyromancer brother who can melt steel swords getting defeated by a tiny ice dagger, and scared of getting burnt. Beyond that it just devolves into multiverse shite, and the main villain making the same mistake as the previous one: revealing themselves and their plan to the heroes, which arms them with the knowledge to defeat the villain.

i think what sets MK1 apart from MK11's story is that it feels very indulgent in its ridiculousness in the third act. as much as i don't like how hard it fell apart, it's at least just goofy with it whereas with MK11 i felt like the bad shit was actively egregious and annoying lol

I kinda love the fact that MK1 ending not only let you choose who you get to fight in the last chapter, but makes an refernece to the original mortal kombat, where "anyone" can beat final boss Shang Tsang to be the winner (since Lui Kang makes a joke about being called the "chosen one")
MK1 is legit a good game, I mean there are issues which can be fixed and changed, but overall it's legit a breathe of fresh air, actually fleshing out charcters like Baraka and Reptile and making them actual fan favorites of the series, the fact that Mileena doesn't turn into a villain and is a good guy is also a good twist and They have Good Sindel FINALLY (Tho Nitara sucks as she is a jobber and Megan Fox is a terrible voice actor)

16:17 I think that it's commendable that Shao can even fight, cause in his bio it basically says that Lu Kang nerfed him into oblivion.
Yeah, same with Onaga. He's become feral, no real intelligence. But they were 2 of the strongest fighters and Shai is still General and Onaga is chained up. I think there's a disconnect between what the lore says and what the developers did, since of course you can't nerf one of the favorite and most used characters so hard that he can't fight anymore.
It's the same with player characters that can lift up bridges but struggle with a chest. It's called ludonarrative dissonance. Some things the player just has to accept since the game wouldn't be fun without it.

the third part wasnt bad, it was just fun af, and the last cutscene? man maybe the chaosrealm is coming in shine for the first time in a rlly long time and thats exciting
The developers could have just given us edgy reskins of the current roster, but really went the extra mile with a randomized pool of crazy OCs as final opponents.
The first and second act of the game are absolutely beautiful. I really enjoyed the local adventure of heores, and Jonny was actually like able. Through their adventure they found new friends and strengthened their bonds with each other. The third is controversial though I liked parts of it, and I hated parts of it
Things that still confuse me:
- Why did Titan Tsung even interfere in this timeline; he could kind of fought Liu Kang at any time [with Dark Raide, Evil Sinder, Evil Fujin (where is he btw), Evil Geras] but he decided to turn Shang Tsung, Quan-Chi and Shao evil
- Why did Titan Tsung order Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi to revive Great Army, he didn't knew about other timelines so did he needed - as a Titan - an army of rock soldiers to conquer Liu Kang's world
- Good guys in Chapter 13 kind of figured it out that if they beat evil version of themselves they'll close the portals - somehow Evil Shao was in control of all portals
- I kind of thought that Liu Kang returning back to Keeper of Timeline will take his role as a Protector of Earthrealm permanently but I guess he's fine?
- To show Titan Tsung's army they could've easily use all those missing characters from MK11 istead of Evil Kenshi, Evil Smoke etc. (or maybe mix it)
- I really don't know which Titan Kitana Liu Kang brought back - is she like from his arcade MK11 ending / ending where Liu beats Kronika 2-0 and create a new world with her like wth how is she "his Kitana" and he is "her Liu Kang"
- Titan Tsung somehow finds Liu Kang with hourglass
- Whole Armageddon thing got me hyped up but when I just think about previous things I've listed ... Idk how to feel about this game like Ch1-13 are great but later
- Armageddon world is supposed to break because of Titan Tsung death but we still see Titan Havik cutscene?
And to be honest the only thing that could fix ending is expansion but not with Titan Havik (stop with multibullshitverse) but where Good Guys beat Deadly Alliance - Raiden said that he can't believe Johnny is going to make a movie about them beating Shang Tsung (and later Liu Kang said that Tsung, Quan-Chi and Shao are imprisoned) so they could show us this version of the story and maybe they could have give us chapters with Smoke and Kitana something that was missing in this game
But tbh MK1 story is probably in my top3 MK stories so far (MK movie from 1995 and Snow Blind)
I can try to answer these
- My guess is Shang is just petty and figure since Liu Kang is already pretty weak, he’d be an easy target. This also probably isn’t the first time he’s done this.
- I think he says he needed the souls in the crown rather than the crown itself, as for why he needed the souls idk.
- I’m pretty sure Shao was the only one in charge of the portals and the rest were just backup.
- In his ending which are considered canon, he explains that while he was able to relinquish his role as
Keeper of Time again, it came at the cost of his immortality so he passed that role to Geras.
- Yes, yes it could have although tbf, you see the kameos in the crowd so I guess that helps.
- It’s MK11 Kitana, Liu Kang brings up seeing her crowned as Kahn in the arena. It’s just the version of Kitana that won the fight against Kronika.
- Yes, yes he does. Maybe it doesn’t move around too much or because Shang is a Titan, he can sense it? Idk this part of the story sucks.
- Yeah they really could’ve saved the timeline shenanigans for later and just allowed current Shang to be the villain while keeping the real identity of “Kronika” a secret but oh well, here’s hoping the Story DLC is better.
- My guess is Titan Havik took control before it fell apart? Or maybe Liu Kang was overreacting idk.
While I will say the multiverse needs to take a break after MK1, I don’t think it doesn’t have any place in the story moving forward. As for Johnny dictating the story, I think it would’ve been funny to have them snap away and reveal the entire ending was a pitch by Johnny to make the ending sound more badass than what it was.
Yeah, Shang Tsung did all of this out of pettiness. He could've enjoyed to be a Titan in his own timeline, but I guess having Liu Kang existing somewhere is rubbing him the wrong way lmao

I also thought the story took a nosedive as soon as MK11 Shang Tsung revealed that there are multiple timelines. Timelines and multiverses just kill any stakes in stories, turning them into utter schlock.

I like alot of Things of this Story, making Ermac’s MK9 Ending Canon, Mileena being Good and Tragic, making MK1 a Deadly Alliance Prequel, Liu Kang having the Best Character Evolution in a Long Time rather than to kill him isto the Undead, Alan Lee Sean T. Krishnan plays as Great Shang Tsung and Quan Chi with good Imitations to Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Ronald Banks, Giving Characters a Time to Shine while setting up a Fun Plan, having a Controversial Finale that’s Dumb and Fun, and the Ending might set up a Expansion Story Mode in the Future with Havik being the Main Villain, Sure I have Some Issues, mainly for how they Retcon Tanya’s Character which is my least Favorite Character in the Roster and I Wish the Roster was Larger but it’s a Solid Story Mode that’s a 8 out of 10, it’s way better that MK11 and Aftermath but not MK9 and MKX, Story Mode.
MKX's story mode is easily the worst one, the Kombat Kids, Shinnok getting it extremely dirty, its just so bad and has a horrible ending. The only really good parts were the Subzero and Scorpion "tea party" and Scorpion killing Quan Chi, but the rest... geez

The Titan Havik reveal at the end would have had more impact if Havik wasn't already a playable character in this game. Still, great game. Loved that the traditionally jobber characters like Baraka, Reptile, and Mileena got a chance to shine in this timeline. I also love that the fights in the last chapter are all randomized. I got a Shao/Johnny Cage hybrid that wore Johnny's fur coat skin and Shao's mask. I don't remember his name, mostly because I was too busy laughing. I also got a female Johnny Cage called Janet Cage and a Sub-Zero/Nitara hybrid called Blood Chilled (if I'm remembering correctly).
I personally took it more as in a reminder to the veterans that ...oh yeah Havik being a guy from Chaosrealm who wants nothing but absolute chaos would totally not take the peace of the realms as fine. If the next MK game focuses on exploring other realms like Chaosrealm that would be really neat.
Last act was still of a mixed mess, but at least to me it didnt felt like a complete utter garbage fire like previous MK stories. There were both good and bad parts to it.

Look just to clear this up for those of you who are confused. Mk1 is saying that every arcade ending from mk11 is canon. That means there’s a timeline where kuai liang sub zero won and became keeper of time. A timeline where kung Lao beat kronika and became keeper of time, that’s where he came from. Even a timeline where kano won and rewrote reality, as evidenced by mk legends snow blind.
Yet there are Keepers of Time based on MK1's roster, that weren't present in MK11, but no Keepers of Time based on MK11 roster of characters that don't appear in MK1.
Also, based on the canon MK11 sotry, there's literally no way for some of the MK11 roster to become Keepers of Time in the first place, like those who died earlier in the story or had no way of getting to Kronika's Netherealm fortress.
I'd say that the only ending that were canonically possible are the Liu Kang and Shang Tsung ones..... HOWEVER.... Technically, due to the established rules of timetravel in MK11, Aftermath shouldn't even have been possible, therefore neither should Shang Tsung's ending. So the only possible outcome would've been Liu Kang's.
@@EndoScorpion dude it’s a multiverse for a reason, Shang tsung said his battle with liu kang sent shock waves throughout time fracturing it and creating new timelines . This shockwaves most certainly caused slight differences at different points in the timeline, maybe it caused reptile to become human looking in some timelines and defeat kronika, or maybe it caused nitara to suddenly want to join the fight against kronika and defeat her, becoming keeper of time. As for mk11 characters not returning, they clearly had a budget and didn’t want to spend money on models that wouldn’t even be playable. Or maybe they were there, and we couldn’t see them, such as noob saibot or skarlet. The kombat kids were there, and they weren’t playable, but cassie and jaqui were playable in mk11.
@@victordelatorre8102 Fire god Liu Kang was only able to get close to and defeat Kronika because his new Godliness made him immune to the time reversal (the same reason why Raiden didn't get frozen in the Fire Gardens when the rest did). So the only way other characters could've got close to and defeated Kronika is if they were Gods.... meaning Raiden gave them his godliness. Also, by saying that all the MK11 endings are canon, and that all the playable roster became Keepers of Time, it implies it's only those characters. Not non-playable characters that weren't even in the game (like Reptile and Nitara).
The devs made a ton of outfits for characters for the story mode that don't seem to be useable/playable outside of storymode. That's a lot of work for models that aren't playable. A lot aren't even playable in the storymode as they are worn by non-playable characters (since not all the playable roster is playable in storymode, and characters wear different outfit in different chapters even when the player isn't playing as them.
We know we're getting Takeda, and I'm willing to bet NRS will release the other Kombat Kids in future Kombat packs, so those skins will probs be used at somepoint. But even if they're not.... NRS went to the trouble of making them, for a

I think the Havik at the end is from the original midway timeline, as in intro dialogues we learn that Mk1's Havik is actually Dairou!!
Having a good version of even Shang Tsung and Quan Chi is hilarious to me, they even had them fight the evil versions and lose.

Well explain the last chapter ending:
Basically no matter what character you get to choose, *enemies you fight will be appeared RANDOMLY* (they either fused 2 characters, genderbenderized ninja or bring back other OG MK characters like Cyber Smoke)
so the last chapter is definitely worthy for replayability (all you do is pick a character to help Liu Kang. However, some other characters you've picked like Sindel & Liu Kang are pretty much from alternative timeline)
Fun thing: if you picked Kitana, once the cutscene with the kombat kids happened, Kitana would thank the Titan Kitana as "Thank you sis"

I played the end as Mileena and I got so excited at the triple Mileena scene because I assumed that was unique to the character. I was a tiny bit disappointed to know that the test your might section is always the same, but I know it would be super difficult to redesign that entire section for each character. Still, it was really cool seeing my Mileena come out as the best one

Personally I think SHAO ZERO is the best one and hope we get that skin. Shao with that skin with Kameo Subzero will be the closest we get to Shao Zero being playable

The variety of alternate versions of characters there are in the finale makes me miss the days of create-a-character being in so many fighting games.
Scorpion with the chain was his Crowning Moment of Awesome. I hope Netherrealm keeps Kuai Scorpion around as the coolest character ever. Maybe we get to see Hanzo become a cryomancer and take up the role of Sub Zero The Second in this timeline? Time will tell.

Idk how you’re not more excited for fusions, yes FUSIONS NOT SKINS, of various characters in most likely the next game.
Think about it, you would be able to create so many various combinations of characters and their abilities. Maybe even combinations of x-rays/fatalities. They were teasing it throughout the entire last act and basically confirmed it with Haviks speech in the end credit scene. The next game is going to be the most ambitious one yet due to this fusion feature.
