    Dose Bonsmashing or wolf law works?

    Are these only possible with traditional braces? Minimal anchorage seems ideal but I would be using Invisalign for my orthodontic treatment.

      We use anchorage whenever we are moving teeth, regardless if it's traditional braces, mobile appliance or invisalign. Teeth don't care about the appliance used, all they care about is if some force is pushing or pulling on them :)
      So, yes it's is quite possible to use minimal anchorage with Invisalign !

    Can mewing reverse class 2 elastics?

    • @drstojanovicvladan
      @drstojanovicvladan  Před 17 dny

      If by mewing you mean keeping your tongue on the palate, that is just a natural resting position of the tongue. And swallowing with a tongue there is just a natural and healthy way to swallow.
      I see no reason it could reverse side effects of CL II elastics. But if you are not doing the above already, it is still a good idea to give it a try :)

      @@drstojanovicvladan I have no space for my tongue because of the class two elastics.

    Hey does wearing class 2 elastics rotate both of your jaws clockwise?

    • @drstojanovicvladan

      Interesting question!
      Yes, it does. If nothing else is being done to prevent this.
      Which, depending on your face can be beneficial, but usually isn't !

      @@drstojanovicvladan can this lead to a smaller airway, TMJ and longer face?

    • @drstojanovicvladan
      @drstojanovicvladan  Před 28 dny +1

      I am not aware of any studies linking cl II elastics with smaller airway. It was more a discussion about teeth extractions and shrinking airway space - which i did a video about as well :)
      As for TMJ problems, it is more likely to solve TMJ problems by correcting the bite, which is why we give elastics, then to cause it. But when we give elastics to patient we closely monitor any effects on the TMJ. Sometimes patients report TMJ pain while wearing them after which i would adjust the treatment. Orthodontics is not a surgery, it's a process and everything is slow, gradual and reversable.
      Longer face is quite possible. The main reason for it to happen is the "modern" style of giving elastics on very early wires , the elastic causes extrusion of lower molars and pulls upper frontal teeth down - thus rotating the whole lower face down :/
      It can happen with the strongest wires as well, let alone the thin NiTi wires we use at the start of the treatment. But when it is a concern for patients face it can be prevented.
      Let me ask you, are you seeing any of these side effects or are you just concerned about prevention?

      @@drstojanovicvladan yes I think both of my jaws have been rotated by elastics. I also had twin block braces before the elastics. Does twin block braces grow the jaw? I was 17 when I had twin blocks.

    • @drstojanovicvladan
      @drstojanovicvladan  Před 17 dny

      @@user-nr5ol6ec1w I wouldn't expect twin block to do anything at 17. Also, you would've had to wear it close to 24/7.
      If used at the right time, just before and during the growth spurt, we see clinical evidence it works (it's subject to some debate how much of the effect is skeletal but for all intents and purposes it works - in short).
      It doesn't grow the jaw itself, but it repositions it and bone "growth" is shown on the temporomandibular condyle.
