When you have the filter out, check for old trapped leaves inside that part of the vent duct, as they can rattle behind the filter (a known problem). Also trapped leaves can be at the fan motor, so that's another place to check,if you get this leave rattle problem. Col.
Thanks for the good video/details. I ordered a new cover for the cabin air filter housing,because somebody before me broke the plastic clip on the top. The cover will not hold very good,if the cover is broken, and air will be coming out of the A/C housing at the wrong position. And that is no good,if you have the A/C running in the hot summer,condensation/little water drops, were at the surrounding area.

LOVE THIS !!! I had TWO smart cars bevore this one & they moved it on this one !!!! NICE to know where they moved it to !!!! & how to get to it ! GLAD I CHECKED COMMENTS !!! the Trim Removal wasnt needed , acces is there withouiut it !!!!! Makes sense as the old one was that way too , IF you could find it was the only issue & is great now that I know where to look !!!!

You can also access this from the passenger side which is much easier when you have the manual gearbox
