I stopped watching television over twenty years ago. However, I was fortunate enough to discover Trevor's brilliance while watching CZcams. My hope and prayer is that Trevor continues to be a part of America's cultural awareness as he inspired everyone to think about issues and challenges us to act with conviction WITH (I might add) A SMILE ON OUR FACE most of the time. He mainly received hate bc he did this show from a democrat position! He clearly doesn’t think that democrats are the best or is the right party to be in.
Him on between the scenes or just in videos like this showed that he wasn’t really about parties but he just wanted to report the news then got caught up in one section!
Maybe it’s part of the reason he decided to leave too bc his image was that of a democrat when again a republicans can do something you admire or you might not agree with either parties on something. Like him

Democracy is still evolving, we are far from a true democracy and perhaps we'll never get there in time. However, the alternative to an evolving democracy would be far worse.

He's describing political tribalism, which is exactly what we have in this country, thanks to two private political parties who have managed to vilify each other out of being human. He's right. The truth is, there is a wide spectrum of opinions and positions on issues and many people don't feel represented by either party. However, they've set up the paradigm and it has stuck. If you take a position on an issue that agrees with party X, then you `must` be party X and therefore think exactly how we decide you do on every issue. That's not reality.
That's why we here in the rest of the democratic world don't understand how you can only have 2 parties in the US and the UK (and probably some other countries), you're missing out on a lot of the diversity instead of having only black and white. Plus yeah, there will be less hate when it's us against this one other group.
@@Strict666 Absolutely agreed. I do understand why though. Because both of those private parties managed to take virtually every elected office from the WH to the lowliest alderman. They set the rules in each state and if you want to see Democrats and Republicans agree on something, suggest changing any of those state laws that benefit them. Without a massive grassroots effort, we're stuck.
There's a fairly simple solution: Ditch the first-past-the-post electoral system in favor of proportional representation and you get several parties. They are forced to form coalitions, which in turn produces compromises WITHIN governments. This would go a long way towards reducing this tribalism. The only caveat: The rules need to require a minimum share of the vote in order to obtain seats in parliament, to avoid this splintering into 20+ political parties.

You misunderstand: It's about agreeing with someone on individual ISSUES, not with that person and his/her opinions as a whole. There are of course people who are totally disagreeable, they are a lost cause. But they are a small minority, not half the population.
