And Here you will be able to follow my classic mini restoration from start to finish! It is an Austin Mini Mayfair 998cc registered in 1986. I bought the car with 2 months MOT and it was running although the slave cylinder had gone. My plans for the car are to restore it to my standards just like my Orange one if not even better... if thats possible. More videos on the way of the classic mini so be sure to subscribe and keep up to date.

Make sure you take the plugs out and crank the engine until you can confirm you have good oil pressure when you get to the turning the key stage, amazing vid as always looking forward to the next one!

You go Boi!!! I just started mine last weekend...but gonna warn ya...the journey just begins when you start it. Tracing down little niggles etc was a pain. Fuel delivery issues are also a pain. Keep us posted.🇬🇧🥃👍

I’m hoping you don’t have the same problem I had with it sitting with no oil in, when I finally got it starred I had no oil pressure, it had to come out and be stripped down and new shell bearings refitted. Got it sorted now. We must all have a meet up when we get these minis finally on the road.
We certainly shall! graham! yeh i hope that doesnt happen haha! the engine has be touched apart from a respray so hopefully should be good :)

Hi mate the car is looking great! I think you have put 2 oil seals on the selector, they are pushed into the casing. you need to remove the old one and push the new one in.

A top tip, I've had the roll pin drop out, and no gears in a line of traffic, so pays to lock wire it so it can't drop out. best to be prepaired....lol

Tom, I can‘t see the spring 100% but it should hook on the carb body so you may have it on the wrong way round! Cheers Dave.
Tom, Sorry great video and nice to see you getting near starting that engine, Make sure you keep the HT lead out till the oil pressure gauge shows pressure or at least the least the orange oil light goes out! Cheers Dave.

Tom first off thanks for these videos they are very helpful and informative. I do want to know though, how do you stay interested in the build. Im mini mad and have recently bought a 1995 cooper mpi, it needs panels etc. But im at a point where i want it finished but lack the motivation! As you were 😎

There are some low lifes, using the reg number FFS. Although its a bit late, remove the reg plates during filming.
Keep up the good work, enjoying the build, your hard work is paying off. This cold weather is keeping mine in the garage, and watching these vids means i aint fixing my mini.

hahah! yes! unfortunately some goons have cloned my car and ive had speeding fines wondering through the door so been abit of a pain! glad youy enjoy the videos mate as i put alot of effort into them!. and as for the software I use ''Final Cut Pro X''

Sam it’s an eBay special mate👌🏻 the stainless manifold for mini spares is like £300 but there is a guy manufacturing them him self for half the price! Really good quality aswell! Thanks bud! And yeh that’s the aim😂👌🏻

Forgot to mention, minispares sell a drift to remove and fit the pin for the gear lever rod
I did used to have one make but couldn't find it haha!
speedo cable: depends where your speedo will be in the dash! 2/3clock? or centre binnacle... and will need to be a certain length too.
kwinser I ordered the same length as the only one, it’s for a 3 clock dash just can’t remember where I took it out 😂😂
Speedo cable - didnt you fit that when the engine went in? or is it not fitted, couldn't tell? Much easier fitting it before you fit the manifolds if the latter, just think, you're filling the space where your arm wants to go.. On older minis there used to be a clip on the bulkhead to hold it in place (usually long gone by now), and where it goes into the car depends on what dash you have, and have you got the right length cable or not. A top tip is to thread some welding wire or similiar through and around that gearchange pin, then it can't go walkies one day when you're out and about.
Richspec yeh it’s already in Dude, just need to feed it through bulkhead, I bought the same length as the old one aswell. The dash I’m putting in is 3 clock dash which is what came with the car. I thought about putting something round the clip but I’m

The spring on the carb. What you have to do is seat one end of the spring into the Groove on the main carb body/bit that doesn't move. You then get the rest of the assembly partly placed over it and you have to coil the spring (twist it) and then hook that into the section that moves and then screw the entire assembly down under tension . If you look at how the springs in the main throttle spindle are secured it's the same way. It's a bloody nightmare to do though took me about 20 minutes of swearing to get it in! Good luck

Great video mate I think there is an s or z shape Metal pipe that runs from the fuel pump to the carburettor which has two rubber hoses that fit to carpet to the pipe to the pump to the pipe.
But could be wrong, thanks for the videos mate nice job! 👍

Great Videos mate, been following for some time now, same as some of the other comments in that I have sadly lacked some enthusiasm on my project (a friend is doing the body work, and has only just recently started actually doing it, having had the car for a year already!) - could and should have been doing more my end on the engine, rear subframe etc. but didn't! Cracking on now though, some way behind you but using some of your videos as point of refernce for me... the layman!

Max Beardon hey max! Don’t worry about motivation. It’s good you only do it when you feel like it, that way your in the best mood to tackle it! I sometimes force myself and get stressed to easily and end up calling my car every swear word you can think of 😂😂 the main reason I started the videos was to motivate myself 😂😂

I didnt do a video on this mate as I go the guy who did the body work to do it, but take plenty of pictures before you remove bits that way you can always look back at them haha! as for the editing mate it takes up most my evenings monday to friday haha!

Stephen Stokes yeh it’s for a sensor mate, the guy that makes he manifold on eBay just makes then universal to fit all minis, I’m going to fit a straight through stainless pipe out the a 3 inch tail side exit 👌🏻👌🏻

My first car was a Mini, However they are no way near as reliable as new cars and mine was forever breaking down. If you know how to repair them then they can be ok. For me ive always loved classic cars but seeing my friends just simply get in their newer cars turn the key and drive away when its frosty was a little disheartening as i was sat there for a good 15 mins defrosting the car haha! To Summerise if you want a car that turns heads, stimulates conversations and in m opinion ''Cool'' Then go for it mate! they are so fun to drive :)
