  • Through the First Person program, Holocaust survivors have the opportunity to share their remarkable personal stories of hope, tragedy, and survival with thousands of visitors at the Museum. This program was recorded on July 26, 2018. It features Joel Nommick, who was born in Macon, France to Jewish parents in 1942. Joel’s father was arrested a year before Joel was born. Following his father’s arrest, Joel’s mother and two brothers were forced to assume false identities. They survived with the help of neighbors, who took great risks to obtain food rations for the family. Joel and his mother and brothers bore witness to the liberation of France. Although his father had been freed from Bergen-Belsen in 1945, he never returned to his family.

So sad about his father, he sound like an amazing man. May he rest in peace where ever he is.

Unreal that a "friend" someone his father helped would betray the family, but then again this was common .
