I find her voice very hard and harsh sounding. Anyway, I watched the movie, and it was thought provoking. Around the same time, I also happened to watch another Bollywood movie called "The Lunchbox," and I really liked that movie. It was quite profound. (Kiran Rao had nothing to do with "The Lunchbox). I highly recommend it.

We do it because ever since the British left out country, the way to work yourself up the ladder was to speak English. Having said that, let me remind you we have 22 languages and many dialects. There's a huge debate in the South where people don't accept Hindi. So we're not ashamed of our language, we just want to do better for ourselves and for our families. Hope that clears it something.

@syas13 Indian parents speak to their children in English because their own mother tongue is very complicated. It becomes difficult for parents to converse at times. I am not saying that English is less complicated but English is a language which is very versatile and can be modified to suit little children. It then becomes a part of your life as you grow older and then people find it difficult to switch back to their native language.
@monuta2008 scripts have nothing to do with the actors.. whether its a remake or not makes no difference. what you have to look at is the actors ability and acting skills. oh and don was very original. plus remakes are harder to attract audience plus the expectations are higher from the film. yet aamir khan has had super hits. from qayamat se qayamat tak till 3 idiots, tare zameen par, ghajini etc.

You're right about that, she's not a model type and he could have gone that route.
