I never seen anyone do that. Do they not have precision machine shops in belgium or germany or europe?
All about budget improvising when you dont own the right tools for the job. Hope they had a spare one to sacrifice... They do a awsome job, i was sceptic at the beginning...
@@orbitalair2103 I've heard of lapping a valve seat, but that was some next level shit!
@@PolskaMos yeah they got some spare valves from an other guy. The valve they used to cut was too rusted. They mentioned this in the "werkplaatsvlog" which sadly does not have subtitles
@@orbitalair2103 it's not even really a machine shop thing I bought a valve seat cutting set of amazon for about 60 quid and you could do it your self but tbh I can't bash them to hard because it did work

Damn, that's amazing! It really blows my mind to think about the frightened young Iraqi soldiers--probably not sure whether to be more afraid of the enemy or their own side--who were the last people to shut that engine down before pouring sand in the tank and making a run for it. I'm sure it never would have crossed their minds that it would be started up again 25 years in the future as a fun project for a group of fun-loving young guys in the Netherlands.

I am impressed with their "go for it" spirit. For example, I wear gloves while washing parts. In the 1970s we did not do such things. We'd wash parts in solvent or gasoline with bare hands.

Prachtig! Ik de afgelopen dagen in de Zweedse bossen het project gevolgd in de werkplaatsvlog en toen er donderdag niks meer kwam was ik vet teleurgesteld. Ik wilde dat ding zien lopen! Dus ik vrijdag (op m’n verjaardag) nog een keer checken, maar helaas... nog niks.
Maar dit maakt het meer dan goed! Gefeliciteerd heren, ik weet hoe het gevoel is wanneer je een motor voor het eerst start 🙂👍

Emile en Dirk echt met open mond zitten kijken naar die motor toen ie eindelijk draaide. Maar ik denk dat jullie beide hard aan vakantie toe zijn want het is nog niet zolang geleden dat jullie ook zo hard aan de zelfbouw tank gewerkt hebben. We kunnen wel 2 weken wachten hoor, maar je hebt maar 1x per jaar zomervakantie dus geniet ervan mannen.
As a Russian I can say I'm glad that at least foreigner civilians have got ability and courage to restore those Soviet beasts=)

@@konstantin88181 they were far ahead of anything back then . A heavy truck with full double wishbone independant suspension? thata awesome. The only problem i have is width being over legal limit so i could never use it on the road enough to justify it . wide load permit to go everywhere gets annoying
@@Nordic_Mechanic well it was designed for off road. And btw you'll need a ton of fuel just to warm it up =)
@@konstantin88181 other offroad transport were within the 2.5m width though. but they arent as mecanically interesting. the lines of those cabs look more sci fi than old

Seeing these guys repairing this machine, I imagine how difficult this work was during the WWII( (and other wars). Dirt, heavy work, etc. Those mechanics were herous.
