    I don't think some people understand that these videos are based on the clientele she receives so when you ask to see more hair types she can't just make that happen because it all depends on who solicits her services she can't just go picking random people off the street because you request it. I loved the video girl you are so talented and that roller set came out beautiful keep doing what you're doing ☺️

    I like the fact that even when your client came back after so long with heat damaged hair you didn't make it an issue. Some people expect their clients to remain loyal to them. If clients dare go elsewhere and come back with their hair in poor condition it is taken personally, they get putdown and clients are lost. People fail to realize attitudes like that are not good for business. You are very professional not just in your craft, but also in your attitude towards your clients as you are still willing to help them. That was very good of you to still show your client that love, and they will keep coming back you because of it.

      This scenario doesn’t apply to half the time . It takes way more work on the stylists behalf to get your hair back to its original state. You just sit there and reap the benefits of your stylist caring for your hair.

    When I was younger my mom would wash, blow dry, run through my hair with a straightening comb then the flat irons every 2 weeks for yearssss. She called it training my hair. I didn’t know anything about natural curls until I didn’t have them anymore. I thought only mixed girls had curly hair. After watching countless CZcams videos about natural hair I decided to part ways with my straight ends after many failed attempts of transitioning and here I am a year later with much healthier curly hair. 😁

      heyyitsnyy I’m 14 and it’s really annoying how my mom always denies that my hair is heat damaged. She took me to a black lady to get it straightened, and the lady told my mom that I should stop getting my hair straightened because of the heat damage. My hair had mild heat damage in it at the time. My mom did not listen to the lady and got my hair straightened multiple times by Dominicans. The fronts and backs of my hair have went to curly to wavy to now straight. Whenever I try to tell my mom that I don’t want my hair straightened anymore because I want to get my hair healthy again, she just yells at me. Since it seems that I have no control over my hair right now, when I’m older I’m not going to straighten it at all and just get it healthy again.

  • @pamellajohnson7782
    @pamellajohnson7782 Před 7 lety +682

    I haven't heard the term "heat training" in a LONG time. And you are correct, they call it "heat damage" now, simply because of loss of curl pattern. It is/was considered healthier to heat train for looser texture rather than using chemicals. When hair becomes brittle, dull, and excessively sheds, that is damaged hair, imo. Great job! Her hair looks luscious!

    • @darceydarcey9502
      @darceydarcey9502 Před 4 lety +7

      She often says her clients come in once a month to get their hair straitened will the hair stay straight the whole time? Also would you be able to get your hair wet in any way without it becoming curly again. I asked you this because be your comment I assume you know a lot about hair.

    • @Elizabethperc
      @Elizabethperc Před 4 lety +9

      Darcey Darcey Getting your hair wet will revert it. Sweat, rain, humidity, any form of liquid will make your hair revert to it’s original texture.

    • @blueismylove3128
      @blueismylove3128 Před 4 lety +1

      I now this was three years ago, but to clarify you are saying it's *not* simply because of loss of pattern that it is heat damage right? I'm seeing you connect "damage" to dull, brittle, and breakage but not necessarily "heat" damage which will also cause these things.

  • @m0nchb378

    No disrespect but this is the same technique my stylist used on my hair as a teen in the 90’s. Every two weeks; wash, deep conditioning, large roller set, dryer (for what felt like forever) wrap, dryer again, then she would run the blow dryer with the comb attachment through my roots to flatten it a little. Make me promise to wrap and not put it in a ponytail. I’d lie & go home to brush it into a high ponytail. This truly brought back so memories might have to go back to this. Thank you

    Glad I ran into this video. I went to stylist for a silk press. Didn’t realize that it involved a keratin treatment. My 3c curls are now more like 2c to 3a and the nape of my hair is straight from what appears to be heat damage. I was depressed because I’ve not put any chemicals in my hair for YEARS and I’ve taken good care of it. Fortunately, my hair is in a short style. My instincts are correct because just like the wonderful stylist on here, I’ve decided to continue deep conditioning and not go for the big chop. I will nurse my hair back to health, let it grow out and then cut off the keratin/heat damaged sections. I was actually doing roller sets, but I want my natural curl pattern so badly, that I’ve decided on zero heat and just going with wash and go’s with lots of scrunching!

    I'm a hair stylist and you have no idea how many stylist can't do fine hair. They use too much heat. Too many passes. My hair has to be round-brushed and one pass only. It's very fine. I have worked in salons with stylists who couldn't do my hair. I love your knowledge and work. You know what healthy hair actually means.

    Beautifully done! Her hair texture is just like mine and that's exactly how I used to get my hair set when it was long. I had it cut down gradually to a cascading bob then a pixie down to a big chop in 2017. I've been rocking and loving my short natural wash n go curls since then!😍

    Hi Deeper Than Hair TV! About a year ago I was watching your videos and said it was impossible to do that to my hair. I have been reviewing the technique and attempted it recently on my hair and wow! I am now a believer. Of course, I didnt even get close to your perfection but I was completely blown away by what I managed. I am totally convinced that my hair could look like your models. I just most certainly need to leave it to a pro! Thank you for your videos. It's opened my eyes to possibilities. Much love from GA

    I'm not a stylist hence the boring look of my hair, but I enjoy watching your videos, on they are descriptive, you don't do the click bait, when your clients come in you can tell they are defeated by their hair, well the ones who have damaged hair, and the patience you take on telling what you're doing, and the smiles from all your clients at the end. I knew thicker hair was a process but had no clue how much of one it was. You keep being gorgeous and helping the many others feel gorgeous too. Prayers to you your family friends and clients.

Spirals by hand, chile please we used the green, yellow or blue goody's with the clip on the regular lol. I loved rolling my hair with the lottabody or diluted blue ultra sheen setting lotion lol. so glad see somebody do an actual roller set that is the preferred way I like my hair to be done and it is so difficult to find beauticians and stylist who actually know how to do a very good roller set I learned how to roller set my own hair when I was ten that was over thirty years ago. it last a long time and all i have to do is put satin rollers in it ever other night to maintain the look. and i can roller set my own hair a lot better than i can flat iron
