  • Here’s a quick video to show you how I fixed a DeLonghi Nespresso Lattissima+ or Lattissima Plus EN520S machine that is air locked, preventing water from running through the machine. This could happen to your machine if you have left it sitting for a long period of time without use.

Thanks for the video, this fixed my machine. For anyone wondering what size tube you need, it's external diameter 18mm, or at least mine was, you can measure it yourself to be sure. I bought 18mm external 14mm internal tube and as I had no plunger, I just used my finger and slowly pushed it into the tube with the machine running until it sucked all the water in. Didn't take long at all, so thanks again for saving my machine and my wallet!

Thank you! I didn't use your solution because I couldn't find a tube. But I recently was gifted one that was NEVER working that was supposed to be RMA'ed in 2013. Nothing was working to fix it. I used a water pump for a hydroponic garden and attached it to one of the internal hoses and ran it a LOT! Works now!

Great tip re: the 10ml syringe! I cut off the end where the tip is, as I couldn't find a tube the size I needed. This fit perfectly also & then I could just plunge through that. I was trying other advice and this worked by far the best! Thanks!

  • @patriciamurino-dogtraining9651

OMG! Thank you very much for the video. This was my last resort and it worked! The tube size I found to fit is 1/2" with a 5cm syringe I ordered online. Coffee anyone (HA).

This process worked like a charm on our Nespresso machine. We had to MacGyver-improvise on the plastic tube idea by using a plastic olive oil pouring spout. Paired with the medicine plunger (we used the plunger intact, not separated) was a charm. My only add is that it does take a lot of water to inject into the machine, so, don't give up! As long as your machine's motor is making it's sounds, the hot water will happen. Lastly, I did cheat a little with some of the water I injected, I added half vinegar, would let it sit for a bit then adding more of that mixture. Our machine had sat in a box for at least 3 years in storage. Thanks for your video!

Thank you for this. I tried a few of the solutions suggested, and was getting nowhere fast! The tube worked for me. 10mm tube, the plunger from a 5 ml syringe and it took 3 tries before I heard a distinct change in the note of the machine, which had sounded like someone dragging iron over concrete! Can't tell you how excited I was. Thanks once again, and I hope this solution works for others.

Thanks for making the video!! I had the same problem with my machine. Found a tube that fits into the hole in the machine and instead of using a syringe, I used my pull out spray hose on my kitchen faucet. It fit into that plastic tube nice and snug. I used the water pressure from my faucet do the work. In less than a minute the machine started spurting out water. I turned the water on and off to create pressure surges so I wouldn't potentially blow out any gaskets or hoses in the machine.

Oh you saved my sanity 😅🙏🏻 I didn’t have the patience to look for all those things, I simply used a big straw, placed on the water hole behind and sucked with my mouth.. voila !!!

Similar solution just fixed mine! Remove the basin and fill the intake hole with water, put some water in the basin, run a cycle whilst pumping the basin up and down to force water through. Works perfect and no messing with tubing/syringes 😊

I have the same machine and had the same problem. Easy solution: put water in the container, let the machine run while moving the water container a few millimeter up and down. This way the air can escape. That’s it, works perfectly and you can find this also on youtube.

I tried several other hacks BUT this was the ONLY one that worked. Got the tubing from my local plumbing store for $0.58. Imhad to heat it up just to mold it a bit but after 3 times, the water final came through. Nespresso only offer 35% off a new machine or $65 service fee to try and fix it. Smh but THANK YOU!

I have an older model of this machine. I put the water container on and off the back multiple times to get the orange plunger to make bubbles. As I did that had the front milk frothier filled with water. I hit the buttons on top multiple times while placing the water container back and forth in the slot. Trying to get water to bubble and maybe back in the machine. I held the CLEAN button down on the milk frother a couple times and it started to push water through the frother and then the machine itself pushed it though the regular spout. It was a miracle. I also had one of those air bubble package buffers pushed into the back water chamber as I was doing all this and not sure if that was necessary. No need for a tube in my case. Just a lot of messing with the water container and frother unit button. Don’t give up and good luck.

Thanks for the video! I ended up using a 3/8 inch air hose section and my air compressor nozzle tip. Turn on the machine gave it a couple squirts of air when tbe pump kicked on. Almost immediately it started pumping water out. Probably should turn the regulator down to 25 psi.

I have a different way of fixing it that i did with mine Yesterday April 30/2024 .Basically the main problem is clogging on this type of coffee machine. So lets start, bellow the machine where the cable comes out theres 2 screws, open then to remove the pipe that takes in water, after its out take a bike pump then install the red plastic ball inflater on the tip of the pump then insert it on the rubber tip that takes in water. Turn on the machine, wait for it to load until the buttons stops blinking then press the top left button to start the machine, when the machine starts pump out the air until you start seeing water coming out of the drain of the machine and that would be it. Unplug your pump ,assemble back and it shouldbe good ready to work again. I hope it works for you. All the best. 👍🏾

I had the same issue but as I didn’t have a tube that fits, I opened the back and checked for movement in the tube after the pump. After about 30 pushes of cappuccino with the water tank connected (yes, dangerous without the back cover) the bubble went and off came the hot water .
So no tubing nor opening needed, just let water in the tank do the pushing (at the expense of the electricity) of the air block.

Couldnt find any tube that fits. What i did was take away the water wank, fill the hole with water, put my finger over n push up and down to create a little suction pressure while running the machine Kept refilling up and did this a few times. After a while, you can hear a different "roar" from the motor and then i quickly put back the water tank and it works like a charm.
