Effortless. One of the great live vocal performances of all time I reckon.
one of the most talented singers ever
this was done live, no auto tune no tech nothing. hes modulating his voice by moving his microphone
Thanks for reacting to this. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much - as many millions of others have over the years. The Righteous Brothers (not really brothers) sang so many great songs as a duo and had a number of big hits. Bobby's solos though, were something so special. You really have to listen to the 1965 release of "Ebb Tide", another solo by Bobby. I'd follow that voice into a burning building!
Oh... wow! I must hear that one...
The man wasn’t even winded at the end. He hit those notes as easy as breathing. Once in a generation talent.
Once in a century in my book. And I'm pushing that century mark LOL.
@@Teresia12 The greatest tenor in pop music history, underarrated, he looks angelic as well. He has violet eyes. Class act. So are you!
I read he hit 24 different notes
Exactly. So effortlessly like it was nothing lol
Best performance of all time
Raw talent, no voice enhancements, autotune, nothing but a beautiful voice. RIP Bobby
Walks out onto the stage cold, no auto tune..no gimmicks..and drops the greatest live performance in music history on everyone.
Peace...
Don't we miss those days? SMH
@@deco9863 Truth Bomb.
Согласен. Ничего искусственного. Так рождается шедевр.
@@alexkor380 Absolutely Akex, a Masterpiece!
At the end, just a shy smile, a courteous bow, then he walks away into the sunset...... God bless Bobby Hatfield.
And, that little lip bite...♥️
He is marvelous ❤️
Those eyes too...
@@Ididnotwanttojoin always one.
Bobby opens his mouth and the sound of angels come forth. Incredible voice. His presence on stage is like he's shy and yet confident. There's no straining no effort he's up there, he opens his mouth, and beautiful music comes out.😳😯🙂 don't want to start an argument or anything IMHO, Bobby's version is unbeatable.
You know before CZcams and internet and social channels, I thought I was the only one who knew about this Gem and the only one taken back by his performance. I'm glad I was wrong about that. This is so good it should be shared with the world.
Unchained melody is the greatest love song ever written. Bobby was 25 years old at the time. He is in the rock and roll hall of fame.
He deserves to be there for sure! What an awesome talent!
@@DrewsClues Of course Bill was too They were inducted in 2003 by Billy Joel, 8 months before Bobby's death on November 5th 2003. He is missed by everyone. At the induction, they did a great "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling. Voices changes of course, but considered to be the finest performance ever on that Hall of Fame show. Drew, if you haven't seen it, look it up on you tube. Silver foxes!
Yeah, you're not lying. I played this song for my girlfriend yesterday after we got home from our date... I never seen her put into a love trance-like the way Unchained Melody did to her... She was absolutely infatuated and in love with the song like I've never seen before. She's 31 and I'm 36
Bobby Hatfield the cat was just BAD for real what a force.
AS HE SHOULD BE MICHAEL
Bobby OWNS this song. It has been covered lots of times, but even Elvis can't come close to this performance.
I agree with you. I love Elvis too and got to see him perform live. i missed out on hearing RB live on stage. But I will look forward to hearing Bobby sing live in heaven.
Huge Elvis fan and his is good, but this is Bobby's song. Noone before and noone after will own it the way he did.
Totally agree. I have heard different covers, but this is the ONE!!!!!!!!!!
I saw Elvis try this song and he couldnt even come close. That is saying something.:)
Elvis never had that kind of range, very few did although Bobby Vinton did a decent rendition.
This song is regarded by many as one of the best love songs of all time. Likewise, Bobby's performance is considered to be one of the best musical performances in all of TV history.
I read this song was played more than any other song.
@@ronicagarcia8698 That was "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling", the most played song of the 20th century, getting over 8 million plays. "Unchained Melody was the only song in history to become a hit twice. Once in 65 and again when it was used in the movie "Ghost." That was 1990, I think. I'll take "Bobby's" song any day, as much as I love "lovin' Feeling. But I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Unchained Melody was right up there with Lovin' Feeling." The greatest, most beautiful love song written, sung by the most talented, beautiful man in the universe.
Because,it IS !!!!
Sure is.
I love that song! He is an awesome singer, with a beautiful voice & a sexy smile! RIP
Didn't need fireworks on stage, light shows, dancers, pyrotechnics, etc. Just raw talent and real achievement of the human soul.
truth.
He’s mopping the floor with everyone else who tried this song in this performance. Killed it. 😳😢🙏👍
Love your reaction! ❤ from a 72-year old who has loved this live performance since October 25, 1965, when it aired on TV. Only now, so many years later, thanks to CZcams, can we experience it again (and again and again).
One of the finest male voices in modern music. Thanks for your reaction.
Bobby Hatfield's parents were in the audience for the first time and he was petrified. Wouldn't have thought so though.
That lip bite at the end was 100% because his parents were watching.
I was 15 when this came out. It was played at all our high school dances...usually the final number. Loved it then & love it now.❤
Bobby generally had profound stage fright. He'd throw up before pretty much every show then walk out on stage with Bill Medley and just kill it.
@@quentinmichel7581 wow I had no idea. Well he sure was a pro at pretending to be completely at ease on stage. Like our reactor says he's so mellow
@@Daz555Daz that lip bite said "I nailed it!" I miss him so much. But he left a legacy of beautiful music, and his amazing voice to be enjoyed until the end of time.
Performers of this era carried themselves with class, something mostly lacking in music today.
Blue eyed soul music at it's best. The last moment where he bites his lower lip is his humble way of saying he nailed it!
Also, his Mom was in the audience and he had tried his best for her.
Thats the part i wait for..love
Kinda like an angel fell to earth wearing a pink suit and you're thinking - " Okay, this is gonna get stoopid " and instead you get transported by that VOICE! My gawd...that voice!
"Wait for me wait for me, I'll be coming home wait for me..." These words took on a special meaning since this was during the Vietnam War.
Thank you for the beautiful reaction😊
It was based on a guy in prison writing to his girl. Not sure what the book or movie was but I did know at one time. Isnt old age great?lol
@@robertarnold7187 Yes it was written earlier but it took on a special meaning during the war is what he's saying.
@@joanmayfield4791 That is a good point. Hadn't thought of that but that is the beauty of music as we all get out own special meanings from the lyrics and melodies. :)
I love how he ends it with a look on his face like “this wasn’t even hard”. 😂😅
His mother was in the audience- that last smile was knowing he had hit the note for her....
Thank you for that tidbit. Enjoyed learning that.
The look on your face as you fall in love with this song. Every woman is in love with this song, dreaming of a man who actually feels that way towards me. ♡ Greatest love song ever written, bar none.
It is amazing, I have found in listening to other songs they have done that every song is just as emotionally charged. so honest, they convince you they are talking to ONLY you! It is amazing!
You know it....e love listening back in the mid 60's.
@@DrewsClues Yes! "Baby, I can't make it without you....." Bobby's speaking voice was as beautiful as his singing voice.
Well now, I'm so happy to see that we can all finally agree that Bobby Hatfield was one of the defining voices of the 20th century! Good job all! Boy did he have a voice though!
A marvelous voice. ❤️
His eyes, his smile .... I'm dead. I never tire of listening to this.
I agree. He was beautiful and sang beautifully. I love his salmon-colored suit!!!
Nobody could ever match him it's impossibe
Not only was his mother in the audience, but he also had a cold and was very nervous about pulling it off. He was incredible and he was just as amazing in everything he did. Not only a heavenly voice, but a beautiful man as well, inside and out. Way too hard for me to pick my favorite from all the solos he did, they were all amazing!
This one, hands down!❤
Many ladies feel that Bobby is reaching out to them pouring out his soul to them ...Bobby Hatfield's voice back then and now still is pulling the heart strings of the ladies with his voice that was so buttery, smooth , velvety that it will linger for ever in that ladies of the past, present and future ,have, are and will fall in love with," UNCHAINED MELODY"....
He is enchanting...I am just blown away by how mellow he is.
Oh yes, I have been in love with them for almost 58 years. Now an old lady of 78, they make me feel like I'm 21 again. And Bobby.. ..he is enchanting. We miss him so much.
@@dawnaberry8452 I grew up in the 60's listening to this STYLE of music...a babyboomer from the 50's.
As a lady who swoons over this performance every single time, I agree with your assessment.
@@hirameberhardt8643 It was the best, and Bobby and Bill were the best of the best.
Bobby Hatfield complained of a mild cold before this performance but he was petrified because his parents were in the audience. And just like that he produced what is considered one of the most fantastic pieces of TV entertainment ever - and at the age of 25. No electronic tricks, no auto-tune - just plain raw talent. No bitches - no profanities - just a beautiful love song sung beautifully.
Back when men sang about women with respect
That's our Bobby! All he had to do was stand on that stage with that little mic in his hand, Bobby and that song. A whole nation of women fell in love that night in 1965. I was one of them. And I still am. Not bad for a 25-year-old kid, eh? They always put all of their emotions, heart and soul into their performances. It was genuine. Bobby was very special, a Counter-Tenor who could go 3 to 4octaves, and hit notes that a lot of Sopranos could not. And he made it look effortless. Those high notes were not falsetto. He was a natural high-register Tenor. He left us in 2003,and we miss him. But he left a legacy of beautiful music and an incomparable voice. Bill will be here in Phoenix in November, and I will go see him. Still got it at 80years young.
The Righteous Brothers weren't a group, they were a duo. This was sung live on a tv show by one of the two, Bobby Hatfield. You should also react to their song "You've lost that loving feeling" which features both of them.
They also weren't brothers.
Thank a for sharing and thanks for the suggestion.
@@DrewsClues Agreed. You definitely have to check out "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield's voices together are pure magic!
Agreed!
always nice to see people react to great singers who had real voices... no auto-tunes, singing live into a fisher price microphone... And that was live in front of his parents... You can see the emotions at the end... Priceless
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Word!😄
I believe it was just his mom there, he only introduced her.
I agree, that was back when you had better have a good voice. No auto tune!
Honestly, I imagine that's how every woman feels when Bobby sings.
Don't get too carried away.
This is the music I grew up hearing (my cousins were older than me; I was 6 years old when this was done) and this was shot live with a full orchestra on national television. No retakes, no Autotune, no adjustments, just pure, raw talent and some serious musical training.
THIS was 20+years BEFORE-'Auto-Tune', if I'm not mistaken.
It was my Dad, who would listen to the records in his collection
I was also 6 years old in 1965. I grew up on the Righteous Brothers, The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Gladys Knight, Otis Redding, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Carpenters, The Supremes, The Temptations, and on and on. We had the best music ever, hands down and amen!!
@@Sharon-pb7so ...Buddy Holly, Beach Boys ...
Bobby and Bill had no formal training.
What a pleasure it was to see your reaction. You are so fun. 💕
🥰
His face was so relaxed. No veins popping out of his face/head, no straining, no squinting of his beautiful face. Gorgeous song. I love it. And he was smiling while singing! How?!?!
This is my absolute favorite performance ever. It's live, no auto tune, one take, ONE, amazing 👍👍👍
Hands down the greatest live performance of all time. There are no words.
You swooned right off. I loved your appreciation for his sliding soulful technique.
I love watching modern woman's reaction to this song... Not very many songs can turn women into a deep love trance, completely infatuated by a song. Unchained Melody does exactly that.
That sure is the truth.
I’ve been listening to this song for over fifty years and I still get goosebumps and tears.
You need my love. Bobby you got it forever. He wasn't relaxed. He (as I've heard) had a cold, and his parents were in the audience and he was afraid he would "mess up." I listen to this almost every day and want to cry because I'm old and he is gone from us. RIP Bobby. He also was known to have extreme stage fright. Can we tell, NO! Now that is professionalism.
He nailed it. Beautiful.
Imagine what he could do on a GOOD Night.....................
I feel the same way. I am also old, but i never get tired of hearing Bobby's beautiful voice. I also think he was very handsome. When I heard about his untimely death in that Michigan hotel (Kalamazoo, I think), where he died alone in his room shortly before he and Bill were about to perform, I felt so sad.
Just his Mom.
Nobody today sings like Bobby Hatfield he was one of the greats
Every time I see women listen to this they start fanning themselves. It’s amazing what a voice can do.
Live. One take. No Autotune. Ancient mics. Parents in the audience.
There have been over 690 versions of this song recorded and in my opinion no one can even compare with this song by Bobby Hatfield!!!! Thank you for honoring this versioon !!!!!!
Fact: This song has moved more people then Delta, United and American put together!!! Thank you for sharing.
😂😂well stated!
This is one of the prettiest songs in the world!!!
I've spent the entire afternoon watching reactions to this song on different You Tube channels. You'd think I'd be tired of it after 28 repetitions. Nope. Still gives me goosebumps. This has to be the most perfect rendition of a song ever.
Hey, I have been chain watching the reaction videos to this song, too!! There are so many of them. Word got around about this astounding performance and more and more people wanted to experience it!!! Bobby's vocal was perfect. I have loved the Rightrous Brothers ever since first hearing them in the 1960's, and have many of their records.
I've done the same thing & all reactions are almost identical. ❤
Booby, in this live performance, hit 24 different notes in this song. He hit SIX different octave levels when he did this amazing live performance on the Andy Williams show. I remember watching it as a kid and was flabbergasted at his astonishing vocal ability. THIS is 1 of the greatest vocal male performances you will ever hear
It made me cry just to see your reaction to this song because the music that we loved will never be forgotten. This song was playing the day that I boarded that plane that took me to Vietnam. This music helped me tolerate the hell. God bless you and may he keep you safe.
Makes me cry to read this. Vietnam was horrible for our American Soldiers...many still suffer from that trauma..thank you for what you did for our country and for helping to secure our many freedoms 🇺🇸
Thank you so much for your service and your many sacrifices. 🥰
It’s such effortless singing. One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
It’s hard to not tear up with a song so beautiful
I know right!
After all these years, this song still gets me every time. Every time. My heart explodes, and tears flow. Your reaction? Yep. That's it.
That's gotta be one of the best live performances ever. Flawless! Bobby Hatfield was amazing.
Every woman would love him to sing this to her ❤️❤️❤️
Someone sing that to me!! 😭😭😭
I think what I'd have liked back then was my fella to sing that to me, like he meant it. It's like Bobby is just showing raw emotion to us all, and what love should be like. I can't believe it was so long ago, it's so fresh. That voice is like having honey poured all over you ... and I'm an old lady now, but I still remember that feeling *sigh*
Love your reaction - singers in those days could actually sing. No tricks, no computers, just RAW talent.
This song melts women. Even 25 years later when the movie GHOST used it and it became a massive number 1 hit all over again.
😃 her amazing reaction was wonderful!😃🤣😄😂😊😎
always brings tears to my78year old eyes
No one since, and no one today can match the incredible "Live" performance by "Bobby Hatfield" of the 'Righteous Brothers.' This performance done back [56] years ago in 1965. Of one of the greatest songs ever written "Unchained Melody" by Alex North and Hy Zaret. Will never be replicated by anyone again...This performance will live on long after our passing. That is how great and how memorable it was. Great reaction.
Well done Mr 54....you nailed it
@@chuckgould7949 Thank you for your kind reply. Stay safe...
Timeless. i look forward to hearing his voice in heaven. amen
I am now 69 Years Old. And this song will be played for Time Immemorial.
No auto tune needed .... Just GOD given talent
Bobby singing that song melted all the girls hearts back in my day. And, together with Bill, that due is and will always be untouchable.
Younger people don't realize that this was music back in the 60's....and it's not that bad.
That was on tv about a month before my wife and I got married in 1965 !! We danced to that song at our reception !!
Awww, that is so romantic ❤️❤️❤️
Carol and I danced to this song again last July at or 55th anniversary ! We still own the same vinyl album we bought together for $2.99 in 1965 , along with a couple hundred others . Our am/fm radio , cassette tape , and record changer , we bought at a yard sale about 25 yrs ago . she s still beautiful !!
❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful reaction! Thank you for crying. Shows empathy.
Oh my goodness, I LOVE YOUR REACTION!!! So heartfelt and REAL! I love seeing young people discover the music I grew up on! All talent, no lip singing or machines changing their voices...pure talent!!
Yes, it is beautiful!
A beautiful man singing a beautiful song!
One of the most moving songs ever written, sung by the only man who could do it justice. Gives me shivers and goosebumps every time. Thanks for reviewing Bobby Hatfield’s masterpiece.
Good to see her reaction to this epic performance. Probably the best live performance ever done and this was live, not in a sound studio, not edited. For those of us who weren't alive in 65 were so lucky this was recorded for us to see.
When I hear this song now and remembering the 1960's and watching the reactions of women hearing it for the first time it brings a tear to my eye missing those days that are so far away and long gone like my youth.
Usually I say how great the RB's were with no Auto-Tune etc, but your reaction was just as perfect as their music. So charming 💛
Pink suit and all. Classy dress. I love watching your reaction. I listened to them way back then. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Of the Gods, my dear. This is the music which causes the waters to flow. Lovely reaction.

I love yr reaction Mommy Drew . This how I have always felt listening to this song and that one in a lifetime voice ..♥ ♥ ♥
I’m 69 years old, my friend and I am so glad that you younger people up today are rediscovering the music of my days. So emotional so beautiful so tender it was just wonderful and I’m so glad that y’all are listening to this and feeling the motions that I felt over 40 years ago, it’s beautiful.
Wonderful sincere reaction. I have to remind myself how fortunate I was to grow up in an era with this kind of music and this was one of the greatest performances of all time by Bobby Hatfield.
I was in the fifth grade when he performed this song. i loved the 60s. I have enjoyed this song all these years and will continue to. I missed seeing the RB sing on stage. Shortly after Bobby passed away. I really wanted to see them live. i will see him singing live in heaven.
@@ronicagarcia8698 can you imagine how Sweet Heaven's going to be? I'll gladly be the gate polisher if it's by the Choir Section!!
A masterpiece was created on this day.
Dear Beautiful Lady, Mr. Bobby Hatfield in his wife's Bio (Linda) and their children he was totally devoted to them. He passed in the year 2003 and she later. May they rest in peace. We will never forget his voice or his number or great looks!
I was alive back then and man can he sing no Auto Tune back in these day's what you hear is him and him alone. Awesome job
Ohhh LOVE your reactions and words. I'm so glad you are learning about The Righteous Brothers. In 1965 I was 17. We had dances at our friends homes or garages we took terms. One party was a Righteous Brothers party. It was so wonderful. You must listen to more of them. I'm 73 now and still touches my heart
Great to meet you? Did you ever attended one of their concerts? It was probably amazing!
Wonderful reaction! I've been obsessed with this song for 35 years and it still makes me swoon, melt, cry, and get chills. Every. Single. Time. And this man had a dang head cold for this performance lol.
That same feeling was felt by millions of women all over the world. Bobby was an amazing talent.
He had so much left in the tank. I really would like to know what his voice was truly capable of!
The performance of this beautiful song was flawless. The smooth voice he has made me cry. He is so charming and lovable. If you asked me, he even sounds better then Elvis. You really get into it girl. I enjoy watching your reaction. You are truly great and show your feelings openly and honestly. You are a very likeable young women.
That was one of the few songs from back then I still listen to because I am a true metalhead and rock and roll person
The ‘brothers’ started out as rockers … you might enjoy their early stuff. Try ‘Justine!’ ‘Little Latin Lupe Lu’ or ‘Koko Jo’
And My Babe.
Absolutely FABULOUS reaction! As you said at the end, you were melting - you beat me to the punch!
HELLO DREW, CAN YOU BELIEVE A PERFORMANCE LIKE THIS FROM BOBBY HATFIELD BACK IN 1965. A MAN WITH A GOD GIVEN VOICE - HE SANG LIKE AN ANGEL - AMEN.
BOBBY SUNG THIS SONG SOFTLY, SWEETLY, SMOOTHLY, SENSUALLY AND WITH SOUL GRIPPING PASSION THAT WAS SO PURE, CLEAN, ELEGANT AND POWERFULLY B E A U T I F U L
THIS SONG VERSION WAS IN THE FAMOUS FILM "GHOST" STARRING PATRICK SWAZYE AND DEMI MOORE. THIS SONG AND THAT FILM WERE A PERFECT MATCH
I HAVE HEARD MANY VERSIONS OF THIS SONG (incl Elvis & Neil Diamond), BUT BOBBY SUNG IT THE BEST - PERIOD. HE TRULY OWNS THIS PARTICULAR SONG
I HAVE SEEN MANY GIRL REACTORS AND MOST WERE SO EMOTIONAL OR TEARY OR SPEECHLESS OR OVERWHELMED. SO MANY WERE CAPTIVATED BY BOBBY & HIS PERFORMANCE
TAKE CARE DREW, AND GREAT NATURAL REACTION FROM EMILIO IN ADELAIDE CITY IN AUSTRALIA > GREAT SOUTHLAND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
One of the greatest performances ever.
One voice, not computer, one take, live..... A Once in a lifetime performanc, There may never be a better live performance of any song. THIS is blue eyed SOUL
I agree. Timeless. for eternity in heaven.
The song was already 10 years old by the time Bobby got a hold of it, but it is his performance of it, THIS performance, that became the definitive version. It's been covered a lot, but after this, nearly every time you hear this song it's either Bobby singing, or someone singing it the way Bobby sung it. No one has done it better.
He makes you feel like he is singing directly to you.
We didn't watch very much TV. We just heard this on a record or on the radio and fell deeper in love with the guy we already loved......this week. We were just going to our first boy girl dances in junior high when this came out. This was a slow dance. The teachers made the rounds separating everyone that got too close.
Yes, yes...it like there is no one else there just you...how in the world does he do that? You believe him too...it’s crazy!
🤗
Live on stage, Andy Williams show, parents in the audience, no auto tune just pure talent.
One of a kind. The arrangement really complements his performance.
If all men could sing like this what a wonderful world it would be! Great reaction!😍
I agree❤️.
20 octaves live, impressive performance period.
20 notes. 3 to 4 octaves. Amazing. But those notes were not falsetto. He was a 'counter-Tenor, with a natural high register. That final note was a G5 , and some think higher. If you really listen, you can hear the difference between the natural and the falsetto.
The best rendition of this song. Bobby Hatfield live without autotune and all those gadgets that singers take today! Unbelievable !
I had seen at least 30 reactions to this song and you gave the most spectacular, interesting, genuine, sincere reactions! Your reactions are as good as the music video to watch.
That reaction was touching--Your reaction is how most who hear this performance react. Bobby Hatfield sang this song to utter perfection--NO ONE CAN EVEN BEGIN TO MATCH HIM !! When the Lord made him, He threw out the mold so You will never hear his like for years or maybe never !! I was 21 and just married when the Andy William show featured this live performance--at 77, he still gives me chills and especially at the grand finale with the fantastic falsetto voice !! Bobby has many magnificent solo songs--all on You Tube. Love songs like "Only You", "Somewhere", "Ebb Tide", just a small sample with rock, doo-wop and wonderful inspirational ones like "I Believe", He, and one done with his partner, Bill Medley which is "You'll Never Walk Alone". I believe you will be hooked for life !! Thanks, Cathy--hope to see reactions to some of these.
While weren't the first nor only group to sing this song they do give the best rendition of it.
HEAVEN - angelic singing by a true vocal genius - Bobby Hatfield. Thank you for your sincere reverence and joyful appreciation!
Every prom had this song in our day. No auto tune. We had singers who could stay on pitch consistently and really knew their craft. Entertainment without bells and whistles. We were lucky 60’s and 70’s music. 💕🐝💕
One of the greatest songs ever! I was in high school when this came out! I still get chills even today!❤
No autotune, a mic and speaker, a panty dropper guarantee.
Drew, your response was perfect! I was 23 years old when Bobby sang this live. His performance was perfect and I swear every woman in America fell in love with him that night. He was also simply gorgeous! 🥰
And us 15 year olds too.❤
Loved your reaction to some blue eyed soul from 1964! Pure raw talent!
