Kirikane | Japan’s traditional techniques of Kyoto State Guest House | Cabinet Office

Kyoto State Guest House will start a new project to celebrate that UNESCO added Japan’s traditional wooden architectural techniques to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
In this series, students introduce the traditional techniques and its charm used in Kyoto State Guest House.
The first theme is “Kirikane” (decorative technique using gold leaf), Students are from Kyoto Women’s University.
Kyoto State Guest House open to the public throughout the year.
“Kirikane” featured in the video is in “Fuji-no-ma” and “Kiri-no-ma.”
