@@Frost59start your workout with your left arm and find what a comfortable weight is to reach failure, then use that same weight on the other arm for the same amount of reps as you did with your left - eventually they'll pretty much equalize
Dude I started doing that holding technique recently cause I noticed it definitely worked the Bicep better but I stopped doing it because I didn't know if it was legit good or not. But, now because of you I know I was on the right track! Thanks man!
Jim you are without a doubt the best ,you have unreal knowledge your the best im 61 follow you and swear by your protein its all i will buy .thanks so much
OMG your a genius, you've saved my left wrist! I had it operated on and its always held me back. This is such an a amazing tip, ive subscribed! The surgeons put a titanium pin in my wrist and its too long, so my left wrist is bent at a 45 degree all the time lol.
I haven't done preacher curls since they always seem to tax the front of my shoulders more than they do the biceps...even though I feel it quite a bit in the lower part of the biceps. Anyway, I do 'em again this coming Wednesday but I'll use dumbbells instead of barbells. Thanks!
I searched for this video cause I arrived at this on my own and wanted to know if it was good. The thing I noticed is that it's better for the shoulder too, I'm having some shoulder pain and looking at anything to help out, changing the grip like this makes me pain free for curls.
If you hold the dumbell lower in your palm and hence closer to your elbow you're getting more leverage and working the muscle LESS. This is basic high school physics.
I had an argument yesterday with someone, he was bragging how he could do preacher curl with 22kg, when I saw his form I cringed hard, he was stopping about 120 to 130°, I tried to explain him he would benefits from full ROM, and he started being pissed telling me that he knows what he's doing and such arguing going further below he would risk biceps tear. I really tried to be as diplomatic as possible to not hurt his ego. I tried, in vain, explaining him he wouldn't risk anything with an appropriate weight that he could control, and that he would make more gains with less weight and a proper form (optimal SFR) but he shook it off. I guess that's why he has small arms, ego issues.
I have this problem where I can't exceed more than 35 lbs with my left arm. What I do is 10 curls at 30 pounds, wait 60 seconds, do 8 curls at 35 lbs easily enough, but when I try to do 6 curls at 40 lbs I never can. I'm lucky if I can do 3 curls with 40 lbs. no matter what I do I can't manage more than 35lbs with my left arm.
Yeah....no...you can't train the "lower" part of the bicep. It's attached where it's attached. There are two attachments and when the bicep is contracted it pulls on both attachments. There is no "lower bicep" attachment. What the hell?!? You can train one head slightly more than the other but that's about it.
Different parts of the muscle are more activated than others at different points in the contraction. When the arm is fully extended, the "lower" part of the bicep is used more to pull up the weight than at the end of the contraction. There are millions of fibers in each muscle, they don't all get activated equally.
i wish Jim would have told you why you are wrong. i'm not the expert, but I would guess the position of the arms in the preacher allow you to work the fibers in the lower biceps more than traditional curls allow you to, therefore building the lower biceps more.
You guys...how can you possibly believe this bullshit?!? There is no goddamn lower bicep unless you're indicating anatomical positioning, in which case you would say the distal end of the bicep. His claim regarding weaving sarcomeres is complete nonsense. They still have to anchor to surrounding sarcomeres proximal to the location we are all referring to. yes, when a motor neuron fires an action potential it will signal the muscle fibers that it intervates at varying degrees depending on the amount of force required to move an object...BUT IT RUNS THE LENGTH OF THE BICEP!!! Not just one tiny portion at the "lower end". You can say there's a lateral a medial head if that suits you. Jim is a smart smart man...but this is the dumbest shit he has ever uploaded.
+Stephen Stottlemyer magazine information is bullshit. He's right. You can slightly work the long head of your bicep more by doing more shoulder flexion, but you can't train the lower part of the bicep. It works at both the attachment and insertion point.
Hey Jim do you check your DM on Instagram? it would mean a lot! I srsly need HELP! Maxiety is my username with a picture SOS as my DM message Thanks you are awesome 💪🏼
Well, you and I must be just a couple of uneducated asshats that don't lift. That's the common comeback I hear whenever I disagree. OR that we're just trolling.
I bet he did these video tutorial with his other hand too, to avoid muscle imbalance
Nah not necessarily if that is just his warming up weight
Bro, how do you fix that?? Like,
My right arm- Great, fantastic
My left, :/ lacking a little but.
How do I fix that?
@@Frost59 it's always going to be a little stronger. You can work out the weaker arm more or stop working out the stronger one as hard.

Better when u explain it like this

I love this series - And it is much better when you explain it orally ( instead of fast disappearing text)
Thank you too much sir..for guiding us..may god bless you sir
I cannot believe how much this just changed my life.
Well defined biceps. Great video
I think my problem has been not extending all the way down. will try lighter weights and more reps until I can go bigger. Thanx for the video.
Great video Dr. Jim...can you one day do a full arm workout? All videos have been extremely helpful in my current development.
Great tip!

Dan Tesner Back in the day Jim was known as The Barbreak kid

Hi Jim...love your vid uploads... really appreciated......whats your opion and thoughts on using the flat side of the preacher... for curls???
Great tip Doc. Same hand position for the bar when using a barbell or EZ curl bar too?

Love how BBs find a million words to explain 1 simple ass thing
Be very careful I see a lot of biceps torn on the preacher
Ive always found this to be just a cosmetic lift.
have you taken HGH?
Yeah.....waiting for him to tear his bicep.....preacher curls like that are so bad for you.
Is it not rather the brachioradialis that you're feeling - and that's helping the biceps?

A buff nerd
Never stretch it fully all the way down cause that can cause injury it can push your bicep upwards
Retarded analogy
People tear their biceps when they use too much weight and don't control the negative
Don't do those things and you'll be fine
his tattoos looks like clothes and his bicep veins look like folds on the "clothes"
ur tats jus ruin ur muscles lmao

It's impossible to train a special side of a muscle..!

nobody does prechear curl with a dumbell. use a bar
Uhhhh yeah they do
I prefer an extra bar curl but many priests use Dumbbells for preacher curls
