Ncat put on a show. But Nsu put a clinic.
Ncat played. But with Nsu i had to pull out some paper and a pen to take notes. Nsu ALL day.

Both lines did what they do best. There really no surprises. Ncat excellent showmanship and funkiness. Their beats have a decidedly African flavor which is very cool. I think they could explore that area further. One stick drop. NSU played a more difficult rudimental book, changing up the pulse with a swing section, with some nice interplay between instrumental groups. Ncat wins the showmanship award. But I think NSU took this one overall on execution and difficulty. Great jobs by both lines.
Best two hbcu drum lines in America
The best way for me to describe this rivalry is, If someone asks me to show them the perfect drumline i would simply just show them cold steel. Then they'd say, show me someone who can beat them, there's got to be somone better. I'd show them MDFS.
Both lines were good but cold steel took the show while million dollar took it for chops
Correct when doing a show of this scale you have to bring chops and entertainment this isn’t DCI

y’all need to understand. Cold Steel is a straight up show line. MDFS on the other hand, if they really really wanted and just went straight DCI, they can hang with straight Corps style. MDFS bass splits already sold me.
This video is much better for both lines. We can see what MDFS was really doing out there. Great job.

Not only the drumming they also have to remember and perform the routines while drumming at high level. Very physical and impressive by both lines !
MDFS sounds like one drummer. Cymbals, cowbell and the tuning of the drums.
A&T entertaining and clean for the most part. MDF$ took this W tho, the material and execution is unmatched

Not saying CS don’t have beats but this video shows what they prioritize most
And vice versa for MD they are entertaining as well but focus more on their sound rather then visuals and dancing.

Well, all I have to say is MDFS was cleaner then Cold Steel but, they both put on a good show, being a former drummer myself.

I enjoyed both lines. However, one of these lines played newer material, and updated cadences.
Very close one! To close to call, but I think MDFS was more clean. They still didn’t get the out right victory though. Good show by both!

This goes to MDFS. Their set told a story, there was a legitimate beginning, middle and end. MD rocked out w/ rudiments while CS just tried to rock out. CS set appeared to be a bunch of cadences they just put together. CS snares used too much of the rim ride which to me states your rudiments are lacking. MDFS with the W. Not even close.

Talking about ramming notes! Goodness MDFS! Who y’all mad at?!? 😂 some murky parts but a lot of the inside work was phenomenal especially in the tenor line. Cold steel did their thing! I’m excited for the future of HBCU drum lines!

I've always had imposter syndrome about state colleges, football, and band, but-
I don't know what other kind of music feels more deeply engrained in our species to me. Something about this feels like the last 100 thousand years. Feels like how my heart wants to beat. It feels like human ambition cracking the dams of fate.

Bro you not the authority on what people can give a W to and not. Everything is relative to individual taste. The purpose is literally to entertain, if that wasn't the case they would just block up. People pay money to get entertained. Personally i prefer a mix of entertainment and technicality and no line encompasses both as well as CS. Comparing MD and CS has always been apples and oranges, i will say they both are great at what they do

If they wanted it badder then they should have played newer material and not stuff they played against them in the past. Everything that MD played was brand new.

I always watch these 2 Lines… tbh I’ve seen MDFS much cleaner than this. They usually tear Cold Steel to pieces. But in this competition CS impressed Me with the length of performance and precision chopping! If You know CS You know They pulled some extra out the bag on this one… I actually Appreciate the extra work They put in. I’ve got to Give Cold Steel the “W” in this versus. They don’t beat MDFS often but took this one.
With all do respect, nothing extra was pulled out during this performance. Several cadences were played in the stands the day before. If you play close attention, the SL is actually calling transitions/cadences right in the middle of the performance.

I’m from Greensboro area grew up there , A&T has always been more of a Show band while Norfolk has always focused more on precision both are great bands
