I cried seeing Ephemer, then screames after realizing I was reading the names of the 'fallen' keyblade wielders. Instead of shouting, 'They're helping Sora!', it came out as ' We're helping Sora! We're literally helping Sora!'

that wasn't just _ephemer_ saving his life... that was us. all of us. sure, not every khux player got their name in there (obviously) but we were all there. we were all helping out. honestly this is the best moment in the kingdom hearts franchise in my opinion.

Exactly right. There was a competition in Union χ where the top 300 players would get their names in KH3, so those are the names you see here, but you're right about all of us being there. I'd be lying if I said I don't tear up watching this, knowing what this scene represents. It gets better now that the Keyblade War is currently taking place in Union χ, now at Part 3, so we will soon see how the war ends, and how this Keyblade Graveyard came to be.

The first of many times I cried in the Keyblade Graveyard. This was completely unexpected and amazing.

One of the best moments of the game. And I'm so sad that some people reacting to this scene had no idea who this was. I bet the foretellers and the Dandelions will play a huge part in the games to come, or the DLC's to come. If they decide to make another main title, they better not stay in production for 13 years.
That's because KHUx felt like a true side game with no connection, with a story that's going on forever! I hardly played it because it just felt like a fun little Kingdom Hearts-esque game without knowing it (apparently) contained important plot stuff to the series. I gave up on it because it felt like just a lot of grinding and it didn't make all that much sense (why are we visiting the disney worlds? are all the characters ancient by the time kh1 happens? why is donald, goofy and mickey there?) and all those things made it feel like it wasn't cannon.
Then by the time 2.8 happens, they release Back Cover, which I just took to mean, here's all the important stuff that actually DID happen in the mobile game and was just satisfied with that (to a degree, anyway).
Then THIS scene happens. I know Ephemer from like ONE scene in Back Cover. And then I'm like... "wtf is going on? is he a ghost? is he ancient? why was Ephmer, a guy from one scene in Back Cover shoehorned into this?"
I ended up just assuming it was just one of those unexplained plot points like how they just yada yada'd over Xion coming back suddenly with very little explanation except that they started the replica program again and.... that was it!
I take it Ephemer plays a bigger part in the mobile game, but considering how many "episodes" there are now, I just don't feel like going through all that so will probably watch the scenes online or read a wiki page, but I think making KHUx THIS important needed to be made clearer as this now leads to Continuity Lockout for a lot of people! If it's just a shout out to those who played the mobile game but ISN'T important then.... it's still confusing and kind of random. At the VERY least they needed to show more of Ephemer in Back Cover or explain about him more in the "previously on" section that's in KH3... Hell, even if someone new to the series got the Story So Far collection, they STILL wouldn't understand this part!
I am 100% sure we are heading into the foreteller's and dandelions direction because of the epilogue.
@@seanstewart2001 I hope I can help you a little with your questions, first of all my english writing isn't my strength so sorry if for my spelling and redaction I will try my best. The true is that all side games of KH saga are important to understand a little the plot (and even with that sometime there are more questions than answer), I learned that with KHRecoded. I started playing KHUx and I find it very funny and I love that I have my own character. But yes KHUx is important to the plot because you can know the past of some on the characters (Example: Ventus, Marluxia, Larxene, Laxu/Xigbar). The reason you can go to the differents disney worlds is because the five foretellers knowing that in a near future there will be a war (the famous keyblade war) trying to save the light of the world create the projection of the worlds in the future, so they can train keyblades wielders and collect lux, so the worlds you visit are just a projection of the futures worlds (thats something that your Chirity explains you) and not the real real world. Ephemer is important, because he is one of the chosen one to form part of a group called Dandelions, that its a group who will not participate in the keyblade war (and it will be a mark of the end and begin of a new world) but be one of the survivors and thus mantaind the existence of the keyblade wielders. Ephemer with other four people (Skuld and Ventus are there) are the chosen ones to be the succesors of the five foretellers. Thats all I can tell you, because I still playing the game and still don´t know all the story, but I hope I help you understan a little about the game and this scene in KH III

Back cover wasn't really meant to be a substitue for KHUX, it was meant to tell a different side of the same story from the Foreteller's perspective. However, it skips over A LOT of content. (Also I can totally understand why you quit playing, you don't actually meet Ephemer until quest 345-ish? So yea, I definitely reccommend checking out the cutscenes online.)
As for why Donald n Goofy/Disney worlds are in the story, they explain that the Disney worlds/Disney characters you visit/meet in the game aren't actually real. They're a projections of future worlds created by the Book of Prophecies. The heartless are projections as well, and they're used so that the Players can obtain lux.
As for why Ephemer didn't play a bigger role in the Back Cover movie, that is because like I stated earlier it was meant to tell the Foreteller's side of the story, and the movie only covered what happened up until the keyblade war. Ephemer only starts to play a much bigger role after the war takes place, as the new head of the Union Leaders. In fact, most of the things we now know about Ephemer and his role were only revealed after this movie was released. KHUX updates monthly, so I definitely recommend checking into new story updates online every now and again if you're really interested. (You might even find a few familiar faces in the series).

Now that we know who Xehanort was, these scenes are like the climax of "Player's" story.
1 Year later and they baited us all big time lol, xehanort isn't the player, the player is the one that raised xehanort.
Honestly.. since we know that the Player was reborn and died this time on Destiny Islands.. I am leaning more and more towards Sora being their next life.
Which makes this scene even better!
I mean.. Ephemer didn't die that day at the keyblade graveyard.
But he was there, in a blinding light, to save the Player. That would explain why Sora has a connection to Ephemer, strong enough to give him a face and a voice, eventhough he was neither in that battle nor did he become a dreameater (as far as we know).

To be completely honest, I would say that if Player was reborn as Sora, and Sora is one of countless decendants of Ephemer that remain in different worlds, it wouldn't be too farfetched to believe Sora is both the reincarnation of one of Ephemer's friends, as well as his decendant, which is why Ephemer might be with Sora. Another possibility is that Ephemer is Sora, and just doesn't know that he was speaking to himself because it's more about memories of who he used to be, and hasn't yet remembered or assimilated that fact, so he treats a "past self" as a different person. In fact, it could be more or less like the case of Roxas, where Roxas was only a part of Sora until he gained spirit and soul within that body and became a different person entirely, so it's quite possible that if Ephemer were to be a past self of Sora, if Sora decides to say "no" and wanted Ephemer seperated from his heart (assuming my hypothesis is correct), then, Ephemer might end up getting "extracted" from Sora's heart and become a seperate person from his reincarnation, assuming that it makes sense. I mean, Roxas is essentially inside Sora's heart, being part of Sora and possibly part of Ventus to an extent, so, who's to say that a past incarnation within Sora's heart can't become a completely different person at some point? Granted, regardless as to weither Sora is or isn't "this or that guy's reincarnation", we can all agree that this is purely speculation, so we should always take things with a grain of salt.

I would at the same time love and hate seeing Ephemer come back like that. Love, because he is great and I want to see more of him. Hate, because if everyone can just come back through a reincarnation they can just seperate from, death has even less meaning than it already does. xD
I like the descendant theory :) though I prefere to view Riku as part of Ephemers bloodline and Sora as the reincarnated Player. Like that they have ties to both of them and I really like that.
I am so curious if any of the theories turn out to be true. I really can't wait for the next games =)

Like...all of those cute characters From KHUX Are all dead and they came through one last time to help out T^T The swelling emotional music did not help my eye sweat!

That idea is completely baseless. Xion left Sora the moment their Keyblades clashed. KH3 itself, and even Nomura in the ultimania confirm that it was Xion,

I wondered why Sora is afraid to take out that many heartless when he already took out literally hundreds of heartless in Hollow Bastion in a short time.
This scene made me cry so hard. Just thinking all these keyblade wielders are dead and they are fighting and trying to save everyone.
It was in this very moment, when Ephemer appeared that I screamed and laughed and started bawling my eyes out through all the final battle. ❤️Hearts United

This moment pissed me off. Mostly because A LOT OF PEOPLE didn't know who this was. To me, this moment was so MONUMENTAL and UNIQUE. I cried tears of joy the entire time, and my husband looked at me like... "Who is THAT!? I've never seen him before." (He watches me play) I had to explain Ephemer's story. But yeah.... this plot surprise at the KG was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I was annoyed when even a lot of youtubers were wondering who he was. Maybe I'm just too hardcore lol

I think the dandelions are in the box and time moves slower in the box. Ven and the union leaders can get in and out freely but something happen and ven, marl and skuld got thrown out and lost there memories. Maleficent wants the box because she wants to control all the data worlds in it. MoM made it this way so he has an army when they come out. They all trust and respect him. He told luxu to never open it because it has to be MoM for when he feels the times right. My theory

This has to be the most powerfull attack in Kingdom Hearts history. More powerful then the X blade
He had the Book Of Prophecies, given before leaving the Data Daybreak Town thanks to the pods by Brain, who told him to look at it if he needed too. Something tells me that the moment may have something to do with that stuff somehow, unless Ephemer is connected to Sora in some way that we don't know yet (reincarnation, resting inside his heart or another new).
Now that Union X ended this scene is even more emotional, especially if you played the game

The two best epic moments of the game. First being helped out by Ephemer and the keyblade wielders of the past to defeat the huge tornado legion of heartless and the second being saved by Master Yen Sid himself creating a way for the 7 guardians of light to be able to run through in order to fight off against the 13 darknesses. Anyone got a theory to why they didn't intervene until they all perished the first time?

What does Xigbar mean when he says that they failed already? And when Lea says they failed with style? Are they talking about when they all died before Sora brought them back? If so, how do they remember this because didn’t they technically travel back in time??
I'm going to hazard a guess ad say that the names of this "legion" that happens at 2:35 are actually the usernames of all the players from around the world.
They are the names of 300 players who managed to qualify for an event of KHUX.

Bit late but this is how it worked. It was random draw and you could get extra chances by logging in during a period of time, beating the event, placing top 300, and have a guaranteed name by placing top 10. Basically, this is a "thanks for bankrolling this game for us" because the only way you could get the last 2 was to be a whale.
