This scene showed a weakness in Sora I never really realized he had until I saw it...he always emphasized how his friends were his power, and while they indeed provided great support and motivation, his overemphasis on his friends caused him to overlook his own strength.
That's one of the Many Traits Sora has that makes him Special, his Gift to Share the Power of his Friends & Vice-Versa.
Without this Gift, he's actually about the same as Riku.
I love you point of you. He is not confident about himself. It is sad. He feel he value nothing. I hope it will change in Kh4

I think the hardest part of watching this is seeing Riku's reaction to Sora's breakdown. You could see how much it hurts him to see his friend like that.
This is why riku is my favorite. He really tried to cheer sora up and he still tried putting up a fight while sora gave up
The Xehanorts did say that they would attempt to Break Them before getting to fight the 13 Darknesses, I Promised they kept on this What if-Reality.
I mean... Sora just lost almost everyone he loved (Besides Riku, but even Riku didn’t last much longer). I’d give up, too.

@@camharkness Xehanort seemed to want to break them without fighting them thus ensuring their victory without opposition. A cruel, but effective method of fighting an enemy. Fortunately, they managed to avoid that, unfortunately Xehanort and his organization were prepared for that possibility.

It might sound like he should've said a long-assed NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, but even when it isn't a NOOOOOO, it still makes you feel bad for the poor lil bugger. He's so upset, that at that moment, he could only get but one scream out, before his heartbreaking vent(us) to Riku.

Just him saying that he is nothing tell a lot about is self estime. Maybe Sora is not that confident in reality and that is cheerful happy personality is just a facade. Maybe Sora is afraid most of the time but like the song he face his fears everytime. This is that scene who make me realise that I like Sora more than I thought. I was shocked and suprise to see him like that. Lot of people say he can't accomplish anything without his friends beside him but the game prove us that even if they are not here they are still here and you can accomplish the impossible. Sora is growing up little by little.

@MAntiSystem Yeah. I think it was too much for him to handle. He just want to be with all his friends and don't worry anymore about everything. He is still a kid after all. But I really think that Sora is less confident than what he show to the others and this scene tell a lot about Sora personality I think.
Something to think about is that Sora has never really gotten the chance to act like a kid or go through the emotional aspects about growing up. He’s been so busy working and fighting that his self esteem around his friends has been to be the light but when that is taken away he’s lost and scared. Look at the KH2 scene with him finding Riku it may look cheesy but consider what Sora had gone through to find his friends and that paints a whole new picture. Everyone has a breaking point and this was Sora’s which is amazing to think about considering the shit he has gone through.

This one scene…this is the scene where after all of Sora’s adventures that could have traumatized him,he finally broke.He’s been through Hell and back(literally) while he was still 14,Missed a YEAR of his life due to CoM,Woke up and continued looking for his best friend, Went through a soul searching journey for a masters test,was captured by organization XIII and failed the test despite doing what he was supposed to do to pass, learned he had more than one heart inside him, and went on another soul searching journey to reawaken his special power which brings him to this point in his adventures. Everything he fought to save,protect,and help taken and possibly dead. Sora even says “without them,I’m worthless” thinking that he accomplished nothing on his own despite him taking on Ansem twice alone in his first adventure. He’s afraid that everyone he knows and loved is gone and he couldn’t save them. He’s lost the will to fight or even do anything anymore.Sora finally hit his breaking point after all he’s been through and even though he goes to the final world and prevents this from happening, he still lost everything and broke here. Sora doesn’t cry often(in Kh2 it was because of Roxas and I can’t remember any time he has cried) yet here all his pain is finally released in one heart-shattering scream. Sora’s true character isn’t the happy go lucky we all know but actually a afraid child being in a string of events he never wanted to happen.maybe In the next game we dive into Sora’s character more and see his true personality.

I think that this is even more heartbreaking if you think about how he's acted throughout the game until now. He has always stayed so cheerful, All his strength and courage came from his friends. Now that they were all gone, he has no strength left to fight.

The fact that Sora was able to hold it together until this scene is something else. I mean he did also watch Will Turner get stabbed earlier and did go off on Davy Jones, but this is just Sora utterly broken.

One last bit of suffering before they're whisked away... mercy at its most ruthless point.
I was playing this with my siblings watching me, we were all freaking out when our favourites get swallowed by heartless, then we hear Sora scream and we go dead silent. We were absolutely shocked, and seeing Sora like that broke me. Kingdom Hearts really knows how to bring on the tears.

Goddamn, this cutscene hit me right in the feels. Seeing Sora, who has always been a happy-go-lucky guy, face such crippling anguish and despair for the first time in his life and not be able to muster an ounce of strength... it’s almost too much to bear. You can hear the hopelessness and agony in Sora’s voice when he screams. He can’t even muster the strength to fight anymore. He just accepts his fate and watches Riku die a hero’s death in front of him. I knew when I was playing through kh3 that Sora would eventually get slammed with an emotional experience since he can’t be happy ALL the time, but damn, I wasn’t expecting it to be this traumatic.

I can’t see Sora like this. I just can’t. It hurts way too much because Sora, the kid who’s always super happy, fun, optimistic and carefree, is so sad and in anguish. But at the same time, I love it because it’s so well done.
This is a great scene for Sora indeed but it’s also a great Riku moment he was always the one in the dark having to be saved by Sora but this time he’s the one who has to give his friend hope and he knows how it feels cause he’s been there before and since he’s not like Sora in the sense of being able to talk freely about his feelings instead of giving him a speech he heads straight into the swarm of heartless great scene almost made me tear up

I’m replaying the game after finishing it a week after it came out and shit like this still hits so hard, but even harder because there were cracks in Sora’s mask from the beginning and he tried to stay strong, to be the happy go lucky goofball because he knew the others needed him to be that way to find strength and ugh. I love this. I love and hate this because like...at the end of it all, Sora’s still a kid. And he’s been forced to grow up so many times and he still kept smiling.
This emotional scene makes me wanna hug Sora! He is so not worthless!

Sora probably had the most character development in KHIII. He literally sacrifices himself more than once to save everyone and yet he still technically was not a keyblade master. Unless of course you consider being bequeathed the X-Blade as Xehanort acknowledging him as such.

Sora's scream gets me every time. Every time! I can't handle seeing that boy cry. I mean, it could be a normal reaction cause he's 15 of course, but geez! Sora, the determinator who never gave up, pretty much kept his cool the entire journey, just lets his emotions out all in one scream and breaks down in tears.😢

This scene is heartbreaking. Sora never valued himself. Only his friends and family. It’s been foreshadowed since the first game not only is he not the “chosen one” (Riku was) but his own friends abandoned him once, leaving himself devastated at the betrayal and a feeling of not being good enough.
He’s been constantly treated like garbage by the villains and even his own friends trash-talked him a lot.
It’s little wonder he has low self-esteem and broke down upon the (thankfully retconned) destruction of his friends.
The fact it’s Riku (the one supposed to inherit the Kingdom Key) who tells Sora he is NOT worthless is a revelation for Sora and a powerful moment.
It makes their ultimate victory of beating the Xehanort trio very satisfying and cathartic considering how much hell the Organisation have put the Guardians through.
The most realistic scream in a video game doesn't exis...
