Point of order: Liliʻuokalani did not abdicate, as abdication implies a voluntary action. She was instead deposed at rifle point, ordered by US agents to sign away her sovereign nation so it could become a vassal of of US corporate interests.

I love how you placed your argument in debate terms.
The formal definition of abdicate is to renounce one's throne, which Lili'uokalani was forced to do. Yes, the term is more used with monarchs who have left voluntarily... but it still sticks.
I have studied the plights of many indigenous peoples, and it's never had a good turn. But I appreciate where you're coming from in your argument and only disagree on the most technical of reasons. Good on you.

Does it imply a voluntary action, though? It's certainly not in the definitions I read. That would make it an abdication, and a controversial one at that. I agree with everything else you said abiut how she was forced to sign away her powers.

Nor was there anyone displeased about Frederik becoming king. And her taking away the titles of Joachims children before scheduled, just indicated she decided on stepping down some time ago, unless she would die before, she has moved a lot of pieces in position to make the transition for Frederik and Mary as easy as possible. She probably just held off on deciding the exact date until shortly before she announced it.

Surely she could have said they wouldn't be doing public appearances/ getting any taxpayer $ without demoting them. Conflict of Interest: Royals may face challenges in maintaining a clear separation between their personal interests and their royal duties. They could encounter situations where their private business dealings conflict with their obligations as a member of the royal family, leading to ethical dilemmas and public scrutiny.
Media Scrutiny: Working in the private industry doesn't shield royals from media attention. If anything, it may amplify it, with the media closely monitoring their actions, decisions, and associations. This heightened scrutiny can make it challenging for royals to navigate their professional lives without constant public scrutiny and criticism.
Reputation Management: Any missteps or controversies in their private business endeavors can reflect poorly on the royal family as a whole. Royals must be vigilant in managing their public image and reputation, as negative publicity can damage not only their personal brand but also the reputation of the monarchy.
Security Concerns: Working in the private sector may present security challenges for royals, as they may be less protected than when carrying out official duties. This can pose risks to their safety and well-being, requiring them to invest in additional security measures.

Leopold III. From what I've read about him, he felt that his place was with his army. If they had to surrender, then he had to surrender with them; but the Belgians preferred the examples of Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and Haakon VII of Norway who both fled and led governments in exile from Britain (Christian X didn't have the time to flee due to how quickly Denmark was conquered). You could have added that rather nasty piece of work King Carol II of Romania who abdicated his rights as Crown Prince - came back and dethroned his own son King Michael - forced to abdicate again during WWII in favor of his son Michael again. Of course there also were the abdications that ended the Romanov dynasty.

I've always felt a bit sorry for Leopold III. He did what he did to save lives, but he didn't have the support that Christian X had. He and his family wound up in a Camp being liberated by Allied forces.
Edit: Also agree about Carol of Romania. He not only took back the throne, he exiled his wife and took her away from her son, then siphoned off the money and left it to his mistress. His son Michael seems like a much better man.

With Silvia and her health problems, i'm not so sure King Karl Gustav wants to be king anymore. The Swedish royal family haven't had this much support in years as they do now, after Margethe's abdication. Silvia has for some time now had problems with her health, and i'm not so sure that her husband wants to be king anymore. You are really REALLY oversimplifying your inputs about Queen Margrethe.
First of all, it’s not as controversial that her grandchildren had their titles removed. They are NOT the first Danish royals to have their titles removed. In the past that happened to, for example, two of the Queen’s cousins, because they married commoners without the consent of the monarch. They were instead made Counts of Rosenborg, which was the traditional title for royals who had their titles removed. Difference between them and the Queen’s grandchildren, the grandchildren have not been removed from the line of succession, whereas the cousins were. It would likely have happened in the future, and it wouldn’t have been any easier had it been King Frederik who removed the titles. The issue has also been resolved in private. So no. I don’t think that has contributed to her abdication.
Second, what happened with Prince Henrik is much much more complicated than the Queen not being willing to make him King Consort. There is a major problem in the way for any Consort to a Danish Queen Regnant of becoming a King Consort. Prince Henrik either actually believed the Queen was able to give him the title but didn’t want to, or just ignored that she actually couldn’t. Yes, a Danish monarch is the one who can bestow and take away titles. But not in this case. What prohibits the husband of a Queen Regnant of being named King Consort, is the Danish Constitution. It says outright, that no person csn be above the King in title or rank. Meaning, that in the eyes of Denmark’s highest law, Prince Henrik would be above his wife in rank and title. It’s a nightmare process to amend the Constitution. The last one was in 1953, which made Queen Margrethe heir to the throne. The Danish politicians have other matters at the top of their list they want to change about the Constitution first. Prince Henrik also died in 2018 and her popularity has remained as high as ever since then. So no. It is not that either.
And finally: The rumors of infedelity began almost two months before the abdication was announced. Even if the rumors of infedelity are true, it would take longer than that to prepare an abdication. It’s ridiculous that some people think she would give up the throne after 52 years, over something that started two months earlier.
Anyone with eyes can see that her health has declined in the past year. She is not a person who lies and she is very dutiful. There is no reason to believe she abdicated for any other reason than her health. She has also been very vocal about how devastating it was for her to be named Queen mere hours after her beloved father had died. She wanted the occasion of her son’s ascension to be a celebration. Not one in the midst of grief.
I also don’t know where you get from that “not everyone” was happy Frederik became King. He has been Crown Prince since he was three years old. Everyone knows he was eventually being named King, and his popularity rate in Denmark is still historically high.
