This and Endymion have made me go back and lower some of my 21+ stepcharts to just be 20, and now I'm wondering if maybe they should be 19s...
to be fair, 16Th streams at 270BPM are incredibly rare. The very high stamina songs in the In the groove usually never have streams that go above the 255BPM.
at 18 steps/seconds, you're in the "wiggle feet" zone and i don't think that many konami pads can handle it.

Honestly, I think Konami intended to cap the difficulty at 19. If there was a such thing as a 20 though, yea, this would be one.
@@T1MB05L1C3 I can almost guarantee a LVL 20 stepping at 500bpm at this point with the motions of a 150bpm chart. it definitely feels like all these A3 charts that are nearing 300bpm are constant streams like a regular charted song.
it'll be an 888 CSP situation again. everyone thinking that's a 19 when all of a sudden Valkyrie dimension's CSP shows up.
I think at this point either this is a 19.6 and easier than Endymion (19.8) to them, or there's never going to be a 20 without a good amount of 19s.
Up to us charters what to do with that.
Putting candles on those 12ths would be one of the cuntiest things Konami has ever done, which says a lot.

I find it kinda weird that more than half of the 19s are either 180/360 or 220/440 BPM. Strange little coincidence.
This feels like Egoism 440 all over again. A shockingly hard Expert 17 chart buffed to a Challenge 19. It does make me happy that this insanely badass song gets a Challenge 19, tho. It does feel like a Final Boss theme.
If by egoism you mean the 17 will be rerated to an 18, then yea
Egoism expert was (and still is) absolutely fine as a 17. There are 16's that are arguably harder than it.

Someone mentioned this in the SP/DP challenge video, but the bursts in the song are not 12th notes but actually 10th notes. Listening to the original track at a slower speed makes it more apparent.
I guess they can't implement 10th notes in-game yet
They're charted as 12ths (note chart goes red green green red green green, 10ths would go red green green green green)
DDR has literally never charted anything akin to that, afaik they have 4th/6th/8th/12th/16th/24th/32nd/48th/64th and that’s it. It sucks cuz they refuse to even chart more complex swing in songs when it does make sense.

@@Cardmaster12 Yeah, I didn’t think another example of that rhythm existed in DDR music yet. It’s certainly not something you hear in most music out there. I’ve encountered it mostly in percussion music.

current thoughts: stamina requirement is slightly less than Endy, Lachryma is definitely easier than this because this has an annoying amount of tech
Apparently, the part towards the beginning that alternates between the 8ths and 12ths is actually supposed to be 10ths (quintuplets). Maybe Konami's step editor can't go that precise?
Edit: correction it's all of the 12th runs
what would stop them from using 64ths to try and get close even if whatever software they had couldn't get accurate 10ths?
@@almost_friday9745Most rhythm games snap all notes on a 1:192 grid, so it wouldn't even be that hard to approximate at 360 xD
My idea for the 10ths: put that section at 900 BPM with a 0.4x scroll factor. 450 BPM with 0.8x scrolling also works if you want blue arrows mixed in. Let the split-timing commence! 😁
To be fair, they did put 5 notes within the space of 2 beats, so if they were evenly spaced they would be 10th notes, but they are 12ths mixed with 8ths instead

Aside from all the tech and XMOD stuff, 2/2-3 @ 270 with steppy AF patterns. Why is this official now, and why isn’t there any 250 or 260 tier stuff in other charts cuz the closest thing to this is the death run in Valkyrie Dimension (4 @ 240)
Bitter chocolate striker CSP has a lil bit of 250, Other than that yea it kinda jumps from 240 to 270 with this and Eon break lmao (and a lil bit in max 360)

I'm not good enough to compare 19s to each other (I've only beaten two 17s) but I really hope this isn't harder than Endymion. It's a really good final boss song and whatever dethrones it after all these years needs to be a great chart, not... THIS. Like, I thought we were done with this kind of boss charting. Random tech/BPM shifts in random places, those streams... I get what they were going for, a skill check for everything, but I don't think it worked.
Also people keep saying this is the hardest 19 but MAX 360's comments said the same thing and we know how that turned out... is this the same thing or not? I'm guessing not with those streams but just wanna be sure.
Endy might still be harder but this is also close. Either way 20s will dethrone any 19
Endymion is more difficult overall.
In BREAKING THE FUTURE (BTF), the following stretches of notes play more like a high 18 than a 19:

746-772 (26)
879-924 (45)
In a rough total, that is 587 steps, or ~63-64% of the song's total steps, that play more like an 18, with only ~1/3 of the song carrying the difficulty into a high 19. By comparison, Endymion and Lachryma are both more consistent and unrelenting in their difficulty, albeit with arguably lower peak difficulty than the 18 NPS streams in BTF.
I can beat every 19 and I definitely feel Endymion and Lachyrma are definitely harder. The 24th bursts are brutal, but if you have the foot speed, the rest of the song isn't much harder than an 18. I kind of like this chart actually. People think it looks like nonsense like the other tech heavy 19s but this plays so much smoother than something like Paranoia Revolution or Valkrie Dimension.

Welp, if you're a non-Grand Prix user, you won't be able to take a stab at this chart for like a full year lol since GP song packs don't become available by default until a year after their release. So basically not until next BPL DDR season when this is considered "old" and a new song is out by then.
Always a catch. Really feel they could have made this a default challenge chart so that all players could get the opportunity to enjoy it, or at least make it a Gold Cab exclusive, SOMETHING.
New 19, got everyone hype, till they find out there's a catch and they can't even try to play it yet. Probably the only thing that annoys me about DDR.

Look at Paranoia Revolution’s Challenge chart, come back, and tell me this isn’t a 20. I know apparently they’re on degrees of “19s” but this is LEAGUES of difficulty above Paranoia Revolution, even MAX 360.
You only have 7 other 19's to compare it to. Foolish people constantly jump to conclusions way too early like this. Say the other 19's are a 19.0 / 19.1 / 19.1 / 19.2 / 19.2 / 19.3 / 19.6 and then this comes clocking in at a 19.8 or something. You don't have enough other 19's to compare it to as a baseline to say that it's so much harder that it should be a 20. Please try and remember the thousands of people that thought Paranoia Hades and 888 should be 19's, or that Egoism should be a 20. And now that you have more 18's and 19's to compare them to how do those claims feel now?
