That’s a good question. Unfortunately I don’t know the answer. I would guess the encoders are tied to the linear readouts. On an old Starrett CMM I ran the motors actually burnt out because the CMM was constantly trying to hold position even when no one was using it. We finally learned to e-stop when not using. I’ve asked about this on every subsequent CMM I’ve ran since. Mitutoyo said it’s not an issue with theirs as that was old technology.

I started with the start up/shut down procedure. I teach a class on the CMM and start with that one. I didn’t think to number them. But if you go by earliest to last it should be in order of how I teach it. The last couple I have done have been things I don’t go over in class but subjects followers have inquired about. One important thing tho, dont shutdown the machine while the Head is rotated towards the left or right side, otherwise u might collide during referenze.

I used to work at a place where they have Crysta Apex 7106. They use Window 9 for their software.
