Watching the NBA for decades, I have never dream that one day players will complain about playing 65 games. How the NBA has declined. Players are not only SOFT but SPOILT.
It's also boring. So add that to the fake load management and you have a problem on your hands. The money is guaranteed for players. But fans have no guarantees on who's going to play on any given night. So I don't even expect these guys to play.
@loudertv8676 It's also corrupt. When you see the officiating inconsistencies and remember how they admit to having vendetta with certain players and even gambling on their games...
@@alex1vid yeah. I didn't believe this at first. However, there's evidence that gives credibility to this.
this comment is on point
Nah. Not SPOILT. Not “SPOILT.” /
That's another reason Stockton's assist record will never be broken; 16 seasons playing every game?!?! Wow.
And I believe a lot of those are real assists stats. Nowadays, players get assists even though the player that got the pass dribbled more than two times after.
It will be broken, they erased defense and made assists easier to get. Almost any player can drop 60 points
and getting battered by way more physical players every game and still come back to work the next day
@@streetjones7713 But are all still in the shadow of WILT copying his photo but never his impact
@@streetjones7713 it will take a player averaging more than 10.5 assists per game AND play more than at least 18 seasons-- and play nearly every single game. its never going to be broken. man averaged a double-double.

65 games ain’t crazy to ask for
fr if it was sterling all these all stars would be playing... adam silver just babies these players. And it ain't ever about the owners... it was sports betting companies that pushed silver to make the 65 rule. But as a fan
It’s not at all, they get like 3 breaks in between that time period too. It’s really not that insane to ask.
It's really the argument that there are legit injuries and you should still be eligible to make those categories if for example you play 60 games. There should be a difference between load management and legit injury.
@@kyleflgoodI agree if it’s legit however teams were taking advantage of that. A small pain in ur finger can be used as a reason to sit so it’s hard for the league to legitimize what’s real n what isn’t.
exactly (set injuries aside)
Honestly this is my favorite Stephen A rant. He’s so right, these words should be echoed in all NBA Locker rooms
100% agree with him on this one. Current players were given too much power, developed a selfish attitude while completely forgetting the fans that pay wishing to see them play. Pathetic, Gen Z mentality.
I remember Kobe being interviewed after he retired. He was asked about owning a team. He laughed and said the players were entitled. Looking back, that’s prophetic at a time like this.
Mikal Bridges the only real one left, respect to him for still not missing a game
Mikal got that durability something a lot of players don’t have
Also guys like Kevin Durant most of the time finds a way to play even if he’s slightly hobbled.
So now we’re saying players aren’t real ones cause they get injured. Obviously they’re trying to 🤦🏻♂️
@@ryanpeterson8319 yeah but some players like Kawhi sit out of games even if they are 90% good. At least play for just half of the first quarter so fans get to see you.
@@ryanpeterson8319 most players have sit out because of their coach, but these big name players have the power to influence if they will play or not. So instead of telling their coach they want to play, they keep quiet.

I was directly responding to your claim about being jobless due to missed work. It’s not that simple in actuality, if it persists beyond 5 years then maybe that would be cause for concern. Facts. Simple.
Larry Bird's load management was lying prone at the Boston bench whenever he came out of the game.
It’s because he did his own yard work 😢, put his back out, still played 82 games with a bad back
And having his spine adjusted before games so he'd have a 6-7 hour window to be able to play in a game at all. Dude could reportedly barely tie his shoes and was out there playing.

Haliburton had a severe and legitimate injury, something Stephen A. does NOT mention in this non-contextual rant. czcams.com/video/CzP22yTnihA/video.html The reason Haliburton said it's a stupid rule is because players like LeBron have sat out games to just to rest for load management for YEARS and still earned All NBA, MVP, All Star honors in the past. Players that have a legitimately serious injury meanwhile get passed over for those awards simply because they got seriously injured through no fault of their own. YES, I agree that fans needed to be fuming....but at players like LeBron who regularly rested so much that this rule had to be created. The players paying the consequence for actions like LeBron took are the players that play every game their body will let them play (like Haliburton), but get seriously injured and don't have a choice but to be out to heal. Stephen A. is unjustly smearing Haliburton's name, and people just believe it without looking to see if it's true. Haliburton played all of the IST elimination games and the IST Finals with a severe upper respiratory infection. He is NOT who Stephen A.. says he is - quite the opposite.
This rules is made for the fans, if you have problem with that address it to the fans.
Bout to tell my manager i need 20 days off the year hopefully they still pay me.
What you really mean is 77 days off. That’s what it would have to be for these nba players to play 65 of 82 games and don’t forget paid 77 days off.

Steven A laying down facts. This is why I don’t watch NBA anymore. I grew up watching NBA religiously in the 90s, those dudes gave everything they had for this game. It seems that isn’t the case today.
These dudes nowadays make 40mil per year, and need games off because of partying too much, the night before! I hate the NBA.
I seen somebody say “these nba players just got limited pto’s now just like us” lol I agree and we get paid a fraction of what they get paid
But you don't even generate a fraction of the revenue they generate. Seems y'all are over paid.
Kobe really was the last of the real legends.
It got so bad I almost stopped watching some prime games last year because I knew ppl would miss... Growing up, in the late 90's and 2000's, 72 games was like oh he is sort of injury prone..now 65-70 games is like the new 82.. lol....and the guys in the past that didn't play 82, I bet most of them played 70-75 games+ in 90% of their seasons, unless they had a severe injury
wow how times have changed. now if you play 70, you're considered iron man
Should be a MINIMUM 70 games. I would say 75 games is fair.
The only way to describe players now are spoiled. They grind for the money, when they get it they take a backseat and enjoy the ride. Its pathetic.
Dam I played more street ball games a year growing up in the 80’s and 90’s in the Bronx. So many games we played a day and I wasn’t even nice. Different Breed!!!
How you gonna be the mvp of you missed 20% of the season😅 it’s just common sense
You can't be MVP unless voters decide you deserve it. So if a player who missed 20% of the season is still voted to be the MVP there are two possibilities. Either he deserved that even with that amount of games or the NBA let incompetent people be the voters. In both situations 65-game limit doesn't solve a thing. Also, there is no reason a player who missed 18 games looses an award to player with worse season but one game played more. No common sense in prioritizing 65-game player over 64-game player not based on their stats, not based on their record, not based on voters opinion but arbitrarily based on that one more played game.
@@myPrzeslaw no one in the history has won an mvp playing 65 games or less (unless it was a lockout season or Covid) But you have a good point. Embiid won it last year with 66 games so only one more…maybe that was their logic behind choosing 65. It is def aimed at incentivizing the best players in the league to not take every back to back off and not really any real logic behind it.
@@Playboyy1985 No one won an MVP playing under 65 games simply because number of games played was always a factor for voters. And would still be, no forced limit is necessary for that.
@@myPrzeslaw yea I agree so why are the players mad then?
@@Playboyy1985 Because it's not just about MVP. 65 limit applies to All-NBA Teams which by another stupid rule from 2017 decides what contract can be offered to a player.
David Stern would have eventually did the same thing, just sooner

Amen! Same here. Not wasting money on these spoiled players
Its not about the owners its about the fans we hate paying hundreds of dollars on tickets for the stars to sit out
No one is blaming a player if he’s hurt. But tired? Worried about getting hurt? SA has a point.
Did he just say the game's more physical today? Dude, get off the weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeD!! 🤣😂🤣😂
It actually is because they have to cover more ground on the court now. The NBA has been keeping up with the milage on each player body with analytics for years. So all of the extra milage on their legs is causing the injuries we see even with the rest.
@@cubbdacrossfacecrippler Facts. And athleticism is on a much higher scale than ever before, which is more strenuous on the body.
65 game rule should be applied to all players not just to mvp candidates. Like 50% of their salary should be given only when you played at least 65 games.
Many fans have money to maybe take their family to see a game once it twice in their life. I've been to a rest game and the best player was Rudy Fernandez. Stars make a big difference in the NBA. I did not get the product i paid for. Fans pay to see stars and they are paid accordingly. Earn your keep and stop complaining about having to show up to win a lottery every season.
For reals. I’m here in Sac. I really wanted to see Hali play here in Sac last month. I was going to spend $300 on 3 tickets. When I found out he wasn’t going to be playing I ended up not buying those tickets.

65 games is totally fair. They have the best facilities, shoes, nutritionists, everything at their disposal to preserve and take care of their bodies. There’s no way they can’t play 65 games when back then they would play in converse and Jordan 1s and have not have any where near the resources there are now to stay healthy and would still play every game in the season not to mention the added physicality back then.
I’m a certified Adam Silver hater but I agree with this new rule.
Stephen A is amazing when he is right
But people forget how competitive the game was when the Spurs played the back ups against Lebald and the Heat. They had to go to OT to beat them, they should've thank Pop for not playing the starters and not get embarrassed on national tv! 😅

I think you can do away with the 65 game rule and do something like a disable list like baseball

I agree with SAS on this
This might be SAS’s best rant ever. I hate that Halliburton put out that tweet because he was fast becoming my favourite player in the league. Hurts to know that he’s just another entitled brat.
To be fair though some “new media” have called these guys out. Gilbert Arenas… Paul Pierce & KG…
It was not a tweet it was a interview. Halliburton isn’t being done fairly he is actually injured with a hamstring . And you should watch the interview his tone is more like if I need to play the 65 games than it is what is
I get the aspects of load management but when people talk about Coach Pop…
People forget that Tim Duncan played less than 65 Games a year only 3 times (technically five due to the lockout seasons but those don’t count)
Manu only four seasons and same with TP…
It's another reason i wont go to games anymore, no way im shellings out $500+ for a night out just to watch my favourite players in street clothes. Let alone the atmosphere problems with games
NBA should change stats from per game to per season than it would be obvious that having 20 or more Games with 0 stats would make this problem even statisticly visible.
Gen Z don’t wanna be better basketball players
Start paying per game played unless there is a proven injury
PREACH!
I'm not a fan of SAS but man this man seems to be the only one who cares about this, he is super passionate and fighting for all fans and i appreciate it ❤️
This rule applies to about 40 players, with 15 on All-NBA teams and 10 on All-Defensive teams, plus Most Improved. And they are generally the best compensated players.
Yes, Tyrese Haliburton will likely lose the pay bump from 25% to 30% of the salary cap in his contract extension. But if he is bothered by that, he should look in the mirror and then call his agents. He agreed to the contract extension at the end of June, the new rule was announced in mid-April.
He needs to ask for a trade to a bigger market, so he can make some of that money back on endorsements. Which is probably the leagues real goal, to get more stars going to the Knicks and Lakers.
He knew about this before the season started. You can't tell me they cant get him 20 hurt, if you injured then you should of talked to your agent not to allow this. Also this is the reason this is in your contract, it a bonus not a guarantee.
@@jackjohnson8244 I think the league does better when the stars are spread out, when they stay in smaller markets. NY and LA have only 10-15% of the country's population. if they make rules that in the contract period, you make all NBA or get all the other awards, you are eligible for this bonus, then nobody will be mad. I think teams are happy to pay this bonus to keep their stars. after all, it's only certain players can get it.
these new players remind me of diva wide receivers

How do you want AD to play when he's injured?
Can't believe I'm saying this but Stephen A is 100% right on this one. The players are so soft and such cry babies in today's game its unbelievable! He forgot to say the players are softer than before! 🤨🙄
If a player sits out a game for "rest" then they should forfeit that games pay
Why if it’s either the coaches or the training staff’s decision? The player should lose pay for doing what the coach or his trainers told him to do?
the guy who is suppose to put up the graphics screwed SAS over not showing what he wanted. then he had to ad-lib and it fell apart
Interesting take for players that miss the 65 game threshold :
They are still eligible for all awards but their vote will be lower. Instead of 1 vote being 1 vote , those players would have like 3/4 of a vote for each voter that chooses then. So if enough media, players, fans still believe this player should win this or that award they’d need to be really in it and ahead of votes.
Or maybe instead if 3/4 you can figure out other numbers that’d work better

Labron James is an example of someone playing 82 games at age 36,37, etc. Younger players have no excuse. I agree earn your money 💰 😊. Your fans pay allot of money for the tickets cause they appreciate you. 65 games not much to ask for.
Great take Stephen A. The general public is so sick of modern day NBA players not playing due to load management or taking off days when they can get on the court, NBA players today don't get it and what they need to do to promote the league or understand what previous players sacrificed to get them their bad in today's NBA salary market. They are spoiled premadonnas who will only hurt their product. Money corrupts, absolutely and they believe they are entitled. Where is the love of the game playing for the right reasons?
giving yourself an amen is HILARIOUS
As a fan im tired of buying tickets for the family to go to a game expecting a certain product and the STARS are missing. So disappointing. Im glad that the NBA is taking action.

From a fan standpoint im glad, regular season was getting boring af with no stars playing most nights. If you want the awards play them 65 games 😎
That's true as f. It's like working on your job at an office and complaining about going to work.
They should let the players choose their own advertisers to work with for the slam dunk contest, and other contests.
If the players don't like it they can quit and work at Walmart, and if you don't go to work at Walmart you don't get paid, and not only that, even if you show up for work, will you get paid as much as an NBA player, I think not.
The only point against the 65 game rule that is relevant is Shaq's point that someone could miss out on awards/money because someone fell on their knee. That said, I don't think players are going to be having those kinds of contracts going forward.
