These structures are at least 10,000 years old. Think about that for a second. We've been solving complex engineering problems for a loooooooong while. We're a really cool species!

two ideas, one the fox could be a symbol of the tribe, so as to mark the human figures as being from their tribe. two, the fox could be a symbol for the afterlife, marking these figures as ancestors. perhaps both. in any case, the animal carvings seem to be symbolic in nature, not depicting an actual animal but what the animal stands for in their mythology.
Modern archeologists: "what could these foxes on the columns mean???" Some neolithic stone carver 10,000 years: "Yo! Look at these foxes I just carved. Don't they look dope! I love foxes."
When it shows the whole area image, and if all those blocks around are supposed to be statues of people, (to me), it looks like a religious procession of sorts, I am not saying that's what it is, it's just what it looks like to me
These pillars are well preserved because they have been buried for most of their existence. It makes you wonder if Stonehenge once was carved, but its decorations have disappeared by weathering.
"You know, I was just thinking, if we make these things anymore abstract people are gonna think they were built by those weird guys who visited in that starship last year."
They could be. But it's logical to assume that an ancient culture without much infrastructure(that we know of) wouldn't put in such Herculean efforts just for the lulz.
There are good reasons why Archaeologists often assume a religious function for things like this. The amount of work and care it took to make these things was remarkable, especially considering the tools they had access to. Thus whatever reason the people who made these had to make these , it was super important to them. In modern "primitive" societies, the thing that motivates them, like that is religion, so there is good reason to suspect that religion also had the same sort of impact on the lives of these people here
I keep mentioning this whenever I see a video on Gobekli tepe, and my comments, mysteriously, get deleted. So here is my question, who buried the site and why? The reason I'm asking is because Gobekli tepe is massive in size. Archeologists estimate that it will take hundreds of years to excavate the entire site. The other calculation I've heard is that it would have taken ten thousand men at least two hundred years to bury the site, because they didn't have heavy equipment, obviously. That seems completely incomprehensible because no culture is going to commit to spending the next two hundred years just to bury a site like that. It wasn't buried by a landslide or any natural event, so who did this and how? I have my own guesses as to why they did it, but I still can't figure out how they did it.
Natural phenomena usually, as a new civilisation emerges, or an old one collapses. Former places of importance are left in ruin, forgotten about. Then nature takes its course.
Probably just decorate pillars to support a roof. As you've noted, they were quite capable of carving accurate statues. If they had wanted them to look like human figures, they would have.
"...they would have." Ummm... No. There's LOTS of reasons people with the capability to do something, don't do something. IE: Picasso could absolutely create human portraits, he chose not to. The Amish absolutely can create dolls with human faces, but they don't for religious reasons. And those were the first two off the top of my head. As I'm typing this even more and coming to mind. Saying that because someone could something but doesn't, that the answer why is obvious, is absurd. Because no, it isn't.
The timeline being several thousand years older than the 6000 date typically adhered to by believers of the Noah flood story. And the region being almost 500 miles apart...IF one accepts one of a bunch of Noah locations. Yup. Timeline and region add up.
@@willthewhale8021 well I don’t believe that 6000 years b/s at all. Gobekli Tepe was built around the time of the last glacial maximum, about 12,000 years ago, and I believe this is when Noah actually lived. The ark came to rest in the MOUNTAINS of Ararat which is close enough to gobekli Tepe to be feasible. The story of Noah mirrors the epic of Gilgamesh , and Gilgamesh lived about 12,000 years ago. So, yes, time and region DO indeed align.

It's my first time to know that the t-shaped pillars actually humanoid figures
Its just a theory.

Actually 11,600 years old and Karahan Tepe, which is in the same region is even older. Amazing!
These people got it, these people knew how awesome foxes were
you know what a loincloth is? they using fox skins to cover their private bits 😅
Lol

The believability of that hinges on how many fox carvings there are.

I dunno, the British wouldn't steal from themselves, would they?

Anthropomorphic ( human shaped) and animal figures represent the ecliptic, specifically the twelve zodiac signs.

It looks like the enclosures were probably filled in by landslides, unless you've read something I haven't

What are statues? We just don’t know.
Aliens confirmed.
I'm kidding kidding. Foxes are cute so kids asked for foxes. And they whined and whined and parents finally did it.
Dude why is Oliver wearing that ridiculous scarf?
The rain erosion on top of the Ts is a testament to their incredible age
like the T shaped doorways to enter home s they built
Or a TJ Max.
Pharaohs wore tails also. Hmmm...😮
So why we using a Turkish name for a site that was def not Turkish lol
The only said that made any sense was "we don't know" All the rest was baseless conjecture.
Archeologists don't know????
Did I not see a phallus, embraced by arms?
They are roof supports!
And the world wide "handbags" 3 at the top of a T- pillar. Go figure
Aliens.
I doubt aliens have identifiable heads or arms.
They were great builders but they are lost ppl. They created these temples as presentations of their own beliefs.
Yes!! Anthropomorphic statues!!

Did anyone else notice how the tops of the T-pillars appear to have been worked to a similar design? Maybe like hair?
Its not its 10K years of erosion. They were buried most of that time, so only the tops were exposed to weathering and probably much taller.
The Pillar Men
This site is so over rated
Nah it’s a column doing what columns do.
I think the viewpoint of archeology will be rewritten..... If closed-minded archaeologists can get out of their own way which I doubt😮
These were built by Noah. The timeline and region are correct for this.
