The last step, knowing when to apologize, definitely needs its own lesson. At least for codependent people lol

I love your tips on what to do. I have an angry partner he's angry everyday. It's not possible to talk to him he'll just get more angrier and tell me it's my fault or something. He's someone who does not apologise for his actions. Its very hard to do what you have suggest to do...

Maybe these steps are okey in relationship but not in other environments. It's someone else anger management that should be addressed here not a victim should adjust and apologise!

Okay where do I sign up for this class!
I need to know how to handle my sons explosive anger and tirades. He lives in blame and I dont want to punish him for being (essentially mentally ill) angry, but I feel I'm allowing it to continue by not setting appropriate boundaries. But I dont know what they look like so I just remain calm and compassionate. Sure he gets pissed that I DONT take responsibility for his reaction, (If I would just be perfect, he wouldnt need to get mad ) but is that all I do? I dont believe in telling him WHAT to do, but I do feel I need to finally tell him he needs to figure it out, because it's becoming a regular occurance to the point it's scaring my younger kids and husband (and me honestly). It's getting worse.

I struggle with step 4 because often when I ask for solutions, their solutions require controlling and changing me, rather than them finding a solution that they can do. What do you suggest for this?

If you slap someone in the face, aren't you responsible for their emotional reaction? Yes, you are.
The problem with the approach suggested in this video is that some people see the world through an amplified lens. Especially in the case of BPD. Hence any minor thing will feel like a slap in the face, which makes them convicted that you are guilty for their emotional reaction.

I have a question. Is it fair for me to be angry with my boss for *secretly* having a disrespectful perspective of me? She expressed herself at a hypnotist show. See, the hypnotist asked the participants to explain a complex philosophy they each have, and my boss talked about intelligence and hard work. She said she didn't believe that everyone was smart; that only certain people were while others were unintelligent. She also said that hard work does not always make people smart. She used my name as an example. She said some people were smart and hardworking, and thus were successful, e.g., in school. Some were smart but lazy and thus didn't manage what they _could've._ And finally that some people were hardworking...but not smart. She referenced me. She talked about how I was a slow learner at work, got things mixed up, and couldn't seem to do anything right alone. How she didn't think I could manage one-person shifts without someone to guide me. Especially after the time I set a wedding reception with black linens, not white, the official/usual color (though in my defense, black linens were used for *most other* events, so thus it was a natural psychological error.) She mentioned how I didn't have a driver's license and still lived at home with my boss in my late twenties.
The hypnotist, who seemed surprised by her comments, said, "So just to clarify, you don't think he has much honor or dignity in him? That he's a dimwit and a joke?" And to my dismay, my boss said, "Yes, exactly." That hurt so much. So...do I have a right to be mad at her? She didn't say this consciously, let alone to my face, but she thinks that way. Even in private, I think that's disrespectful and shameless. Do you, guys?

00:56 🧠 You are responsible for your actions, not someone else's emotions. They are accountable for their own emotional reactions.
01:25 🙏 Acknowledge the other person's emotions without necessarily taking responsibility for them. Thank them for sharing their feelings and ask for their input on moving forward.
02:24 💬 Apologize when necessary, taking ownership for your actions and their impact. If an apology isn't warranted, express sincere regret for any strain on the relationship caused by the situation.
