    Sancocho is delicious. It is very common in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. It is a soup made with different meats and tubers such as cassava, potatoes, green plantains and pumpkins.

    We sailed this ship in October 2016. Apart from the timeshare stuff which was high pressure then, we really enjoyed it. The crew was very friendly and helpful. The entertainment at that time was great with a lot variety-magic shows, acrobats, and music. The best thing we like was the fact that the ship was only half full. This made the small size of the ship prefect. Additional we sailed to the island of Bimini instead of Freeport.

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  Před 4 lety +3

      That's funny... the timeshare guy basically gave us his pitch, then said for us to come back and see him if we were interested. No pressure at all, wow. But yes, it was definitely a quiet, uncrowded experience, hah!!

  • @skylerroxasmidoriyatardisp2882

    My Mom's first cruise was aboard the this ship in the 80s when it was the Carnival Celebration, and it happened to be on the cruise where they collided with a Cuban Freighter and sinking it in the process. They showed me pictures they took from the cruise, photos of everyone on deck wearing their life jackets, photos of the ripped and damaged hull of the Celebration. I didn't believe them because my mom continued to love cruising till I saw the pictures.

    Watching this vlog brings back memories of the Carnival Jubilee (Celebration's sister ship). I sailed on Jubilee back in March 2003 out of Galveston for a dance competition/Spring Break trip. As soon as you entered the lobby area, I was getting flashbacks of the Jubilee! The dining room area was very similar as well.

    The ship definitely reminds me of the Carnival's fantasy class ships. I love that you used your Royal Caribbean cups on the Bahamas Celebration! It actually looks like Bahamas cruise line are booking for Mother's Day weekend, of course I don't think it will happen. We just hope we are able to go on our booked Royal Caribbean July 4th cruise!

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  Před 4 lety +3

    WOW - just 6 exits north of my house on I-95 (and a bit East) & I have yet to try Bahamas Paradise!! That ship truly reminded me of my early days of cruising when I did cruise with Carnival. The Port of Palm Beach is basically an industrial port - although if you continued east on Blue Heron (and went over the bridge) you’d be on Singer Island - a very nice beach. That buffet did look yummy - I’ve heard both good & not so good about Bahamas Paradise - and I truly like longer cruises now - but it’s a nice way to get to Nassau. For a lot of years there was a ship called Palm Beach Princess- a 1/2 day gambling ship with a nice buffet, fun casino, small lido deck & some entertainment. It was a really nice way to spend a 1/2 day (Zoe night)! I celebrated my 50th bday on that ship with 14 friends/family!! I was sad when the Palm Beach Princess stopped sailing (the ship had a lot of engine problems). So glad to see you 2 on this ship - so when cruising starts again I’ll be able to make an informed decision about booking with Bahamas Paradise!! Thanks Dee & Jay - love your videos!

    How fun to see this ship and I appreciate your showing it to us. The talk about the sales tables along the way at the port was great information. That carpeting was also just a little too far to the right, in my opinion, but then maybe it was supposed to match the armchair art that didn't quite get the subject in view! Or maybe it's like that on purpose so you know which way you are heading in those long halls (like the fish on the NCL floors?). Probably more likely a sale for large long pieces of carpet!!
    That was TOTALLY a buttocks in that one piece of art, cracked me up!! 💖

    cool THANKS! ..wow i didnt know they bought the old carnival cruise liner. Cool. THe vid was really fun!. You guys are funny. Ive been looking into Bahamas Paradise for my big cruise in 2022 but hadnt realized they bought the older ships that were sold off in 2020. Awesome. I like those from the vids i had seen. Im not one to go on a MEGA mega ship..with waterparks and go-carts or something..dont mind n=but its just not something i would actually do on a cruise. The reason i like the smaller older ships. Your vid really helped me decide wich company to sail with. The Celebration add to the fleet was a very pleasant surprise for a back to back sail idea i was really looking forward to and try out several ships in a row. I guess after saving for years , ya just gotta splurge hé ..lol. Also you guys are cute! You go well together. you can always tell by the smiles. You guys pose.smile the same..lol.. couples that really go together actually copy eachothers features and traits ..even way of speech is a blend of both worlds ...awesome!...little jealous too..hihi... a car hit me crossing the street at 32 yrs woke up with no memories. Had to relearn everything...am 45 now and dont even remember what that must be like. So you guy take good care of oneanother YOU hear!..its precious and not to be wasted. seeing you guys . that just made the tour twice the fun. They don’t have an unlimited drink package other than for soda, but rather you purchase coupons for discounted drinks. The current rate on their website is $89.67 for 10 drink coupons, valued up to $12 per drink. But once we got onboard, I believe they were promoting a cheaper package which I think we talked about in part two. Hmm.

      They're the only ones I'm aware of that are still sailing some of the older, smaller, "retired" ships. The next best thing would probably be Carnival's Fantasy-class, as you mentioned... Imagination, Inspiration, etc. I believe there are eight Fantasy-class ships in Carnival's fleet.

      The old school Carnival ships didn't really have any... I think even the Fantasy class started with basically none, and then they added them on later. You can sort of tell when you look at the Fantasy that balconies were an afterthought, ha ha...

      Actually, the celebration is heading to be scrapped. The cruise line now has only the one ship, the Grand Classica which is currently being used to house workers to fix power etc in New Orleans so you may have had your cruise just before that.

      They did a lot to the ship. It was a mess when it came to west Palm Beach. Carnival and it’s Spanish company who owned did nothing to update the ship. Before she came to west Palm Beach she was stationed in India and they had to scrub her down. All her beds, carpeting and everything you could think of was updated. But with that said the cruise line kept her classic look. I live in West Palm Beach and we love the Bahamas paradise cruise line and so do the Bahamian people.
