    Great video. Using your video, I just installed a utility sink in our chicken barn and the Rigid hose idea worked like a charm. I used 2 lengths of the hose to get away from the barn and it works great! Thank you from Northern Virginia.

      Greg, we're glad you found this to be helpful. We make ongoing use of this sink during the warm months. It's become something we depend on as we do a variety of tasks outdoors, as well as getting some cold water in the face to cool off with on hot summer days. Thanks for letting us know that you've been able to install a sink in your outdoor workspace as well. Best Regards, DFJ

    I used pond tubing for the drainage. It lasts much, much longer (years!) versus the plastic vacuum cleaner hose. Plus one can buy it by the foot, so you just purchase for whatever length you need. I also just fixed a pipe to where the faucet goes and clamped a garden hose sprayer nozzle that is about 12 inch long and bends down to it. I like the various spray patterns with it and my garden hose attaches to it with a quick connector,

    You could also position the sink over a deep crevasse and discharge waste water into the depths of a glacier-saving money on vacuum hose and brass fittings. Alternatively, you could locate a neighbor’s utility sink, determine when that neighbor is not home, sneak in and use that sink thereby saving $6.42 on hose fittings, $28.32 on “y” adapters and $84.95 on the sink itself-investing this savings in a high yield CD over the course of 35 years results in a profit of more than fourteen dollars (adjusted for inflation). Win Win!

    I want to set up a small sink for an outdoor kitchen and wasn't sure how to set it up without going into the plumbing business. I think this is EXACTLY what I need but want to mount it on the counter for cold water (my sink is like a small bartender sink). I would love a pull out faucet but think that would require more work. Thanks for the idea!!

      Jessie, glad you found it to be helpful! I'd use the single hose and cap off the other side. However, if volume of water is important to you, you'll get more by using the y connector so you get water coming through both sides of the valve. You just get better utilization of the volume of the combined tubes in the faucet itself. I hope this helps, and thanks for stopping by! Best, DFJ

    • @DirtFarmerJay
      @DirtFarmerJay  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching and commenting Bella M. We live in the northern Mountain West of the US and get significant snow, etc. in the winter. We put our sink away in the barn every Fall and get it back out in the Spring. It's very easy to unhook and hook back up - just a drain hose and the garden hose for water supply. That way the sink will last longer if it doesn't have to endure the low temps and you don't have to worry about getting a hot water source. If there is water laying in the hoses during winter, it will freeze and burst the pipes anyway. This sink is meant to be a warm weather assistant to help when all the outside work and gardening is being done. Hope this helps. Best, Dirt Farmer Maggie
