Did Googan Baits KNOCK OFF 6th Sense Baits??? (UNBELIEVABLE)

  • When Googan Baits released their hardbaits this Fall I thought they looked EXTREMELY similar to baits from 6th Sense Fishing. In this video, I pick up 8 models of Googan Baits to compare their profile, length, width, weight, internal components, noise and hooks, with 8 models of 6th Sense Fishing hardbaits. I was completely SHOCKED by the results. What are your thoughts?

      I’ve never liked Milliken because he looks and acts like the typical HS jock who has never been told he’s nit as good as he thinks he is. Oh, and he just another rich kid from a rich family just like the Googans. I only watched this to see if there was any truth to the title. All he’s doing is going exclusive with 6th Sense. If any of this was really truthful, wouldn’t Casey from 6th Sense have filed a copyright/patent lawsuit against Catch Co.? Plus, any company stupid enough to have China produce anything and not expect its design to be stolen is an idiot. I got a company in China to make me a copy of a Paul Reed Smith (PRS) 20th anniversary double neck dragon guitar which sold new for $25,000.00. Its a gorgeous guitar and another of the many amazing PRS guitars. Since I’m not rich like Milliken, I couldn’t afford the real thing. So I contacted several Chinese guitar companies and got the exact specs from the internet of nearly every aspect of what comprised the guitar from PRS and once I picked a company, I sent the specs over. What I ended up with was a cheap piece of crap double neck guitar that looks exactly like the super expensive PRS I used to bring to big shows and used for just one song. It sat in a stand catching everyone’s eye which is what I bought it for.

    (1/3) Ben,
    We hope you give us the chance to respond and that you don’t delete this comment. I know we already discussed many of these points when you first reached out to us. We will share the same information here that we did when you first contacted us.
    First of all, the fact is that there are a lot of baits out there that are very similar and we do our best to find ways to differentiate. But that does not mean one company intentionally tried to copy another company (especially when that company itself isn’t using original designs). First, let us start by saying that we are big fans of 6th Sense paint jobs and they have amazing color schemes. But the fact is that many of the 6th Sense body styles you are claiming 6th Sense designed are based on (or exact replicas) of Lucky Craft body styles or other bodies (i.e. Bomber) that have become common on the market across many brands. These common general shapes were likely the basis for the original body templates given to us by our manufacturing partners, which we then customized in a number of ways (eyes, gills, scales, colors, components, some body shapes, etc.). They also likely used the templates for internals like BBs and weights which have been used by many others as well, including brands like Lucky Craft. (You can open up a number of Lucky Crafts and the internals will be nearly identical to many 6th Sense baits.) Continued...

    • @CatchCo
      @CatchCo Před 4 lety +54

      (2/3)
      Even though we worked off of the body templates that are common on the market and are not original to 6th Sense and have no IP protection, we still told 6th Sense that we would find a way to come to a resolution if they could give us more information on what he thought was proprietary about the bait so we could change it. We asked multiple times for them to send us a list of the original aspects in the baits so we could better understand their concerns. But they weren't having it. All they said was “the baits look similar.” They just demanded a huge payout and crazy royalty for us “copying” things that were not original or proprietary. At that point, we felt this became less about finding a resolution and more about capitalizing on the Googan's success.

      (3/3) We value the partnership that we had with you and all you have done for us over the years. It’s unfortunate that this got to the point that you had to accuse us of trying to intentionally rip off another company you work with (or may own part of?). You worked with us for many years and we hope we demonstrated enough integrity to make it clear that is not how we work. We always tried to support you the best way we could (we never objected to you promoting 6th Sense even though they had a competing subscription). We were always flexible and helpful and tried to help you succeed. We're sorry you came to the decision to post this video especially after the information we already shared with you relating to the process of how these baits came to be and the many similarities on the market.

So if you watch towards the end of my video, I compare the internals of the 6s and Googan bait to Excalibur, which many people said the Snatch was close to...internals weren't remotely similar. I also compare the tail tapers of Strike King, Spro, H2O Express, and Bomber to both the 6S mini mag and GB grande banger when I speak of those baits...also were not similar. Likely made at the same factory just slight differences.....Just like Lew's, Bass Pro, Kastking, Piscifun, 13fishing, Abu garcia, Flooger, Some daiwa, Tsunami.... INSERT 90% of fishing rods...Half the braided lines.....Find a supplier, work with supplier to create an original design based on an existing.....boom a couple months later you have a product. How is this surprising to anyone anymore. You pointed out differences.....That's all it takes. If it's a copy 6th sense should contact a lawyer, pursue an immediate injunction....and file suit. You’re reaching bro. Really far. You named off more differences than you did similarities. You do realize that a bait is supposed to weigh what it weighs... right? And last time I checked, 6th sense doesn’t own the rights to certain weights lol. They weren’t even the first to make a crank bait so I guess that means 6th sense copied strike king and so on and so on. This game can be played with mostly any product and company. I would assume you know all of this though since you’ve read every single article ever written in the history of the world and have also seen every single bait that has ever been created by man 😂😂 Anyone with a brain watching this video will agree with majority of these comments. You said yourself, paint is different, eyes are different, Gill plate different, some of the weights were even different and some of the measurements were even different...even though that creates absolutely no case for you. Even to the eye, the baits are shaped differently. Even that little special taper you spoke on is a little different on each bait. The only thing that’s the same on these baits is, they both have treble hooks, (which I am surprised you didn’t mention) they’re both crank baits and they both have a line tie and split rings (which I am also surprised you didn’t mention) SMH..Watch out Sherlock, this guys giving you a run for your money. 😂😂😂

    I think some valid points were made here. The build quality and material choices also look very similar wouldn't be surprised if these baits were made in the same factory with similar molds to save money. That little notch in the tail seems to heavily support that they are made in the same place. I do however think it is unfortunate that Milliken is sponsored by 6th sense and we already know they wanted royalties from Catch Co. Seems very likely to me that Milliken was asked or payed to bring this public.

    So I'm in Product Management and they were definitely reversed engineered/ direct copies. Fishing is a huge competitive market so not surprised. Curious to see a comparison in water and in materials. That should show a bigger difference. The 6th sense bait had a much cleaner cut when you took the dremel to it. That would suggest better materials used in their mold. Definitely some more to compare between the two but it seems you already proven the obvious between them. Nice video!!!

It takes years to do shit like 6th sense did.

      Maybe it’s the fact that it’s not just the googans but catch co as a whole who helped them and has been making baits for quite some time now as a parent for multiple different companies? Lucky Craft could easily make a video about how 6th sense ripped them off but that wouldn’t get as many views. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s a part of the game. Only thing that makes 6th sense special is their paint jobs. (I know this was a while ago but came back because I thought it was hilarious)
