BUDGET WILD CAMPING - looking for shelter

- Hi guys, this summer is becoming a wash out, isn't it? It is so frustrating when there is adventure to be had. Never mind, I decided yesterday to pull up my "big girl pants" and head out in the rain. I've been on early shifts at work the past few days and suffering awful bad headaches, so it's not been a great week.. nothing seemed to get rid of the bad head, so I thought a nice rainy walk might be the last resort before chopping my head off!
Forgive me. Tonight's video is just a short update, taking you with me as I explore a local ancient woodland in the hope of finding an ideal spot to practice shelter building. The rain never gave up, but it was a lively peaceful walk, and It did me the world of good.
Next week I have 3 days off. The forecast is heavy rain, but im determined to go for my first Wild Camp... stay tuned to see if I get there!

I hope this is not overly forward but I walked in my local park, just across the road, early this morning. Only a few laps, two and a half miles, as the sun came up. I had forgotten just how much these past few months of blurred vision had worn me down. It had been a gradual disintegration of sight, now repaired. I could see the birds and squirrels again who I greeted in French because my joy had left me silly. My neighbour who I had shared a balcony drink with is working a late shift. She also was going out with a mug of tea and a book to sit in the park. Seriously if your vision goes the world contracts and crowds in on you. Fortunately I can view the world anew. It is rather beautiful to look at. Something you have reminded me of. I like walking early, even in London there is hardly anybody about. Perhaps a few men running in shorts. I hope, humorously, that I have long concluded that I do not approve of that kind of thing. A man's knees should only be known to the inside of his trousers and to God. I have dined out on that bon mot for years. I really must get some new material or trousers. As long as we can see we can walk. Who knows what wonders we might yet envisage. Your vlog has illuminated my momentary darkness. I have no reason to suspect that your future adventures will disappoint. As long as they don't disappoint you. With best wishes. You can climb a mountain. I have seen you do it.

As long as you know you can get dry afterwards then walking in the rain can be wonderful.
For the most comfortable night in a forest get a hammock. 🙏

I so fancy doing a wild camp, I’m pretty sure that a lot of my car camping gear will cross over quite nicely 🎉
Sounds great! I can't think what car camp kit I cpuld take back packing tho.....
@@AdventuresWithLilu my car camping lights have built in battery packs (lights and power) sleeping bag, trusty 24 hour thermos (wild camping pot noodle 👌🏻)
@zafiracamper i have a completely different sleep system due to weight, warmth and pack down size, I dont eat pot noodles so can't comment on that, but certainly need to consider pack weight if carrying it and thermos ain't light.
@@AdventuresWithLilu omg no pot noodles 😱😭 (of course all my ideas may prove to be flawed when I actually try😭)

It really is!
Cant beat a good bimble in the woods, even in the rain, what you may find useful in future is taking a walking stick along, one, it'll provide a third point of contact on the ground in wet, muddy conditions, and also the stick comes in handy for moving brush/ferns to one-sided if moving through dense ish undergrowth ,and can be used for helping to set a shelter up, cool video, good health and safe travels, cheers craig

I had the same problem last weekend. Looked for a stealth spot for 2 hours and every spot was overgrown or the ground was full of very difficult to remove vegetation that would destroy my tent. I have a hammock but being midnight i wasnt prepared to set it all up in pitch black haha
Yes I was surprised with the overgrown brambles....this week I think il be battling the boggy ground with all the rain.....wish me luck!!!

Unless you can find a good spot hammock camping is a good option. If you have your heart set on sleeping in your tent I'd recommend finding some secluded fields 👍

People'd to death !! Welcome to my world chuck I take myself off on me bike, then try NOT to run over children and dogs, just great to get out though, ignore the rain just do it !!
