I like how as the series goes on, Mewtwo progressively tries to get farther away from humanity as possible.
In the R/B/G/Y/FR/LG & HG/SS he's in Cerulean Cave to be left alone.
In X & Y he goes off to a foreign country's cave to hide.
In USUM he goes into an entirely different dimension.

In the older games the Great Ball had a higher catch percentage on wounded Pokemon because of a programming error.

Jerad Berry No, it's the last final boss-looking sprite out of these really. It doesn't even have its own encounter music, sprite looks pretty normal (Not bad, but as I said, not final boss-looking) and he wasn't even as strong outside of level. The other ones at least had something like Aura Sphere for the power, and actual uniqueness in them.

This is awesome. Thanks for creating this. Loved using Mewtwo in the Pokemon Stadium games, but was a P.I.T.A trying to capture it in R/B/Y versions, even when having his health in the red and using ultra/great balls.

I remember meeting Mewtwo for the first time in Red, being just level 59 with all my pokemon... I had used my masterball on the Zapdos, so i tried catching Mewtwo with ultraballs. Needless to say, it DESTROYED every pokemon i had!
I also killed it a few times, as i never had the forethought to save before talking to it...

That's the game's way of telling you that there wasn't a single Pokeball shake on your attempted catch. Unless the Pokemon's asleep or frozen, if the ball shakes, the catch is guaranteed. Sleep or Freeze give a flat increase in rate enough to the point there'll be a guaranteed single shake, so sleep the target, weaken them to 1/3 or below and chuck balls until caught.

Mann I wish GameFreak used Mewtwo's battle theme from Pokemon Stadium instead of sticking with the legendary theme from FR/LG. It still sounded good and at least it was unique.

Sad news is, Mewtwo was much stronger as an enemy in the wild before EVs/IVs kicked in.
Red/Blue Mewtwo was quite a bit tougher. Legendary catching these days is only interesting for me with Beast Balls on Non-Ultra Beasts as it's a cakewalk otherwise, even with Pokeballs.
I think they should fix that for the Elite Four + Legendaries with varying difficulties - even if it's only for the fight itself.
I loved when you couldn't see what pokemon it was in the overworld, first you save and then you encounter it and it slides into battle still a bit in the shadow, then it appears and wah awesome :D
wow wait a second at least they still do the shadow thing in the 3D games :D

Ok but you have to talk to Bill to get the SS Ticket to progress in the game so “someone’s PC” is impossible when catching MewTwo as you have to defeat the Elite 4 and the Champion to gain access to Cerulean Cave to catch MewTwo. Something is very off with that (presumably) Red gameplay...

Luke Bowling well some ultra spaces are different dimensions, like for example the main villains of every game was summoned into usum but where they originally came from they won their fight because the player character of that dimension never existed, so yes there are multiple team rockets that made multiple mewtwos. Its kinda crazy when you think about it

i only played up to gen 4, and i have to say, the last version has a pretty dope cutscene.
It was a missed opportunity to make the champion music play when you battle Mewtwo for that extra intense feel.
Now I'm thinking... Do Mewtwo ever respawn if you kill it without catching it?
I know it does in Heart Gold/Soul Silver if you beat the Elite Four again but I'm not 100% sure about later games.
