*That formula is applicable if the column has a pin support and no moment at base other wise you need to include the moment which the porduced by lateral loads such as earthquake and wind.*
Sir, is it possible you make a chart or a table for all the requirements for beams and columns, their size, spacing, steel dia, number of steel bars, size of footing, type of footing, depth of footing, sbc, conc grade etc.. for domestic and commercial buildings from G+1 up to G+10? It will be very helpful and we will appreciate.
Nicely explained The question arises whether the 0.00 level of the building is raised in relation to the ground, e.g. 0.5 m up. How to read the foundation level according to the formula (whether in relation to the construction embankment or in the native soil) E.G. calculated foot depth 1.5m. , whether to count relative to the native soil or relative to the 0.00 level?
The assesment of an effective depth of foundation is usually one of judgement or design office procedure but a ratio of width of base to overall thickness of 5 is fairly a good starting point. In rectangular section the width is taken as the shorter side.
First of all I would like to express my appreciation for your support. We are in a proses of building G5. However we are making a mistake when we aligned the foundation column from 5 to 10 cm. The pad is poured with concrete but the columns are not poured yet. Q.1- is it ok to bend the rebar to fix the alignment? If so what is the recommended or the min and the maximum limit to bend the rebar Q-2 how deep we have to chisel the foundation pad to bend the rebars and is additional support required ? Thank you ! I would look forward to get the information
Whats the depth of foundation should be for a house of modern bricks with 3 bedroom, 1 bath, living, dining and kitchen. Allowance should be considered for putting a second floor in the future with the same amount of unit and considering walls to be the standard height of 9 ft?
Assalamo alaykom Sir. I'm thankful for your lecture on depth of foundation. My clarification is, would I use the actual information from the fresh soil sample extracted right from the site?...meaning the angle of repose of the soil it actually creates, and the density without removing the moisture content of the soil sample ? Or imperative to bring the sample to a laboratory? Why I am raising this clarification is because there are construction sites the water is with in the range of the foundation depth. Shukran.
Rankine Formula is not always mandatory to follow for the footing embedment depth requirement it depends on the foundation overall stiffness & arrangement to resist the vertical & lateral loads acting onto the building for the determination of P in the Rankine Equation -- it should be correctly calculated relative to each Column Applied Axial Loads otherwise - the resulted required depth of footing would be so deep & not realistic ! correct understanding & application of the Rankine Formula should be acquired !
yes brother u can determine the angle of repose from the soil tipped by a truck, in this case as the soil is disturbed and is not in its natural condition, so the sample which should be used in the test will be remoulded sample and the angle of friction/angle of repose will be less than the actual.
Fill up a ten litre bucket with the soil and weigh. Then multiply the weight by 100. Or fill up a one litre water bottle with the soil and multiply by 1000. This will give you the weight per 1m3 ie the density.
Internal friction is very important indicator of the soil and is found on triaxial cutting samples. Soil has only two indicators cohesion and internal friction... your explanation needs improvement
Your angle of refuse explanation is not proper way. This is depend on the load of str. And this load created more presure to go to out side of fnd. That time this load make a angle and thats call angle of refuse.

Very precise and the simplest way of explanation. Thanks a lot brother.

How to calculate the total load(L.L+D.L) for a residential building?
That's a very finding solution to know the depth of foundation is clear.base on the sapmle formula to build that.
Very well explained, thank you!

Sir, in practice or at a particular site how to know the value for angle of Repose.
Dear sir, Kindly note.. IS means not Indian standard..SI means International standard.
He is resident in India , so he is making reference to Indian code.
Can't get enough of that 'DEPT..thh of foundation'
Excellent .. plz can we consedration this formula for thickness of footing or raft foundation in same time ? ..Thx
Sir thanks very much for your help. 🙏👍🕋🕋🕋🕋🕋🕋🕋🕋🕋.
GOd bless you.
INSHA ALLAA YOU WILL BE IN JANNA FARDAWSA .
Sir the unit of load p should be in Newton and not in kg / m2 because then it's pressure
Thanks for sharing the video. Please advise us Depth of Foundation and Depth of Footing - what is the difference?
Great job ! Sir
EXCELLENT BRATHER..... GOD BLESS YOU IMMENSELY
This vedio is very good for our knowledge. So please do next vedio about desing of slab and beams for building. Thank you so much sir.
What about stepped footings depth same as rectangle or any other method plzz replyy iam waiting sir...🙂
very helpful. thanks
Thanks a lot

Watching from Kenya, loving it.
thanks you so much sir. for your valuable informations
I enjoy your lectures
Great video plss keep it up
Excellent my brother .. we hope to make video about dimension of column for 1-8 story .. thx alot
Thank you, very good explained.
So useful information sir
I have learned somewhere that its soil bearing capacity upon density of soil
Can you please explain if the building having basement...this will apply or any other calculation to be added into it... please clear my doubts
how many bags of cement for 1.5 x 1 meters depth footing or how thick should be concrete cement for this footing
Thanks For Teaching Sir
Thank you Sir, very Nice lecture
Thank you!!
Good n clear teaching
Great schooling thanks!!!
I understad clearly bro. Thank u
Thank you Sir
Thank you sir for your video
GOOD, TEACHING ON CIVIL ENGINEER IDEA.

Great explanation. 👍
thank you too much
what will be the depth of footing pad for 3-6 storey residential building la?
Sir, what is the angle of friction unit ,can you explain plz....
Thank you Sir, helps a lot.
Explained nicely
but these values from the example of 1500kg / 1m2 are probably a wooden hut with a reed roof :-)
Greetings from Poland
Is it for each footing of the foundation or that with the most structural load?

You did not mention if there is filling at foundation site
Very good advice

How deep should a G+12 building with 300 metre square area should be in good soil condition?
Thanks sir 🙏
Thanks
How do we find the structure load on foundation
Sir what is the depth of foundation and length & breadth for single story house.
Building load must be in newton not in gram i think..
hello sir, can I know is this formula applicable for both deep and shallow foundation?
how u decide angle of refose is 25....exactly how to find accurate angle of repose
by direct shear box test you can determine the angle of repose or friction.
How to do shear
box text
Direct shear test send soil sample to any NABL civil lab, privet or PWD lab you can test
You have not told any yardstick to find angle theta... How to find density of soil.... How to find structure load..
thanks alot
Thank you teacher. Is it possible to receive a certificate

You test the soil

I’m not sure - does Rankins formula give you minimum depth of foundation? It wasn’t clear in this video.
What is meaning of bias
