  • In this video we show the replacement of the 1.3 HP DC powered motor in the 7qt proline and 8qt Commercial KitchenAid Mixers.
    There are several reasons to swap the motor, mostly relating to failed gears, a bad fan or a broken magnet that effects the hall sensor.
    We discuss the ins and outs of both diagnosing and replacing the motor to make sure your machine can live on without a pricey replacement unit!
    We Also accept shipments of mixers for repair, info on our website!

    Dear friend, thank you for the videos and the instructions. I'm writing from Greece. I have recently purchased the same silver lift bowl mixer. The noise when working was not even and i have opened only the front small door for the planetary movements. The grease on the gears was like glue. It was dryed and from white it was yellow. From the front cover through the holes i could see the multiple gears. I did'n touch that assembly, but i used a grease lithium sprey to grease them. The same thing with the big front gears and planetary system. On the motor writes made in Vietnam and to the external band made in the USA. Not fair. Maybe the Law gives the company the right to do so, but for me it is unfair. Thank you once more for the detailed videos. I couldn't fix it without your help.

    Fantastic video! Now time for super tech question. We have had one of these for many years. When using the pasta roller attachment, we would get slipping somewhere in the gears/transmission. The machine was well used, so I just decided to replace the whole motor unit (bought from a local appliance parts store, sorry). It worked great right away, and was much quieter. However, maybe the fourth time making pasta, my wife is reporting the same kind of motor slipping.
    I called Kitchen-Aid hoping they could tell me what part is most likely to fail. Maybe there's some kind of clutch designed to slip when the torque goes over a certain load. However, their response is to send the unit in to them for diagnosis.
    So now I turn to you. Do you have any suggestions for what might be causing this specific pasta roller slipping? I'm a technical and mechanical guy, so I have no problem getting in there and replacing specific gears. I also have the old motor as well, but I never bothered to take it apart to expose the gears and transmission. Thanks in advance!

    • @MrMixer316
      @MrMixer316  Před 9 měsíci

      Honestly there should never be slippage in the gears, if there is, it's either a complete loss of torque which could be related to the phase board or the field assembly or it could also be related to the pasta roller itself.

    • @bunnyadrian
      @bunnyadrian Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@MrMixer316 After taking a look inside the "non-serviceable" pasta roller, I think it might be that piece. The gear in there are very narrow, and inserting pasta dough forces the rollers apart, minimizing gear purchase.
      So I think I might have one bummer pasta roller and two good motors/gearsets (with one needing a lube).
      Thanks!

People are saying the bowl jumps off the pens or it just didn’t work. That’s a bummer to hear because I love the look at that bowl. It looks like it would be really great for loading flour into it. @@MrMixer316 Thank you for the reply! Here’s the whole story (I’ll try to keep it short). My KA mixer is the copper pearl, and I bought it from Sams or Costco about 6 years ago, and at the time, I thought it was the same as the custom copper metallic, but at a much better price (I think I paid $400, while the custom copper metallic on the KA website was around $800+ I think). I didn’t realize at the time that they were truly two different mixers. Mine the cheaper with AC motor, and the other with the HD DC motor. Had I realized this at the time, I would have bought the other one.. Since realizing the one I have, I’ve been trying to find the custom metallic copper with DC motor, (William Sonoma had one for a while, but not in the last few years), and I cannot find one anywhere, and no info on the KA website as to when they will be back in stock.. And I guess I should back up and say, I don’t ‘need’ to change the motor in mine, it still works fine, it just struggles (gets hot and has a burning plastic smell) when doing large bread/cookie/dumpling batches, and I would like to upgrade to the DC motor if possible. I’m assuming that if I have to swap out the lower housing with the custom metallic copper one, it wouldn’t be a perfect match and may be incredibly hard to find.. so, sounds like this really wouldn’t work well for me. Can you help? I bought a used KitchenAid pro 600 design with 575 watt with 6 quart glass bowl, lift style. The mixer and bowl are in mint condition. The bowl two side handles don't line up with pins. Off by about 1/4". Is there an adjustment somewhere? Is this the wrong bowl?

    I have a KitchenAid mixer just like this. But mine has become a lot louder! I noticed that the mixer you have disassembled doesn’t have a lot of grease in it. Neither does mine. Could that be why it’s so loud? Please help!

      Adding a small amount of grease in the main transmission housing with the two large gears and then around the external gear that the planetary rides along will often dampen some sound

      On many Proline 7 quart mixers, including mine, you can hear a click coming from the front when the mixer is running, usually 1 or 2 clicks every time the beater goes around the bowl. (It's not the beater hitting the bowl.) KitchenAid says the click is "normal," but it's annoying. Do you know what could be causing it and how to fix it or at least quieten it somewhat? Thanks in advance.

    • @MrMixer316
      @MrMixer316  Před 4 měsíci

      Based off of your model number your machine will be the 500 watt AC motor! The motor and transmission is built very similar however just in AC power. Are you having issues?

      @@MrMixer316 I havnt used it yet i only received it 2 Days ago. It was a gift to my mum, she wanted one all her life. I done research and found out the 7qt is the better one because it has the better motor. Im disappointed to learn it has an AC motor and only one year warranty. I wish now i bought an older pro line series but time will tell if the new motor is any good

      Used it today its noisy. I truly believe Kitchenaid deliberately confuse with their different model numbers etc so they sell more units. I thought i was getting a 5 year warranty no i know its only one year. Im angry that i bought this unit. I bought the biggest most expensive one i could find and i still ended up with a cheap model.
