- We had a scary incident today on a 9% decent on a very icy and snowy mountain! As our journey to the arctic circle continues through some of Norways most beautiful but also dangerous roads!

I am loving these vlogs! When I was younger I absolutely loved winter time. Where I live in the mountains in Virginia, we used to get tons of snow in winter. Now that I’m older and have had multiple traumas happen to my body that have caused arthritis, I despise being cold. But I’m loving the views! Chris your drone shots are always amazingly well done! Haven’t seen the part about sliding down the hill in the van yet but I know how scary that is cause I’ve done it myself many times in my life. Hopefully y’all are okay and not too traumatized by it. So excited for the rest of this trip, as always, living vicariously through the Inghams😝
In Norway we drive with winter tires with spikes, especially on those roads you are driving!! Thats why everyone are going so fast!
Chris…I know you’re not a newbie, but make sure all exhausts don’t get blocked by snow…carbon monoxide is deadly!!

Sarah I’m so with you on the subject of parking near water, I hate driving past water too. My biggest fear is my vehicle going into water with me in it too.

Hi guys, wow 😮amazing it was so lovely seeing the children sledging I used to love sledging when I was younger in the late 70’s early 80’s when we had lots of snow. It really scared me when you driving on those roads I couldn’t of done it I think your amazing driving in those conditions mind you like you say we aren’t used to it in the UK. I live in Michigan in the USA and our winters are like this every year... Its so pretty after a fresh snowfall ❤❤ But I hardly ever drive anywhere when the roads look like this... Too many crazies on the road who think they can still go 50 mph on icy, snowy roads.
It's a military type utility shovel. I have one. It's meant to help you while roughing it in the wilderness. Digging holes for a restroom, firepits. It should have a camping knife and wood saw in the handle too. I'd recommend a sturdy winter shovel and ice chipper. You can melt snow to drink but run it through a larq filter or equivalent first. Best trip ever

I’m with you Sarah I have a massive fear of ending up trapped in water I hate driving next to rivers etc big drops at side of road and definitely wouldn’t sleep the way Chris wanted to park
Chris... as a Canadian who literally has less snow than you, your shovel made me laugh. For safety reasons I would suggest getting a real snow shovel and just bungee strapping it to your ladder. Please drive safe my stomach was doing flip-flops the whole time worried about black ice for you guys.

Most people have winter tires with metall piggs on then 😊 so you are totally ok beeing safe with the chains

I am terrified of anything near water, I close my eyes going over bridges etc and I’m so much worse with my children in the car too 😭 no one else in my family is like this but I have such a fear of drowning and more so being trapped in a car under water and trying to get my children out 😭

I hate slippery roads:( glad you got down safe:) Norway is amazingly beautiful. GEIRANGER is å place you should look up one day, you dont regret it. It's the place that had a massive rock/maountain fall into the water and made a huge tsunami that ruined a lot of peoples Lifes :( many many years ago. It is a movie called BØLGEN it's Norwegian, but that is what happened.
You should have winter tyres on anyway. Didn't you do any research? Just finished watching The Wobble Boxers' caravan trip to the Arctic Circle over Christmas. They even took their cats with them.

i am curious, Brittain gets cold wether and snow like Norway does, but do you guys not change your tires? we have winter tiers and summer ones, and change between seasons. almoust a law that you have to. probably why they were confused of people going by with no chains on their tiers, they have winter tiers with bigger pattern and often spikes to have better grip on ice and snow. just wondereing because its cuite obvious for us Norwegians to do this, but is it something not every cold country does?

No, lady, the ice spikes are actually evidence your wan is poorly insulated. Watch the difference between old and modern houses and get aware of which ones got ice on them.

Yeah our tyres are all snow rated tyres. Your country is on another level. It's blown us away at every single turn! 🫶🏻❤️
There is a difference between snow rated tyres and proper winter tyres. You really do need winter tires for driving conditions like these. The all season snow rated tyres really don’t work well , when it goes below relatively low temperatures
In north Idaho when it snows like that you put tires with studs on them. It’s like small metal pins built into the rubber of the tire so they grip ice and snow. We leave them on from November until April!

im same with water ive had the fear since i was little still do aways worried the vehicle will go in water and wont be able to get out hated it wen my mum would try drive we was near pond her partner got out car to go pick something up and mum got in driver seat we all paniced tryed to get out mum locked doors lol my mum has never passed her test she was learning at time my mum gave up with learning to drive xxxxxxxxxx
All cars must have snow tryes on they have a certain depth and from December to March it's the law don't think alot of people have chains though .In Sweden we have to snow tyres on from October to march...Also watch out for Elk , Moose and Deer on the roads .

If you are concerned about the van possibly rolling or sliding when parked they do make wedges/blocks that you can put behind/in front of your wheels after you have parked that would make it nearly impossible for the van to roll. You can purchase them in pretty much any store that sells camping/caravan supplies. I have seen people in big motor homes that use them so I would assume they would work just as well for the van.
I absolutely loved you experiencing this snowfall. Beautiful. In the Yukon our snow is often piled to the side of the tracks higher than the trains.

I would have the same fears with the water plus I would not park to close due to having 2 toddlers either even though they are watched at all times the middle of the night would drive me crazy .
Why are you guys doing this? The roads are so dangerous your putting all of your lives at risk. I would have probably just booked a ski holiday in a hotel. Really love your Vlogs and your van travels but I think this one is way to much for your young family.

Accidents can happen in normal conditions when driving not only in the snow, if everyone thought like you they wouldn't go anywhere.
It’s there choice! If they want to go out and can travel then it’s up to them! + if it was very very dangerous then why would there be schools and places to park for the night be open so it’s not a big deal I have a motor home and it gets so warm so it’s not a big deal if they get cold then they can go in there motorhome!
They’re pretty smart, they did all the research and followed all legal procedures like they mentioned in a previous video. Accidents happen regardless.
As long as Chris is a experienced driver am sure they will be fine. You can't live life not going place just incase. It's like booking a holiday to florida and saybdo go it's far to hot. Chris and Sarah are well prepared for everything. Accidents happen everywhere x

This is our winter weather all the time in Canada…..a winter wonderland 🇨🇦 I also find it humorous that you call it sledging, we call it sledding with sleighs or sleds.
