Very unfortunate scenario but I hope you can take something from it in future when you’re doing a long car journey even if it’s just in the UK but you are going away for quite awhile get the car checked over hook it up to a computer make sure there isn’t any faults check the oils and other service items

When i was in italy our clutch went and we got stuck there forever... and then got stuck with a fiat 500 for 5 people for about 2 weeks. We then managed to get back home just before the bridge collapsed in genova!
Oil should be changed every 3000 miles

eli mc the government is allowing travel but they’ve also listed certain places which should be for essential travel only. On that list is Spain and Portugal so they should’ve definitely avoided Spain, their travel is not essential.
This is going to be around for a very long time, theres nothing wrong with it as long as they are following guidelines. They stay to themselves for the most part.
Gina and QJ Brown however there are still rising cases in France and since the inghams have left Scotland there has been rising cases in Aberdeen which is where they were! It’s so irresponsible to go right now!

Even after all the difficulties 're the car, Sarah remained so bright and positive. One day you will look back on this and laugh about it. What lovely memories and stories you will have to tell. 😊

Ok can everyone stop being so rude to them. 1. They are obviously going to go slow on the scooters, stop telling them what’s wrong and what’s right. 2. They are not car mechanics so stop telling them to “just do this “. 3. They are themselves and you aren’t them, they can parent anyway they want, they can do what they want. Stop judging them.

When we broke down in Spain our breakdown cover sent us a new car out and arranged for our car to be taken back to the U.K. so we could continue our holiday. We had a large 10 seater 4x4.
Sometimes in life it doesn't matter where you are and what you are doing just as long as you are with those that you love and make you smile. We get so busy in our lives that sometimes it's good just to stop and appreciate everyone and everything around you. Glad you all are making the most out of even the tough situations. You can get this little gadget for you car called ‘carista’ it plugs in just under your steering wheel and links to your phone to which it then checks the whole car and tells you exactly what is wrong with the car. Thankful everyone is safe and off the road while the car is being fixed! Our transmission went out on us this week, going up the hills of West Virginia , we were able to pull off in a Church empty parking lot to wait for the tow truck. Friends came to pick us up, and family from another State to take us to the dealership. Things could always be worse, Izzy is so smart and wise for her age! Fingers crossed your car gets fixed soon!

The 4-6 litres of oil would be if the oil was being drained and changed with a new filter. For top ups a 1l bottle will suffice but dont just throw the whole bottle in. Put a small amount in, check the dipstick, add more if neccessary, check dipstick again until oil is at max line.
Who doesn't check oil before they go travelling?
I thought the same thing, why didn’t they use the dipstick and not just go by the dash. You put a little in check it put some more in check it - agreed. Now I feel like I’m mad at Chris for messing up their time. Why would he do that? Well it sucks for them, though I do feel bad for the family.
@@kelli-kell6459 for oil, never trust a sensor. Ive had it on the work vans where it says the oil level is ok but theres nothing on the dipstick

What a story one time on the way to my aunties funeral about five minutes away we heard some cracklings and brushed it of as the road being bumpy but then it got louder keep in mind there was no hard shoulder but luckily the was a turn of for a garage so we parked before that on something like a hard shoulder and checked what happened the whole of the tire was ripped later found out that it had popped on a rock we hadn’t noticed and the half the tire was hanging of we then obviously called the breakdown service they said it would be 10-45 minutes btw we also had are warning lights on so we say ourself a down on a small patch of grass a bit away of the side of the road thank god and started making daisy chains anyway three hours later they come and change the tire when we were about to set back if we realised the battery had run out after having the lights and engine on for 3 hours straight so the guy came back out of his car and changed it some of you may know if you get your battery changed you have to keep your cat on or it won’t work so in short we missed the funeral of my dads closest sister I didn’t really know her but o well I guess

Similar thing happened to me but when i was coming home from our camping trip, we were maybe about half hour from home and our campers tire was already a little flat but it started to tear up when we were driving so we had to pull over bc we had no tire but luckily we had a spare tire.

you do realise when you come back to the UK you can’t use electric scooters unless your 16 or over and have a permit !! so what are you gonna do with them then ? waste of money really.

Maybe it could be contaminated fuel! My parents had a very similar thing and had to have the fuel sucked out and re filled also they changed the filter and such and it worked like a dream!
Hopefully the car is fixed soon so the girls can get home in time for school in September
Most important of course is that you are all safe. This will just become part of the story of your adventure you tell for years to come. No doubt you and the kids will always remember this holiday! You have a great attitude about it all and that’s half the battle. Enjoy the rest of your trip❤️

My dads car recently went faulty and keeps loosing power. They eventually found it was something wrong with a part and it was blowing the circuits. Car can only get to 30/35 miles per hour till the garage can order in the new part. Not as tragic as your problem.

Another genuine question; to people in the UK get their oil changed?? Here in the US, it’s recommended to change every 5,000 miles. My vehicle has a oil change light that gets reset when the oil is changed &’then it tells me when it’s time for another one. Curious if you all get oil changes or?? I wasn’t sure if it was different there 😊
Yes you're definitely meant to get your oil changed in the UK
You're meant to have a service once a year and that will include a full oil change

This reminds me of a few weeks ago when my dads car broke down and died after 12 years of running, I was at my mum’s when it happened and my dad phoned me up at 10pm to say he’d broken down and couldn’t get hold of anyone including the AA or RAC but he eventually got hold of them and got home but he was telling me that he was driving along the motorway and the car started struggling and then after some traffic he sped up and the car stuttered more and just cut out and that was it 😢💖 xx 😘 MWAH 💋
Can you hire a rental car with a towball? Then you could drive to Valencia and go to a nice caravan park. Although, you're saving a lot of money by staying there free! Lol

Oh my word hope you get sorted soon. My uncle goes to Spain every year from January to about April with their caravan and they have a Land Rover. They broke down on their way home in March (came home early because of Lockdown) and was stuck in a Spanish town for 2 weeks waiting for a part. They actually really enjoyed staying in a Spanish town with no tourists, they got to know everyone. You’re all safe that’s the main thing. 👍🏻👍🏻xx

Oh no, you poor things. Something similar happened to us on our honeymoon. We were in our Mazda Bongo (which is similar to a campervan), driving through the Alps and the brakes failed, of all places. The Bongo would take weeks to fix as it is a japanese car. We ended up in so many weird and wonderful places and was such an adventure. I will always remember One hotel that put us up, these 2 elderly ladies that worked there, in broken english offered to drive us to a local pizzeria and told us to ring when we had finished. We made so many memories, and yes was stressful to begin with but we have plenty of funny stories that come from it. And then about 2 months after we arrived home our Bongo was shipped over. Enjoy, and see it as a huge adventure, as long as you are all together you will be fine.

OMG. I was on the way to my holiday a week ago and our car broke down on the motorway as well. It was really hot for us too. But for us there wasn’t a barrier and we just had to stand and wait there for 4 hours!!!!! And I’m only 12. I had my 4 year old brother 8 year old brother mum dad and my puppy. It was horrible. 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️

We had a problem 2 years ago when we went to wales, (I'm in the uk) and we were in the middle if no where and it took a year to sort it all out and in the end we had to get a new one, the fuel injectors were playing up and wouldn't work. It was the most terrifying moment of my life as we nearly got in a crash. I hope your all alright as I do know what it's like ❤xx
Omg I had that happen to me when I came back from Orlando I had left my light on and the battery was flat, we got a jump start but the car was not right it ran but very slow, I stop leaving the car to run then started again and still the same, so had to stop again, someone came over and asked if we were ok, i told what had happened and he said it was the computer in the car it hadn't reloaded yet and that's why the car was being so slow. As we drove home the car got better and better. The next day the car was back to normal it was a volvo.
I hope you get yours fixed soon and you can carry on your way back on your trip.
