Just reading through the crazy amount of comments saying IF Chris flew home he would have to self isolate for 14 days. Please do your research before commenting. We are not stupid or ignorant adults. We are desperately trying to resolve a bad situation we have been placed in through no fault of our own. We have spoken directly to the foreign office, the UK Embassy in London and the UK Coronavirus task force directly ourselves on the phone. The 14 day isolation does not apply if one of us is to enter the country and then immediately leave. It only applies if we are to enter the country and then stay. We would then have to self isolate ourselves. This is advice direct from the UK government that we have been given ourselves. Please do not comment ridiculous things about us being ignorant etc. Because that is far from what we are as people. We always do our research and we know the rules. Direct from the people that make the rules. If you want to comment help and advice then at least do your research to make sure what you’re posting is actually correct. 🤦🏻♀️

Just rent a car, cut your trip a bit short, go home and buy another car and finish your trip another time.
Not a lot of places, here in the USA, dont let you pull caravans with a rental policy. Obviously all places are different but that might be an issue

I think it’s a sign. It’s not the safest to travel right more especially since you will have to quarantine anyway. Why don’t you come back get a new car sorted once you’ve quarantined and then carry on travelling. If you return to the UK Chris you will have to quarantine for two weeks regardless!

The rules on home quarantine are incredibly strict - you arent even allowed to leave the house for exercise. It seems unfeasible for Chris to return to the UK and abide by the rules. Please do not endanger other people and break the rules for the sake of a holiday, you have already been much luckier than most in going away.
Rules? No one is strict here as no 2 enforces it. Look at Israel they do daily checks by phone and drones thst people are keeping quarantine laws. They even track your phone.
And they do daily checks by calling you and seeing if your quarantined

If you come home you have to quarantine for two weeks. You can't just come home to fix the current situation your in and then fly back. Government guidelines apply to EVERYONE even if you find yourself in a situation like this. You can't break those rules to save your family holiday!!

But them comming back and breaking the rules could start it all over again. I get it's not gone but all it takes is for one person then the next then the next ect. How do you go driving around Europe claiming #vanlife and not have your vehicle checked beforehand, especially pulling a caravan!?
We had a full service done on the car before we travelled. This could not have been predicted

Range Rovers/Land Rovers are NOTORIOUSLY crappy cars, despite their price. Their engines are super bad and break all the time

Our Land Rover was an 02 plate and was very reliable doing 20,000 miles a year, since we have bought a Volvo which has been much less reliable, so we will be changing to a Land Rover discovery, in a couple of months.

Hi Sarah! The thing you bought at the grocery store is something we eat in Terceira Azores Portugal. It’s called tremos and it’s actually not pickled it’s salted in water. If yours came with a shell then you aren’t supposed to eat the shell. You only eat the part inside 😊

Personally I recommend that you ask the garage to store your caravan inside as there was plenty of room with those tractors and all fly home. You need to isolate yourselves for 2 weeks. After those 2 weeks buy another car and Chris drives back to collect the caravan.

In the late 1960's a similar situation happened to my family. We were headed out, 2 week vacation. Destination 1800 miles away. (USA) We got about 700 miles from home. Our motorhome blew the engine. My father spent the next 10 days under the motorhome fixing it with a local garage we were parked by. It is one of the best memories I have. Mom took us kids down to local stores, bought us some crayons and coloring books. We had lunch on the sidewalk with a card table and chairs. What an adventure! Your making the best of it...and your kids will have a great memories...believe me!!!!!! God Bless...thanks

i think you’re best off hiring a car to get home and cut the trip short. I’m a big believer in things happening for a reason and especially with the pandemic I think it’s best if you head home. of course it’s upsetting but think of all. amazing memories you already have made. :)

I hope you‘ll find a solution guys but pls never touch a butterfly! The butterflies have scales on their wings. And if they get touched, then these scales fall of an the butterfly can‘t fly anymore and has to die because of starwing or beeing eaten by another animal😭 I know you planned this trip a long time but maybe it‘s best to return home and do this trip another time💕 I love you so so much Inghamfamily❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You cracked the engine block because you didn’t put oil in. It will happen to any vehicle that you don’t look after, so it’s not just land rover. I guess the oil doesn’t seem so expensive now! Hopefully you look after your next vehicle better.

When we had a caravan we had a ford ranger. Awesome car/truck it was!! We moved to motorhomes so ended up selling it but maybe you should look at something like that 😁x
If you're flying back to the UK from Spain atm you will have to isolate, I don't know how it works if you're flying back but I can't imagine it would go down too well, since Boris and Spain are at wars with each other at the moment. Best of luck figuring something out. If it was me, I'd hire a car. It wouldn't be a waste of money at all if it means you can continue your incredible journey as a family!

Hi my husband is Portuguese and where he comes from these are called tromosos ( Portuguese ), they are lovely if you get it right, you need to take the skin off, you sort of bite the outer skin and squeeze the inside out and throw the skin away, it’s like a sort of nut, these are delicious sometimes they are slightly salty x

The same thing happened to me on the summer of 2018 . We were driving to the boat to go back home when are car broke down on the motor way .it got towed to the service station but it was too expensive to fix (we had to buy a new engine I think) so we bought a new car when we got home .we had to rent a car for the rest of the journey to the boat then my mum has to stay another night in France to take the the rental car back.then take a flight back home .it was stressful for my parents but it worked out in the end .some good news will happen stay strong xxx Sophie
Wow what a nightmare. I don't know what I'd do in that situation. How glad are you that you got the scooters a few days before to make travelling to shops and the café a little easier! Plus having that space to scoot around and entertain the girls. I hope you find a way. You will. As usual, ignore everyone's silly comments. You're well within the rules and your rights to travel as its your choice. These are actually moments you remember when you're older and the girls will see it as a fun time full of memories. How sad was it that esme tried saving the butterfly and it died 😔 so sad.

you can get a company to drive from england to where you are to pick up the car and bring it back. my dad knows people who do that, they drive to europe to pick up broken down cars and bring them back. it’s expensive but they do do it.
I don't know why everyone has such a strong opinion on their situation. They are doing the best that they can in an extremely difficult scenario. If chris does have to come back then I'm sure it will be an exception as he has a stranded family!

Tow to a caravan site, all fly home. Pay couple of weeks to stay on site whilst quarantining at home. Drive Chris’s car to campsite, collect caravan and resume holiday.

There are plenty of garages that sell English driving cars, I lived in Germany and bought 2 cars out there and both were right hand driving side cars.

carol stening I’m the one caring for sick people with contacts that are still on oxygen after months, travelling from country to country is not sensible or advised by the government... thanks for pointing out the 4 children, if the 2 adults get covid WHO do you think will take care of the said kids?
