It might help people also to understand why a plateau happens. Fat cells simply don't like to lose volume, so when a certain amount of fat is lost, the cells replace it with water in order to stay the same size. This is a temporary measure to resist shrinking in size. During this time your weight will stay the same on the scales, but if you just keep on track, you will continue to lose fat. Eventually the cells accept the process and release that water, which is when you will suddenly see a relatively big drop down on the scales. So if you hit a plateau, realize it's a measure of how successful your efforts have been - you are actually changing your body at a cellular level. Keep going, and when the fat cells let that replacement water go you'll see a nice loss on the scales. Tough love those little buggers!

I’m at a plateau and was getting discouraged but finally decide to choose joy where I’m at for awhile and then try to move on! I’m down 72 pounds! 9 or 10 more to go! Loved this video! ❤

  • @Neesha242

I’ve been stuck for a year in 6 months 😢… I gained all 32lbs back. My body just couldn’t lose anymore weight. I must have damaged my metabolism

  • @redeye3843

I really hate plateau, it's so discouraging... I've been in so many failed weight loss journey, cause i tend to stop doing it after hitting plateau

I started plateauing right after I lost 9 pounds, and people started complementing me on my weight loss. Not sure if it’s connected, but it’s really frustrating me! I put back on 2 pounds, but keeping at it, and keeping my fingers crossed.

I have gained weight back to my original plateau of 45 pounds lost which is not bad but not where I want to be. I joined WW last month and so far have realized that I really need to get back to sticking to portion sizes and I've also realized that calorie counting is easier for me but I have four more months left in my subscription. lol My main issue is my system can't tolerate fake sugar. I tried the skinny syrup for my coffee and while it wasn't awful, it didn't taste as good as Hershey's and it gave me a stomach ache and a headache which isn't ideal. It's discouraging which makes me just want to eat and eat (which I have done today sigh) BUT tomorrow is a brand new day! Great video! Thank you for sharing your encouragement!

Thank you, Nikki! This video was so timely for me and some great reminders. I will keep working the plan and doing what I can. I think I need to review my water intake. Thank you for sharing!

Good suggestions! You're absolutely spot on. Clothes will tell ya things that the scales don't, for sure. That's one of my favorite ways to figure out what's going on. I don't do pictures, but kinda wish I had.

Wonderful video Nikki. I've finally decided that, even though I'm still 8 pounds form the goal I set, this is where my body wants to be. And it's okay. Videos like these help with my mindset and acceptance. Thank you!

Your timing with this video was perfect! After a .5 gain I was pouting. Not only was it silly, it’s only .5, but I looked back at my week and realized how right you are about water. It really does make a big difference. To all my coffee and tea lovers out there…don’t forget your pal H2O 👍🏻

Great video girl!! I also plateaued when I started lifting weights...how rude. I was gaining muscle mass slowly and I know muscle weighs more but come on. So, I kept my diet the same and started a 16/8 fast. I like to snack in the evening so I end my fast at 8:45pm and start eating again at 12:45pm, sounds hard but it really isn't. I've not changed my eating at all, I still focus on high protein to keep and build muscle mass. I've started this about 2 weeks ago and finally broke my plateau and lost 7lbs. unbelievable, I'm going to do this for another week and take a small break and repeat. It keeps the body guessing. Thought I would share, nothing was working for 6 months until this. Good Luck everyone and never give up!!!❤

Love the something new. My husband bought a sauna/ice bath. I’m excited to see if it helps with weight loss at all. Also want to pick up weight lifting/training to build strength and endurance. I love to do physical activities just feel like I’m in a rut because it’s the 282993 month of winter here in Michigan 🤪

I hit a plataue with WW for MONTHS! I watched to counting macros, which is super value since I still didn't know what nutrients I was eating on WW. I use macrofactor as my app, and it connects to my fitbit, and switches up my calories/macros based on my progress, or lack of progress. After 5 months I am FINALLY making progress again! I also switched from using the slay app to fitbod. I felt like I did everything on the slay app and it had gotten me so far but I needed to switch things up again. These things have seriously finally helped me get down to almost my goal weight (5.8 lbs left!)
