    The point to not let the focus on little girl from the start to make believe the audience that Varun was indeed doing all this for the finance but he wasn't and was doing for the kid. Also, a great point made by Achara about though he doesn't "express" emotions he is the most emotional person- the point director wanted to convey

    Varun isn't simply a doctor, he is a doctor who works in the army, so it's just not about that one girl to him. Secondly, he knows he can't expect others to feel the same way as he feels, that's why he is marrying her even after he knows that she is acting selfish. It's easy to judge as a third person, but being in that situation, we will do the samething that the lead actress and her family did! As hard as it to accept it.. it's a fact.. atleast in India..

    • @shamsunnahar4335
      @shamsunnahar4335 Před rokem +11

      I don’t think the point is that she was being selfish. It's about talking and acting big. One shouldn’t talk and act big if they can't live up to their own words. It's hypocritical. That's why Varun marrying her is infuriating! A good person like him shouldn’t be with someone so hypocritical. But the reality is, there are many people who are genuinely good but they end up with hypocrites like her. It's really unfortunate.

      @@shamsunnahar4335 that's exactly the point OP commenter meant to convey...irl everyone says big and comforting words to support a victim but when a situation like these happens Most people tends to be selfish, in your words "hypocritical" .. it's called human nature. 💀💀and as wrong as it sounds you can't blame them either cuz no one would play the hero role like in movies cuz lives are at stakes and they want their loved one to be safe and people will turn selfish... If this situation happened to you.. you'd do the same... We can all criticize and talk big until we start to experience it first hand... Rarely people like Varun exists irl. 😔

    • @shamsunnahar4335
      @shamsunnahar4335 Před rokem +7

      @@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos you definitely didn’t get my point. Just because it’s a common characteristic in people and they tend to become selfish when it comes to their nearest and dearest ones doesn’t mean this selfishness cannot be or even should not be criticized. And how can you tell that I'd do the same thing in a similar scenario? You don't know me so don't try to act as if you know what I would do in a similar scenario. In real life, MANY people like Varun exists. So as long as they exist, these hypocritical people who talk big but can't act like it will be and ALWAYS SHOULD BE criticized. And I can blame them cuz there are many people who talk big but also act like it unlike these hypocrites. The point is, you shouldn’t talk big if you can't act like it when you're on the spot.

    That one girl left behind scene was added to emphasize more on Varun's character. The Director tried to portray that Varun wouldn't compromise on his moral values at any cost and he was shown as a completely selfless person as his fiancee tries to stop him in the climax scene & tells him that she wanted to marry him and if he will go back to rescue than he will be surely killed but Varun still decides to rescue that left over child. But yeah this scene could have been avoided as Jaby said or the Army people doing the remaining part would have been more realistic & logical like Achara said.

    Hey Jaby really enjoyed your reaction n that was a really good review as well..just for some information, as you noted it was a very risky element to have the main lead that emotionless n grounded but there is more to it because Sivakarthikeyan is not just another actor. He is totally opposite to "Varun"...talking to him him for 2 min would literally be like the comedy aspect of this movie.....if you can, then give his others movie s n interviews a watch you will have a great time...all his movies are really a treat like this but you won't be able to tell if he is the same guy who played Varun..when Varun is all emotionless SK struggled to keep his calm n not break into laughs or not say any counters like a stand up comedian that he always does..still Nelson managed to pull it off
    You should check the interviews related to Doctor trust me you will love this more after knowing what Nelson DilipKumar, Sivakarthikeyan and Anirudh (music director), the trio's bond n the whole cast like Reddin Kingsley and the whole crew like Nelson's ADs are really like n how this whole film was shot

    The ending where he becomes a superhero is made so that the people at c-sector of Tamil audience.
    A sector-city
    B sector- towns and city
    C- Villages
    The people from villages prefer a heroic end than a realistic one as that has a higher pull to theaters than a realistic one. EG: Ratsasan being an A-sector movie led to it being lower pull in cinemas.
    Also a lot of humour is lost in translation.

      Personally, Im ok with the climax, but like you said, I agree that if he succeeds in saving the last girl, him dying makes sense.
      That's because I see this argument about good people becoming selfish, and theres zero chance. Due to that mentality no one is ready, so him dying will be inspirational to others.
      I was imagining the climax like this. Chinnu mentions there's 1 more girl missing, his fiancée advise him not to , but he goes (until this point its the same) after that he gets captured, the henchmen about to kill the girl but he saves her. In verge of saving her he gets badly injured, not in a position to defend himself, due to which Terry gets upper hand and subdues him so he can watch the girl die. Then the CO arrives, kills them saves the girl. He tries to save Varun, but he succumbs to death. They pay him respect in his funeral and posthumously awards him medal to his family. Realizing her selfishness, his fiancée opens a NGO years later to aid the victims of human trafficking and remained unmarried (usually not the case they would rather move on their life, but I try to be optimistic)

    Thanks, Jaby and Achara. After watching a few minutes of your review, I realized the movie was worth a watch. So I watched it. And it was different...different good, better than expected. Even more surprising than the amazing cast was the staid and reserved performance by Sivakarthikeyan. It was like watching Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable immediately after watching his Die Hard series.
    Oh, and bits of the theme music were somehow reminiscent of one of my favourite Hindi movies from the 1980s, 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron'. Not sure if you guys have watched it before, but I'd certainly recommend it, having watched it over and over and enjoying every scene for its physical comedy, its dialogues and the scheming yet obvious political machinations.

    Though he's potrayed as emotionless doctor and just wanna save live but he cares all life d same. doesn't matter if he's terrorists or anyone.
    He cared.for the lil girl @ padmini s niece.. ( archana' s real daughter mom combo) Coz she was the first one connected emotionally to varun.
    Varun really liked Padmini. That's y like he.really sticked to his first love.
    No..he Already arranged a deal with the captain before he make..the final approach n blast...
    Vinay n the twins really did well...I like Vinay s acting of villain..usually he does like a chocolate boy role.
    Redin Kingsley n Yogi Babu...were so good....
    Priyanka Mohan was just a icing on the cake..but guys he's doing another movie with her...Don....
    And this is the best music BGM and now it's my ringtone....Anirudh..nailed it.

    Nelson Dilip Kumar was addressed as wesanderson in one of his friends tweet and Nelson was like ik i am not that that much valued and when his movie comes out people was able to recognise that wes Anderson thing . Epseically Americans did.
    And the last bit was little annoying because of the commercial needs of a films profit and business.
    Like how marvel ,dc and other movies works

    Hi Jaby and acharya. Answering ur query why didn't the hero killed the villain, since he is playing a doctor character in this movie, basically doctor's responsibility is to save people from danger not to kill. If u noticed from the beginning, the hero didnt kill anybody, he just executed his plan by shooting knee, cutting finger at times whereas he didn't kill anyone since he is a doctor which means saviour. Hope u both got Director's view.

    With Priyanka Mohan in this movie, I can't help it but get Nani's Gang Leader vibes in this movie. You know with the family going on a mission. And hero and the heroin love development throughout the story. The difference is in Gang Leader, Pencil would go crushing all around on Priya, who has cold attitude. But in this movie, Padmini slowly develope love towards Varun, who has cold attitude. Plus Chellamma video song is quite similar to Butta Bomma and Rowdy Baby video song.
    P/S : Happy belated birthday Priyanka Mohan.
