  • News from the HEADquarter audio workshop with little tips for assembling the Pontus lid and further information. The assembling of all Denafrips devices and the lid are the same ( except Ares 2 ), so this tweak rules at other devices too.

    Thank you for all your helpful information. I will be ordering my Pontus II next week and will be definitely doing your tweaks when it arrives. I am a structural engineer so I understand the stresses in materials caused by slight misfits and connections. I enjoy all your videos. Thanks again.

    I have about 100 hours on the DAC. The adjustments made an improvement in imaging and depth. I also discovered another issue with the cover fitting into the front panel, when I removed it to check the clip on the rear clearance. There is raised metal on the front right corner due to such a tight fit and probably some stress applied to fit the cover into the front panel for closure. I will address this later, running out of time. Thanks again for your tips.

    Try sealing the entire board with military grade sealant to dampen shield and transfer heat. Eliminate RFI and EMI… resonance will be completely removed.

  • @vagk
    @vagk Před 3 lety +1

    hi mike i watched your videos, you talk a lot about resonance tricks inside the device as it is great for your system. So I would ask you why do you do this tuning at all when you use Nordost Sort Cone in your system? That does not make sense to me 😏

    • @headquarteraudio5388
      @headquarteraudio5388  Před 3 lety

      Hi, thanks for this comment, I can make something clear here: With the Sortkones, Nordost has the philosophy to keep the resonances in the device. (but not dampen or dissipate) Depending on the choice of Sortkone, more or less and then there is also the material response of the respective SK (bronze etc.) and the placement. If the device used is then very heavily damped in itself, it of course reacts little or not at all to the SK. A device that I have tuned or, in my opinion, has been built by someone with ears shows the effect of the SK very clearly, for example the effect of a Q-Point too (resonance harmonization) Ok? :) Cheers Mike

      Hi, noooo :) this is not a car wheel :) ... with feeling and fingertips, just a little more with the bass. Always crosswise and not one screw fully and then crosswise the next, but crosswise gradually all evenly. Please watch my Linton video, I will say something about it. Cheers Mike

    • @headquarteraudio5388
      @headquarteraudio5388  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, this has nothing to do with bad QC, it affects all brands. There are solutions that are less sensitive, others make it worse. I always recommend loosening the screws on new devices in order to loosen any tension that may have arisen.
