The Bass Groove in this video is Loosely based on the bass style of Motown bass player James Jameson and Memphis’ Stax Record bass player Donald “Duck” Dunn Soulful bass playing.
It is played in C at 102 bpm (beat per minute)
The form/chorus is played twice for this video; first, we establish the main groove, and on the second chorus, upper register embellishments are added in for variety. The scale used for playing this groove is mostly the major pentatonic scale, except for the F note which is used during the intro pickup, the turnaround, and the ending phrase.
The major pentatonic scale consists of the following notes;
C D E G A.
For the second half of the video, you have the backing track WITHOUT the bass guitar.
Included at the bottom, the synched chart with the tabs, so you can follow and
play along with the backing track.
The backing track was made to sound like the Motown sound of the 60s.
For the backing track, I used;
Bass: Fender Road Worn P-Bass with a Rosewood Block Inlay Jaguar Neck.
Drums: Toontrack EZ-Drummer 2 - Southern Soul EZX for Drums
Guitar: Fender Stratocaster guitar with Toontrack EZ- Mix for amp simulator.
Keys: Toontrack Ez-Keys for the Wurlitzer
Organ: Digidesign DB3 for the B3 Organ

Nice groove!
Backing track without Bass!!! Good!!!
Nice, very similar to Duck Dunn's line on "She Caught The Katy" which is a fun song to learn.
More Stax I suppose...but very good. One of my favourite bass channel!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great. Reminds me both Jamerson and Sheff.
