In November 2021 I returned to Montpellier, the southern city where I lived during my high school years.
Viewers who had visited the city more than a decade ago were as surprised as I was to see the "new and improved Montpellier."
A major University town in France, lively Montpellier attracts an increasing number of visitors (and new residents!) each year. The 7th French city, it is just a little over 1000 years old, yet a lot has happened during its tumultuous history.
Join me as we explore “l’Ecusson,” the heart of the old town, a favorite neighborhood on a stroll blending, like always, the past and the present.

Very much to enjoy, i jusyt love all of your video`s and your cultural and historic knowledge and information! I have allway`s loved France very much especially the city of Paris, and as matter of fact im my early years i went for vacation to Anduze and visited the pont du Gard and ofcourse the area and little town`s around Anduze and also Nimes. I do love all of France but most of all i love the Provence area. Thank you again.
Bonjour! Thank you for an excellent video! Montpellier looks perfect for us. We are looking for a moderate summer climate area, with a plaza lifestyle, and near good healthcare (my wife has MS and is a cancer survivor). We walk, and ride, so public transportation is required. I am a retired American educator (but I still teach online). We helped a new school open in Lviv, then spent 6 weeks in Krakow; we're in Tallinn for a month before heading back to Oregon. My wife and I hope to visit France after the Olympics. We plan to sell our Portland condo and then move to France. We will rent so we can travel throughout Europe, and perhaps help Ukraine rebuild after the war ends. There are several significant advantages to living in France: climate, healthcare, culture, and infrastructure. Merci! Thanks again! Dean and Cindy.
Thank you for sharing your plans Dean. Given your specific healthcare needs, I would look long and hard at medical services before you choose a spot in France. The French healthcare system is in crisis and care (both general practitioners and specialists) availability varies greatly. "Medical deserts" sadly, are not just in remote places anymore. Cities are impacted too. Bonne chance!

@@francewithvero Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it. The more I learn the more I am convinced that Cindy and I must visit many areas to get a better "feel" for the city and its neighborhoods. The challenge is how to set up a Long Stay Visa and still visit several regions. I thought the LSV required one address. Much to process. Merci! Dean & Cindy
