The best wild cards competed in 2017... Placing one in the top 10, one in the top 5 and one became the 2nd finalist. In 2018 only Venezuela made it to the top 3, while the other 3 didn´t survive the first cut.
Venezuela should've made the Top 20 outright from the Americas group rather than being a wildcard. She's an even stronger candidate than all contestants from Europe and some contestants who are actually called in from the Americas group that year. I will never understand how U.S.A. and Australia got the wildcard spots given their controversy that same year. Their spots should've went to some countries from Africa and Asia instead.

And those selected 15 are those candidates who made their the judges wow. Some candidates do not UNDERSTAND that this one on one screening interview is to measure THEIR calibre.
