    FUN FACT: The Spanish translator here has been translating Spanish for Miss Universe delegates since 1985! I remember he translated the winning answers of Barbara Miss Universe 1986, Alicia Miss Universe 1996, Dayana Miss Universe 2008, Stefania Miss Universe 2009 and even now for Gabriela Miss Universe 2014! He also translated most of the other Spanish speaking winners like Amelia Miss Universe 2003 and Paulina Miss Universe 2014 just to name a few. He hasn’t appeared anymore since IMG took over.

    • @user-vl1gl6cs3j
      @user-vl1gl6cs3j Před 4 lety +6

      It's actually started with venus raj, as the "top placers" followed such as shamcey supsup, janine tugonon, etc.... until the crowns were taken by pia, lose with maxine and rachel but won again with catriona :) hope gazini win this time for a back to back!!! 🙌🙏

    • @nathanielfamisan1968
      @nathanielfamisan1968 Před 4 lety +6

      @@user-vl1gl6cs3j 림중진 But with Venus and Shamcey, they were overshadowed by their other competitors by the time of Top 5. Yes, Venus was the sparkplug for the Philippines' renaissance in Miss Universe, but she wasn't able to sustain her momentum during the final round, and there were also stronger candidates than Shamcey during her time, so looking at them both, I consider the Philippines back then as not yet the dangerous threat it is now in Miss Universe because it had just returned in the semifinals after not having placed in the 2000s.
      With Janine, she was clearly robbed but Australia also placed in the Top 5, so there is, after all, an Eastern Hemisphere representation in the final round. With Ariella, it was clear that people actually started to pay attention to how Philippines does perform, even live audiences from countries not known to watch pageants like Russia (being hosts in 2013) when the Latinas were already peaking during the late Trump MUO ownership era.
      And it's tougher to get a back-to-back Miss Universe win nowadays unlike when Venezuela did back in 2009, when there was no Asian in the Top 15. There are more contestants nowadays, countries from Africa and Asia are now giving the Americas a tough competition leading up to the finals, and I think Miss Universe nowadays is being riskier in actually showcasing more of the candidates' national cultures and causes than in the past, not to mention how the Q&A rounds have become increasingly gauged towards contemporary issues domestically and globally.

      Nope. Her answer was dissapointing. By responding to the question: "What can be done about the lack of jobs for young people starting their careers around the world?" She basically replied that education was the key to overcome the lack of jobs for this kind of people. I think someone who wants to start their careers it is educated or enough educated. I think solving the lack of jobs for graduates needs different solutions and probably there's no a perfect way to solve it. I know this lady is not a politician but she probably could have delivered a more decent answer than the one she gave. On other hand, she used a cliche and well known answer. We all need education, education and more education. The same and old term phrase others ladies have used in the past.

    This is perhaps the very video that a lot of Miss Universe candidates nowadays study intensely on how to win the crown by the Final 5 onwards in terms of balancing both composure and accuracy when responding in the Q&A. I think Venezuela's confidence outright beat the other candidates in that round (which I think, also translated to Gabriela's long, effective reign as a titleholder afterwards), but imho, only the Philippines answered any of those actual questions straightforward. Had she been more composed, Ariela could've made history that year (since the Philippines had a 40-year title drought that time) as the first semifinalist not chosen by any of the judges (she was a fanvote recipient) to actually win Miss Universe.
