    Rule number one: Miss South Africa repeated the question and then gave her answer straight to the point. She also repeatedly mentioned “and that is what we need to teach the young girls”. It’s very important to repeat question as answer because it makes the listener understands you emphasizing on the topic. And of course, she spoke with high level of confidence. The other two gave good answers too but you could hear them scattering looking for filler words. Those tiny, little pauses are what make them different. And that is why SA won. She knew her answer right away because she lived it.

Puerto Rico and Mexico answered well, too, but their answers are not the most urgent, since the world nowadays has focused so much on female leaderships. It's a good example, actually, for contestants to choose their answers carefully based on what could grabs most attention from the judge. What is the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today?
    South Africa:
    I think the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. it’s something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don’t want to, but because of what society has labeled women to be. I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity and that is what we should be teaching these young girls to take up space. Nothing is more important than taking up space in society and cementing yourself.

We see so many perfection in social media, perfect lives, perfect bodies, perfect faces, perfect relationships. Nothing is that real. We have to teach them that who they are is already amazing, who they are is already worth it, because what they really are is not what it looks like, it’s what they feel, what they act, and the way they react to the world. I believe a girl is worth what she has to offer to the world, way more than the way she looks. Thank you.

Also, I believe it's not about having an impressive vocabulary but it's how you articulate your thoughts through and she did that. Her answer has impacted and touched a lot of women who had understood her simple yet powerful answer and her answer will continue to inspire many young girls out there. That's why she won. She had the most effective answer that will only continue to inspire people as the days go by. This is the best batch of Top 3 in Miss Universe history when it comes to question and answer. We really observed that there were two Spanish speakers: Mexico and Puerto Rico, but they were able to answer the final question very well in English. Yet, they did not use any sort of translating service.
    Also, the judges had a very hard deliberation and that is why a closing statement was added in order to determine the winner of this pageant.

      @judyannlubiano8493 Před 4 lety +8

      @@323azteca Her answer does not deny the accomplishment of women leaders. She just said that from a systemic level, girls are not taught leadership because they are not expected to take leadership roles. They are expected to take support roles and work behind the curtains. However, that doesn't mean that there are no women who were able to rise above that and acquire leadership skills and leadership positions using whatever resources are at their disposal. So what she is saying is that we should be teaching girls at a mass scale that they should not be afraid to take up space, i. e. be visible and take credit for their work, instead of just working silently from the background.

    • @323azteca
      @323azteca Před 4 lety +3

      @@judyannlubiano8493 as to leadership I disagree that women are not taught leadership today. At least in the USA and Latin America, that is not true. It might be true in Africa. Something Ivanka Trump, the President's daughter, is working very hard to change.
      But most importantly, we women come by God's design with leadership traits. We lead at home and maintain order. We lead our kids. We lead at work. Leadership is influence. We use it all the time to our advantage. Its part of our DNA. Activists wants you to believe that leadership is synonym to CEO. That its a position instead of a trait. They don't want you to embrace your leadership in all areas of life. Because you need something to be angry and fight for.
      We do not need to be taught leadership. We need to be taught confidence. Us women are also naturally emotional, hence we question ourselves more often than not. We thrive to perfection before taking a step. We need to learn to take risks, to be confident, and to navigate politics. The rest, we are natural experts already.
